I love this in so many ways. Mostly because it’s OMG DR. OWENS AND DR. BRENNER HUGGING IT OUT!
I don't think Owens is as innocent as people like to think he is. He's just playing dumb but he'll have to confront Dr. Brenner about the adoption (which may or may not be legitimate because this is the lab we're talking about) at some point in S3.
He knows exactly what he's doing.
In Season 2 Brenner probably never left the lab and Owens was just trying really hard to keep it a secret.

BTW, I don’t think that scene of Matthew Modine’s character being slapped is even in the movie. It’s an outtake! TV trailers did this constantly in the 90s.
Judging by that still promo of Joyce and Hopper sitting in an office holding a piece of paper, I wonder if they find out that Jane|Eleven's adoption papers aren't legitimate and that Owens was secretly under Brenner's control the entire time.
So I’m seeing theories that the guys up in the terminal might be Brenner and Owens. Not sure if I believe it, it may just be some random Russian scientist dudes but Owens does wear the white lab coat and Brenner wears the gray suits.
