i agree with this. KEEP THE SYNTHS OFF DEBUT. however; jack also produced dance fever by florence and the machine. amazing album, please listen to it, but the reason i mention this is because!! it is so different!! this album is not a synthy album!! and don’t forget that taylor also produces her songs and she has the final say on what they sound like. not every song that has jack’s name on it is just his production. he has range, and sometimes we forget that because his taylor songs sound so similar. but this man also produced melodrama! and has worked with lana del ray, teagan and sara, carly rae, troye sivan, etc. he uses similar elements in his songs but they are not the same.
*points a banjo at Taylor and Jack*: no synths on Debut

1. taylor swift song: ivy. it’s perfection. the production (thank you aaron) and the poetry. one time i tried reading it as a poem and it was so beautiful. it’s full of longing and hiding, and it’s just. so. good. every single line is amazing, and the stressed syllable pattern. ugh. it’s amazing.
anyway: favourite non taylor song is probably call your mom by noah kahan. it’s so sad but in such an understated way. it’s like, this person is struggling, and you know, like, this other person is worried but they don’t know what to do, they’re trying to help in whatever way they can but they know that this person just. y’know. needs their mom.
2. my least favourite book is: keeper of the lost cities. holy moly i despise this book. i read it a while ago. like when i was twelve, but the hatred pushes through the many years.
it just. has the most basic plot. “oh, you’re the chosen one” blah blah blah. we’ve heard it before. *coughs* harry potter *coughs* and anytime they’re in trouble, the mc just. develops a new power that, guess what? magically gets them out of it. ugh. “oh no, do i choose between this white boy with dark brown hair or this white boy with light brown hair?? whatever shall i do??” is a major plot point. sadly.
and. like. 95% of the characters are white. there are no queer or disabled characters. and everyone is apparently ridiculously attractive (by western beauty standards). and there are these characters, i think they may be gnomes, that apparently “work” for “free” for the elves. sound familiar??? guess where we’ve seen this before. house elves. jeez. it just. pisses. me. off.
another thing about these books: there are eleven. eleven. of these things. (it was originally planned to be a trilogy. so. think about that.)
and the same thing happens. in every single one. they’re in a tough spot. they found out that another person is trying to kill mc. so. these people capture her. oh no, they’re going to die! but wait! she discovers a new power just in time! to save everyone! and no one dies! ever! and the plot never moves forward! ever! ahhh i hate it.
and she never chooses a guy. dark hair or light hair? oh no! they have the same personality but i still can’t choose!
what a horrible book. anyways. sorry for the rant, but it needed to be said. i couldn’t make it even halfway through the second book.
3. conspiracy theory: illuminati. it exists. but it’s just like. america.
4. weirdest talent? i can actually do that thing. where you like. talk but it doesn’t look like you’re talking. i’m not half bad, but i’m not great at it either ha.
5. a tomato is a vegetable. or is it? “fruit” and “vegetable” categories are made up by humans. i think this is why the tomato eludes us. it does not live by these fickle boundaries that we have placed on ourselves.
i really liked answering these! thanks for reading my entire rant.
Things I Genuinely Want to Know About My Mutuals (You should reblog and answer these)
What is your favorite song? Why?
What is your least favorite book?
What conspiracy theory do you wholeheartedly believe in?
What is your weirdest talent?
Do you think a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable?
