thinking about what it must have been like for jj and her family after her sister's suicide. living in a small town (a population of 2136 in 2010) where everyone knows everyone. possibly quite religious. the way everyone would look at them. the way everyone would look at her. the way she can never go back, because they'll always look at her like that. and maybe that's why she keeps it a secret from the team for so long—she spent so much time with everybody knowing, once she's somewhere else, she wants nobody to know.

so i was watching some criminal minds clips on youtube (as you do), and i sort of went down a rabbit hole after watching a clip from "reckoner". season 5, episode 3? you know the one!
basically the main plot is hitman murders, but the Fun Side Plot is the fact that the ENTIRE CASE centers around rossi's mysterious past! which is wonderful for me. because we literally get nothing when it comes to this guy. idc if you like rossi or not, i wanna know what this mfs childhood was like!!! what made him Like That.
SO. in the process of going through transcripts, i find this dialogue near the end of the episode. rossi and hotch are talking on the jet, and rossi says this :
"... I should have married her [Emma], though. When I left the Marines, I was recruited by the Bureau.. spent a few years on the streets... got involved with starting the BAU... and before I knew it, a lifetime had gone by."
... there are So many things in that single paragraph i wanna explore.? but for the sake of getting my main point across, i'll stick to the biggest thing.
