WELCOME TO THE SECOND SONIC FANKID SHOWDOWN!!!

This is the event where we make kids fight! For FUN!!! We had a blast last time, so, if the Sonic Fankid Showdown was so good, why isn't there a Sonic Fankid Showdown 2, huh?

Join this poll based tournament to see which fankid comes out on top! Rules and Instructions under the cut.

RULES:

ONE CHARACTER PER PERSON. This means you will only be able to submit ONE entry, and, if you have twins, sadly, you'll have to separate them. The only exception allowed to this rule is if your character has a pet, chao, wisp, etc. In that case you'll be able to submit them as one.

Fankids derived from INAPPROPRIATE SHIPS will NOT be allowed to participate. This includes incest, pedophilia, etc. This will be revised by me and a group of people I personally trust, and what's already decided will no longer be discussed.

Ship discourse is NOT allowed.

Regarding propaganda, ANYONE is allowed to post propaganda for ANY character in the competition, regardless if they're participating themselves or not. Any and all propaganda this blog is tagged in will be rebbloged, without preference.

The last rule also means that the only propaganda allowed will be for the KIDS and NOT the ship they come from.

Oc x Canon ships are allowed!

Any HATE towards the characters and/or creators will result in blocking, and, if it comes from someone participating, immediate disqualification from the tourney. If you have any legitimate concerns about someone participating you'll have to talk to me privately so we can come to a satisfactory solution for all parts involved.

Regarding NSFW content, I want this to be a safe space for both adults and minors alike. This means, no NSFW propaganda will be allowed, nor questions for the fankids, etc. This also means that if you have NSFW content in your main the minimum requirements is for you to warn and tag accordingly. If you have any NSFW side blogs, alt accounts, etc, there is no issue. I only want the blog that I will be actively tagging during the competition to be safe for everyone to click on and look through without any unwanted surprises, so anything you do on the side isn't a concern.

To add to this last rule, if I have any concerns about your main, or alternatively the blog you attached to your submission, I will privately message you to dicuss these concerns to come to an agreement (whether that is dropping out, taking the time to add tags to your blog, etc. I will NOT be changing these rules, however).

The last time around, people sent asks for the fankids via the askbox in this blog! Feel free to do it again, to get to know these characters better! The asks will stick to the no NSFW rule tho, so keep it safe.

The limit of entries is 64.

This time around I'll be giving priority to those who didn't get to participate last time. I will be making two separate lists, one with previous participants and one with new ones. If the latter list doesn't get to the limit of 64 I'll be picking names of the other list to get to that number, in the order I received the submissions.

Related to the last rule, people who got to participate last time around will NOT be able to submit the same kid again. I just think it's fair (and more fun) if we have completely different characters the second time around.

I will be accepting submissions until July 15th.

REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:

First requirement is, of course, to follow all the rules listed above.

Name of your character (this will be public; also, if you only give me their first name, that's all I will use during the tourney).

Ship (or single character) they come from (for revision purposes).

TRANSPARENT PNG of your character FULL BODY. If you are drawing traditionally I suggest putting the photo of your drawing in remove.bg to get rid of the background (this will be public, here's an example of the layout). This drawing will be the final photo, so please be absolutely sure before submitting it because you will NOT have the chance to change it.

Your Tumblr handle.

If the art you submitted was made by someone else, their handle as well (for crediting purposes).

A small description of the character so people can get no know them better (this will be public).

HOW DO I KNOW IF I GOT ACCEPTED?

You'll know once I post the list of matchups for the first round! I like that element of surprise. But don't worry, this will be posted a few days before the showdown actually starts, as to give you some time to prepare.

When this list will be posted depends on when we hit the limits of submissions. By default, it will be posted on July 12th, but it may be posted sooner.

Shadow comes home from a really long G.U.N. Mission and expects Sonic to be right at the door, really excited to see him, but goes into the house to find the blue blur cuddling a lavender-scented pillow on the couch, fast asleep

Based on a post of yours I saw a while back

The apartment was dark and quiet when Shadow stepped inside.

A year ago, this would not have struck him as odd. He used to live alone, after all. But even as exhaustion seeped into his bones, worn and weary from his long, arduous mission, Shadow found himself waiting in the hall for Sonic to greet him like he always did.

The absence of his… well, Shadow supposed they were boyfriends now, as Sonic had insisted on it just before Shadow left a few months ago. The thought made his chest flutter, even now. He still wasn't used to it.

Shadow realised then that he'd forgotten to tell Sonic when he'd be back. Of course, then, it could only be expected that his apartment was empty. Sonic must be sleeping at Miles' workshop. With a yawn, Shadow ambled forward tiredly, wanting nothing more than to sleep. He'd get some rest and contact Sonic in the morning.

If it weren't for his night vision, Shadow would have missed the fuzzy blue head of relaxed quills visible from behind the couch. Shadow rounded into the living room with muted surprise. Green eyes shut, a tan muzzle was squashed against the pillow that Sonic was cuddling with both his arms and legs, much in the same way he would cuddle Shadow whenever they slept.

Shadow allowed himself a moment to appreciate his boyfriend's sleeping form. Rarely was Sonic so calm and still. He looked peaceful, as though comforted greatly by the pillow's plushness against him. He did not stir, not even as Shadow knelt down on the carpet beside him and carded fingers through his short fur.

A familiar scent caught Shadow's nose. The pillow was coated in his favourite lavender cologne to an almost nauseating degree. But he'd been away long enough for his scent to fade. Did that mean that Sonic had sprayed the pillow in his absence?

And did that mean… Sonic had missed him? Enough to stay, to sleep in his apartment, even while he'd been gone for so long?

A strange, new sort of fondness soared up from Shadow's chest and he leaned in to place a kiss on Sonic's forehead. Carefully as he could, he gently snaked his hands beneath Sonic's body to pick him up, leaving the cologne-scented pillow behind. Sonic still did not wake, but he seemed to lean into Shadow's warmth as he was carried to bed.

Forget the pillow, Shadow thought, I'm here now, and I missed you terribly.
