Uuuugh I am SO tired of people preaching animal welfare and raging about zoos when they no FUCKALL about either!!
As stated in the last few comments, this is and EXCELLENT way of providing enrichment and entertaining THE ANIMALS while EDUCATING the visitors, which is what zoos are all about!
Look at that cat, shaking his legs due to fear of all the bombs. Cannot walk anymore. Animals cannot hide their feelings. Imagine what Palestinians feels inside. Babies, children, mentally handicapped or handicapped people in general like blind and deaf people, elderly.
Where are you vegans and animal rights activist who supports israel?Perhaps the animals from Palestine are lower than animals in your country. Make some excuses. But, it's not my business.
That cat like others in palestine is traumatized for life.
That cat is lucky. He cannot hunt anymore since his limbs are paralyzed. Other animals like him will starve to death if they are not taken care of by humans. Thanks Israel and America
it's 2023 stop trying to apply all standards that apply to people to animals. Humans and other species are as the name implies completely different species. Concepts that apply to people will probably not and usually do not apply to other species.
Body positivity for humans and saying it's okay to be fat does not contradict or cancel out basic animal welfare. It is in fact animal abuse and neglect to feed your pets until they are so overweight it is impacting their health. This statement does not in any single way contradict the fact that it's literally fine for people to be fat.
There is a massive, non-interchangeable difference between people having autonomy and not being shamed for existing, and abusing animals who have no choice in what they eat or how much they're able to move around because literally they rely on you 110% because they're in captivity.
It's okay for humans to be fat. It's okay for humans to be fat even if they're not healthy.
And this does not conflict with the statement that if you are feeding your animals to the point that they are overweight and it is affecting their health, that means you are abusing that animal.
Body positivity for humans does not mean mistreating animals is okay.
Mistreating animals being a bad thing does not mean humans shouldn't have body positivity.
These two things have literally nothing to do with eachother. Humans are people, who have the ability to make choices for themselves. Humans evolved over the entire history of this universe to be able to store fat. You cannot apply the standards for people to other species.
Humans being fat is okay does not contradict the statement that people have a responsibility to keep animals under their care healthy, which means giving them enough exorcize, a proper diet, and enrichment.
It's 2023. You cannot look at things that apply to people and try to transplant that idea onto animals, or vice versa. That is not how this works.
Stop anthropomorphising animals and thinking this is gonna have good results for the animals.
I'm tagging this post with everything that other post was tagged with so more people see it.
you cannot fight against Animal Rights Activist bullshit for only certain circumstances and spew ARA rhetoric when a situation pulls at your heartstrings.
Agricultural animals can be kept and produce eggs, dairy, fiber, etc. ethically given they are provided proper housing, water, food, vet care and enrichment.
Given proper housing, water, food, vet care, and enrichment dogs can live fulfilling lives outside of the interior of the home. Extreme weather is NOT dangerous for specific breeds of dogs (this goes both ways for hot and cold temperatures).
Given proper housing, water, food, vet care, and enrichment wild animals can live full lives out of the wild and in the care of conservation focused zoos.
Anyways.
I think some of you are so far down ARA or anti-ARA pipelines that you stop seeing nuance in a lot of animal welfare issues.
A lot of sanctuaries and organizations like peta will falsify stories of animal abuse and some do abuse and kill more animals than they do right by.
A lot of animal abuse and neglect due to ignorance or apathy (towards non-traditional pets especially) happens in the world.
These are both true statements. You don’t have to try to justify peta to prove you’re an ARA and you don’t have to justify the US commercial poultry industry to prove you aren’t an ARA.
Please think critically and independently on these issues, I beg.
Did you know in the uk alone the RSCPA reported over 700 animals were abandoned after the holidays, this includes animals given as unwanted pets. Please before even considering getter any animal, do you research, thoroughly. From health to habitat and how they with impact you life.
With the correct consideration and care an animal can make a great addition to the family.
They are not a novelty gift for Christmas
I think it's a common misconception that domesticating animals is somewhat like enslaving them. It really is more of a symbiotic relationship. No wild animal would have willingly put up with early humans if they didn't get something out of it. Wolves wouldn't have stayed with us and become dogs if they weren't getting food and safety out of it. Many large herbivores that are now domesticated could and would have easily trampled their early human captors or broken their enclosures open if they didn't have a reason to stay. Sometimes individual animals still do if we don't give them what they need.
The animals that have stayed with us for thousands of years have evolved to cooperate with us better. Dogs have additional facial muscles around their eyes that wolves lack in order to mimic human facial expressions. Sheep grow their wool perpetually while their wild counterparts don't because a bigger fleece means they're more likely to be allowed to breed and be kept around. Domestic dairy cows produce much more milk than wild bovine species and domestic hens lay more eggs. Do you know how energy costly producing eggs or milk is for an animal? It's pretty intense! They wouldn't be able to do that if we hadn't given them the food and safety from predators and the elements to.
And we really need to show these animals respect and gratitude for what they give us by taking excellent care of them. They gave up a lot to be with us, often including the means to take care of themselves in the wild. That's a huge reason why I'm not against using animal products, but I hate factory farming. They are still living, breathing creatures with needs and feelings. They deserve a comfortable life and, when the time comes, a humane death.
