Aot Final Season - Tumblr Posts
Something I noticed while watching the first 9 episodes of Season 4 is that Gabi is almost the exact opposite of Falco and is basically a parallel to Eren. Before you bash me, let me elaborate
For my first point, Falco is the voice of reason and more "thinking-driven" compared to Gabi, whereas she rushes into action and is more emotionally driven in the sense that she acts based on her feelings and doesn't think twice before acting. As I am saying this, Falco could actually be a parallel to Armin because he too was not very physically strong but he was smart and thought more than he fought. Both Eren and Armin, and Gabi and Falco are the opposites of each other.
For my second point, Eren was 12 when he witnessed titans invade his home and watch his village and loved ones get crushed. A literal parallel to Gabi where she witnessed titans invade her home as well, destroying it all and watching her loved ones die at a young age too. With that said, both her and Eren's first response was to get revenge, to kill them all (for Eren it was titans, for Gabi it was the "demons of Paradis Island").
They are two characters that can both be described as determined, angry, stubborn, headstrong, etc. In a sense, the way Eren saw titans and wanted to kill them all is the same way Gabi saw "bad Eldians" and wanted them all to die as well. If Marley was the victim and Paradis the villain in this situation, Gabi would've probably turned out to be exactly like Eren, save for the titan powers. She would've also grown up even more with the mindset that the bad Eldians should die and she would not stop until she achieves her goal, like Eren did.
And in the same way that Armin could never catch up with Eren, Falco can never catch up with Gabi. The only reason why we don't really see this though is because they were still 12 (?) when the war ended and they grew up further in a more peaceful environment restoring Marley/Paradis with Levi and such. If the war continued into their late teens/early twenties, Gabi and Falco would've probably ended up exactly like Eren and Armin. The one who destroys themself trying to end the war and the other who is left behind.
Eren and Gabi are actually so incredibly similar that it's insane. Gabi as a character is basically Isayama showing us Eren through a different lens, in different circumstances, in a different time period. A parallel of what Eren could've been if he wasn't born unlucky
IM A BIT LATE TO THE BANDWAGON BUTTTT I STOPPED WATCHING ATTACK ON TITAN AROUND SEASON 2 WHEN IT ENDED AND DECIDED JUST FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES TO BINGE WATCH IT SO I CATCH UP TO SEASON 4 A FEW WEEKS AGO AND ALL I HAVE TO SAY W O W

Questions for the AoT fandom
So I watched Aot in 2020 then caught up with season 4 a few days back. I'm now back in fandom and I don't know if it's because I was gone for a while but I have a few questions. Just reply in comments or reblog or whatever I just need answers. No manga spoilers, please.
Aot season 4 spoilers below
1. Armin is manipulative?? - How? Did I miss/forget something? Why is Armin considered manipulative?
2. Hating on Gabi- Even before I caught up with s4 I kept seeing people hate on Gabi and I'm still not sure why. She's literally season 1 Eren in female form and she clearly regrets her actions.
3. This one is probably something I forgot from s1-3 but why do people hate Bertholdt so much?
Yeah, that's it. Thank you in advance.

MAJOR ATTACK ON TITAN SPOILERS
jean kristein:
jean is probably the most relatable to the common man within the story of shingeki no kyojin (aot). prior to the beginning of the story, all of the characters have their separate lives: eren with mikasa and armin, reiner with bertholdt and annie, and etc. out of all the background stories, jeanâs is normal, or what normal can be on the island.
he grew up with a loving mom, and although he finds her embarrassing, he was still able to grow up with a rather peaceful life. thus, leading him to join the 104th scout regiment to live a lavish life in the wall of sina. when i first began attack on titan somewhere in late 2015 early 2016, i agreed with jeanâs thought process. yes people are dying, yes people are living in a cage, yes people donât have âfreedomâ, but that is not my life (or yk if i was living in jeanâs position and in the universe). death, massacre, genocide even, is inevitable. HA ! that's someone who has been living in a comfortable bubble would say.

i, like jean, have never gone through the horrors of life compared to characters like levi or reiner. who cares about other people when you can live a comfortable life. oh, the privilege dripping out of my mouth when i say that. nevertheless, jeanâs rose-tinted glasses are broken once he sees half of marcoâs body.
why was this so traumatic? some people said they didnât even rememberer marco or didnât pay attention to him, but why? i did. the effects of marcoâs kindness, observations, and mere presence were comforting. it almost makes you forget the reality of the situation until those moments become mere memories.
through this, he develops drive and motivation. after seeing reality, tell me, how can one standstill?
maybe this shouldâve been a post about marco, but this about how he had a big impact on jeanâs awakening.
jean kristein is a common man, then became a character whose maturity is clearly shown throughout the series. ignorant to a man who sees it as it is, not what he wants it to be. no longer a âcommon manâ. that is why he is admirable to me. (that's also why i'm in love with him)
eren yeager, ymir fritz, zeke yeager, floch forster, etc may be well developed characters, but, jean clearly demonstrates growth in people. a change in perspective. a change in heart.
i have a lot of character analysis stuff about a bajillion characters and all of a sudden i got an urge to write about certain aspects of them. hehe

MAJOR ATTACK ON TITAN ANIME + MANGA SPOILERS
freedom:
in light of the last chapter of attack on titan coming on april 9th, i wanted to talk about the constant reoccurring theme of the story.
due to the vast amount of people, perspectives and interpretations vary. freedom is something everyone wants but have differing definitions of. when you first think of that word you may think of erenâs true love, the opportunity to express yourself, to become whatever you want to be, and etc. attack on titan displays the various ideas of freedom.
admittedly, i could be wrong because my interpretation of these characters may be different from others.
eren yeager. FREEDOM !!! YEAAA !! but to him, what is freedom? at the start of the story, freedom is living with nothing holding you back, not living in fear of titans. but the existence of titans means never going beyond the walls, lions constantly peering over mice. but his idea of freedom changes after the kiss of true love.

a new understanding is gained. he is blinded by revenge. but is it his revenge or is it someone elseâs? ymir, the slave to the king and now a slave to her own misfortune. driven by anger and vengeance of the world. why did she have to be ostracized? why did it have to be her? revenge is freedom in her mind.
carla yeager, a woman who believes that people are born special and not made special. she finds that freedom is being who you are. she doesnât seek something to make her special. when grisha and sadis talk about the âspecialâ people in the scout regiment, carla scoffs. she portrays a mundane view of freedom.
erwin smith, a man who seeks the truth. what is freedom to him? avenging his father? atoning to the deaths he lead many to? no. itâs to find out the realities of the world that was stripped from the people of the island. although he never fulfills his idea of freedom, he was able to rest. even if he had all of this need to understand, he accepts what he knows. is that freedom? is acceptance freedom? i donât know myself.
throughout the time when eren had the founding titan, ymir sees eren. ymir understands eren. i believe this story is to depict empathy, not mere sympathy. whether you agree with how eren or ymir or carla or any other characterâs viewpoint on freedom, isayama wants you to understand. omg count how many times iâve used that word.
each character experiences different things, each character responds to things differently, and each character can be seen as human. the variations of people are depicted throughout characters of attack on titan.
the supposedly âlast panelâ in the first picture above, is a man holding a child saying âyou are freeâ. there are lots of theories on who these people are, but the most interesting aspect, to me, is how that child is free.
in the end, what is freedom? what is it to you?

MAJOR ATTACK ON TITAN ANIME + MANGA SPOILERS
mikasa:
due to the twists and turns that attack on titan provides, mikasaâs character arc is largely overlooked. âerehâ is one of the first things people think of when âmikasaâ is brought up. but obviously, she is more than someone in love with that freedom obsessed conflicted idk i can go on and on guy.
mikasa represents pride, armin represents hope, eren represents freedom. i wrote about freedom before (i linked it at the bottom of this post), but what is pride? it is to feel a sense of satisfaction with themself.
mikasa is someone who values the relationships she has built throughout her life. in a world filled with disappointment and is stuck in a cycle of hate, mikasa ackerman is the ray of sunshine. nothing is stable; from households to government, to history, but to believe in the relationships between people is the only thing worth holding onto.
some may belittle her by saying she is simply like that because of her ackerman name. but can you do what she has done? can you continue to believe in someone who has disappointed you plenty?
mikasa is the beauty in this cruel world she was born in. i guess some people donât understand that she was one of the first characters to be developed. she learned to live without eren in chapter 7.
âIf I can't, then I'll just die. But if I win I live. Unless I fight, I cannot winâ is the mentality of this character. she saved gabi, the person who killed one of her closest friends, being able to look beyond hatred, something the world cannot seem to let go of.
in the end, mikasa values her friends. she free of ymirâs curse never bound to the chains of revenge ymir embedded onto eren. she fights against the inevitable results of that revenge.
âi am strong!!â yes. strong-minded. strong-willed.
so how is her character going to come to an end?
mikasa will be the wings of freedom

MAJOR ATTACK ON TITAN ANIME + MANGA SPOILERS
floch:
hatred, disgust, maybe even abhorrence are most of the reactions to floch forsterâs character. and that is understandable. people hate floch because he wanted erwin to live, described erwin as a devil, and dissed armin. people hate floch because he didnât understand what the scouts went through prior to him joining them. people hate floch because he is a yeagerist. people hate floch because he was the cause of hangeâs death. and there is much more.
something i believe people donât realize is that floch is a representation of the audience/reader.
rationally speaking, saving erwin is the obvious choice (at first), but throughout the series, arminâs character had been developed in front of our eyes. erwin is an established character, hence why people are more attached to armin.
after witnessing all of the deaths derived from erwinâs lead, floch grew to despise him, but he understands that erwin is the only person capable to lead.
bias. that is what a lot of attack on titan fans are. and what angers me is that they donât notice that they are biased.
many proudly claimed that they are yeagerists and are for eren. they say that after three seasons of supporting eren, how are they supposed to hate him now? dude theyâre literally floch kinnies.
from that reaction alone, floch embodies the general audience. at first they agree that erwin should be the one to live, then they are in support of eren despite him continuing the cycle of hate. honestly, people are so stupid.
floch provides an opposing view. and i admire him because he strongly believes that it serves a good purpose. he truly believes that working with eren and following his ideals will benefit the world. maybe he is right. but either way, i donât agree.
even so, i think flochâs position in the story is highly important. without him, we wouldnât be able to understand the opposing side, whether we agree with them or not.
flochâs character offers a different perspective. people are in support of the main characters because the story is following them. like gabi. people quickly hated on her but disregard the propaganda that has been shoved in her face since she is a child. weâre told that brushing our teeth twice a day is healthy, but then all of a sudden it is not. wouldnât that confuse you because youâve been told that brushing your teeth twice a day is healthy?
being open-minded will always be better than being stubborn. trying to understand flochâs point of view is understanding why the majority of the attack on titan fandom his terrible comprehension skills.
so why do people who agree with floch, hate him? they see a reflection of themselves and disapprove of it, but they donât want to admit it to themselves that they are just as blind as floch forster.
sorry for dissing the fandom. AHAHA ! i just get really annoyed with like 75% of the fandom because they donât understand the significance of a character, scene, or other aspects of the series. there is always a purpose for each character and moment.
i donât love floch but i don't hate him. although i do think his character is vital to the story.

MAJOR ATTACK ON TITAN ANIME + MANGA SPOILERS
gabi:
gab is a controversial character. and many donât like her for her way of thinking and her actions, like peopleâs reactions/feelings towards floch (i linked that post below). they disregard the fact that they are bias towards the island of paradis people.
through the time span from 2013 to 2019, weâve only seen the perspective of those who are on the island. as the audience, we understand the hurt, trauma, and many terrible adversities those on the island have gone through, therefore, empathizing with them. we later learn that the marleyans are in charge of that oppression and oppress the eldian on the motherland as well.
gabi, a child in marley, grew up in a place that constantly pushes propaganda onto their people. they made people like karina braun, reinerâs mother, believe those lies implemented into their lives.
we are told that it is healthy to sleep 8-10 hours our entire life, but what if all of a sudden it is proven otherwise? wouldnât it impact our views? wouldn't some people question what they've been told and be in denial as well?
gabi and falco grew up their entire lives believing that eldians deserve this ârepercussionâ. how do you blame a child who believed the lies sheâs been fed since the very beginning of her life?
falco understands that the marleyans have done much wrong because he was present during the conversation between reiner and eren. he gained a new understanding when âreiner, i am the same as youâ was uttered from erenâs mouth. whether it's a blessing or a curse, falco understands the mindset of eren and the reasons of why what happened during tyber's speech, happened.
besides gabiâs way of thinking, people dislike her due to the fact that she killed sasha. i understand the hurt as i was distraught when i read that chapter as well, but understand that sasha also killed gabiâs friends and contributed to eren's attack. i understand that it doesnât justify murdering someone, but why do people hold gabi accountable and not sasha? reason being point-blank, people are biased towards sasha. she is a lovable character, some would even categorize her as the comedic relief, the twin flame to connie. thatâs why it hurt so much.
another point is the fact that gabi's character is parallel to eren. the series began with eren cursing at the titans, wondering why is it that people within the walls live in a constant fear due to the titans existence. they did no wrong. why were they being attacked?
why were the innocent eldians in marley attacked? were they responsible for their governmentâs actions? werenât they just as oppressed as the eldians on the island? gabi saw the friends that she grew up with die just as eren saw his mother die. so why do people hate her more than eren? why don't they hold eren accountable? once again, it's due to them being biased.
gabi escaped with falco and went to live with sasha's parents, which prompted her character arc. she began to understand the eldianâs on the island. they were not devils as she was told her entire life. they were mere humans who wish to live in freedom.
later, when she met with niccolo, she then truly understood the weight of her actions. only then did she realize that she contributed to the cycle of hate.
in the recent chapter, chapter 138, gabi turned into a titan, which ultimately led her to death's arms. that in it of itself is really telling of her overall character. at first, i didnât realize this but she cursed people of the islands for having devil blood and for being devils themselves. she thought that if she sided with marley she would be âhonorary marleyanâ. after erenâs attack, she realized her perspective was wrong. her efforts to suppress her blood was all for naught.
gabi dying from turning into a titan makes us, the readers, understand that at the end of the day, she is an eldian. through it all, she cannot escape what is in her blood.
in hindsight, i thought it was a mundane ending to her character, but i later realized that it was very good ending to her character. i wonder if at that point, she truly accepted who she is. is it a bittersweet ending, or simply a somber one? it's all up to your interpretation of it.
in the end, all characters within this series have done wrong. evidently, some more than others, but the world isnât simply black or white. it is a vast of grey and the only choices can make are not right or wrong, but better or worse.
i donât love gabi but i donât hate her either. although, i think she is an important character within the story, much like floch. compared to eren, she is a different side of the same coin. driven by revenge.
what i love about her character is that she was able to break free from the cycle of hate to create her own opinions, to break free from what the government has told her to believe. not many have that opportunity or luxury to say they have done the same, whether it be within the story, or real life.
wow i wrote a lot

Blasting Attack On Titan The Final Season: Original Soundtrack 02.
I contain multitudes.
the world is cruel, but i still love you

summary: it dawns on them as they sing these words that this part of their life is coming to an end. the series is over, but they canât be. they mean too much to each other.
word count: 1.4k
pairing(s): eren jaeger x mikasa ackerman
genre | includes: actor!au, slight angst with a happy ending, pining, songfic kinda, sfw, kissing, not proofread, inconsistent tone
authorâs note: i was supposed to be writing a scholarship essay and then this happened. this was originally supposed to be a headcanon, but i got unbelievably carried away which is why youll see a shift in style. im too lazy to do anything about it. iâm kind of happy wrote though, iâve been in a severe writerâs block since I posted messy handwriting months ago. this is my first time writing for aot so i hope you enjoy. listen to the s4 pt2 outro while you read! thatâs what theyâre singing :)

another aot actor!au
but imagine for the last episode of the series, they have eren and mikasa sing the outro (akuma no ko) so itâs like theyâre singing to each other.
and bc mikasa is half-japanese and probably speaks japanese with her mom, she has to spend hours helping eren remember the lyrics and get the pronunciation right. for weeks, the words just wouldnât come out right. he doesnât get the inflection and the drawn out vowels. it reminds him of why he stopped learning the language in the first place. german was so much easier.Â
but mikasa is patient. sheâs the greatest teacher he could have asked for. she facetimes him for hours at a time and placates his worries as the recording date comes closer. he picks her up every other day so they can sing in the car and she gives him a piece of candy for every time he makes it through the lyrics without stumbling. itâs bittersweet. ending the journey they spent more than half their lives on in the exact same way it started: sitting in each otherâs company and rehearsing their lines, fearful of what comes next.
eren dreads the recording day. not because heâs afraid he wonât get his part right, no mikasa made sure he sounds good, but because of what it symbolizes. when the episode airs and the public hears them sing this song for the first time, it will be the last time he will don the role of eren jaeger, doctorâs son from shiganshina, titan shifter, savior and destroyer of the world. if he doesnât get his act together, it will be the last time he will don the role of mikasa ackermanâs lover. heâs not ready. mikasa isnât either.
as he stands next to mikasa in the recording studio, headphones secured over his pulled back hair (she likes it more that way, âi like being able to see all of your faceâ she said) he reminisces on the first day he asked mikasa for help. when she translated the lyrics for him. his heart was stuck on the chorus. they were the first lines he memorized, having spent hours outside of mikasaâs company trying to get them right so he could say them to her over and over. so his feelings made it to her somehow. even if they werenât his own words. even if she didnât know he meant every bit of it.
he locks eyes with her as he sings them with her, both of their voices low, gravelly, thick with something the other wasnât sure they wanted to believe.Â
the world is cruel, but i still love you
she wanted to stop there. mikasa wanted to yank the headphones over the silly pigtails on top of her head (he likes it more that way, âyou look like that one picture of you as a kid, the one you tried to delete from sashaâs phone so she couldnât post it on your birthday. you still get cake all over your face just like you did in that pictureâ he said) and turn the microphone off. she wanted to hold erenâs face in her trembling hands and say the words for real. she doesnât resent much about herself, but she does regret not being more like her on-screen counterpart. mikasa ackerman the soldier never hesitated. she made sure eren knew she loved him. mikasa ackerman the actress hasnât yet mustered up the courage. she would go to the ends of the earth for eren, she would. and if she had the chance to tell him, she knows she would never stop. she would never stop the waterfall of i love yous directly into the shell of his ear and donât leave mes into his neck and itâs always been yous into his lips that sheâs only ever released in her dreams.Â
no matter what you sacrifice, i will still protect you
their voices both crack, in the way that musicians make seem intentional, like theyâre choked up on their emotions and their hearts are clawing their way out of their chests while they sing.Â
never once do their eyes leave each other. can you hear me? they want to say. did my voice, have my words, has this message, reached you? they want to cry.
when they finish their eyes are wet. neither willing to blink lest they shed the first tear. they hardly register the staff on the other side of the glass congratulating them, telling them to come to the other room and listen to the recording again.
eren reaches for mikasaâs hand as they walk out. she grips it tightly and squeezes once. is it really over? he squeezes back. it is.
at the emmyâs months later, they stand on the same stage theyâve walked across dozens of times since they were small. back when they were terrified of the possibility of tripping over their feet on live tv, back when they were terrified of being on live tv, back when there was so much left of their story, back when this wasnât the last time. they stand in front of the cameras, the audience, their oldest friends, hollywood legends, and novices alike, microphones in hand. the orchestra in the pit below them swells with their voices as they confess to each other once again. unknowing of the validity of the otherâs words. their eyes stay locked on each other the same way they did in the studio. the millions of eyes on them forgotten. it is just mikasa and eren. eren and mikasa. just as it always has been, just as they hope to god it always will be.Â
when the piano trickles out at the end, mikasa loses the battle with her tears. and eren pulls her in before she completely gives into her sorrow and sinks into the floor. the applause is deafening, but eren hears nothing but mikasaâs whisper.
âitâs really over,â her voice is hoarse from proclaiming her love at the loudest volume her throat would allow.
the curtain drops.
âit is,â his voice is hoarse from proclaiming his love at the loudest volume his throat would allow.
backstage, after theyâve changed, ready to go sit with their castmates, their old castmates, in anticipation for the remaining awards, mikasa pulls eren aside. maybe she feared being too much like mikasa ackerman the soldier because she knew it would be hard to separate herself from her alternate persona and would lose a part of her true self. but she has reconciled, in this moment, that there was no point. she would always be mikasa ackerman the soldier as much as she was mikasa ackerman the actress. so she would no longer resent her hesitation because her hesitation would be no more.
âi have to say this to youâ she begins slowly, trying not to regret her hastiness, trying not to regret not having prepared for this ahead of time, âi have to say this to you before i lose you. this will be the first time in 13 years that I havenât seen you regularly on set or had an excuse to show up at your apartment or hotel room or trailer under the guise of rehearsing lines and sharing gossip. you are my best friend, have been for my whole life, and i donât know why we fear that this will change because we no longer lead our double lives, because we both know it isnât true. but i know that with every day that we donât spend time together weâll grow apart and i canât live with that. i canât live with that because i love you, eren. more than a best friend should. more than a castmate. more than anything. i love you so much that i think my life might fall apart that you arenât there. i meant every word i sang up there and you donât have to believe me, but i couldnât live with myself if i let this chapter of our lives end without setting up room for a sequel. iâm sorry if this is sudden and out of nowhere, but god, eren, i love you.â
she didnât have the chance to catch her breath before he was leaning forward, loose wisps of his hair tickling her forehead, large, rough hands from years of doing his own stunts cupping her cheek (she could feel the scar on his right hand from biting it so intensely for so many years), and capturing her lips with his own. they kiss with over a decadeâs worth of resolved fear as fuel. they would never lose each other, not after this.
they didnât know how long they stood there, i love yous directly into each otherâs ears, donât leave mes into their necks, itâs always been yous into their lips.
the world is cruel, but i still love you
