Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi Fushiguro

You woke up with a pounding headache and a sore throat, feeling absolutely miserable. Shit, you thought to yourself. Somehow you’d managed to catch a nasty cold. You rolled over onto your back, all you wanted to was to stay in bed and wallow in self-pity. But as luck would have it, your boyfriend Megumi Fushiguro walked into your room, a concerned frown etched upon his face.

"Megumi, I feel awful," you whined. "I don't think I can even move."

He approached the bed with his usual calm demeanor, placing the back on his hand on your forehead. “Damn. You’re burning up. Hold on.” He slipped out of the room and when he returned he had a cold washcloth that he puts on your head. “I’ll make you some soup and stay home with you?”

“You don’t have to do that Megumi. You’ve got stuff to do today.” you murmured, your voice weak.

He glanced at you briefly, his expression softening for a fraction of a second. "It's nothing, it’s the least I can do.” he replied. "You'd do the same for me, right?"

You nodded, unable to hide the smile that tugged at your lips. “Well I at least want to come to the couch.” you say, attempting to rise from bed. “If you’re gunna stay home I don’t want to be in here all day.” Your body felt weak, and Megumi could tell, which is why he lifted you up into his strong arms and carried you into your living room, laying you on the couch and covering you up.

“If you get too close you’re gunna get sick to Gumi.” you said weakly.

“It’s fine, I’ll be careful.” he said tucking you into the blankets, making sure you were extra cozy.

Megumi was always taking care of you and as you watched him gather a bowl of steaming soup and a glass of water, you couldn’t help but smile at the thought of being taken care of by such a considerate boyfriend.

"Here," he said, placing the tray on your lap. "Eat. It'll make you feel better."

You took a small sip, feeling the warmth of the soup spread through your body. Megumi sat down beside you, his gaze focused on you, a hint of concern danced in his eyes.

"Thank you, Megumi. You’re the best boyfriend.” you said, taking another small sip of soup. “I don’t know what Id do without you.”

A faint blush tinted his cheeks, and he averted his gaze awkwardly. “Just rest and get better, okay? I'll be right here if you need anything."

"Thanks baby," you whispered, your voice filled with genuine appreciation.

He turned to look at you. "You don't have to thank me. Taking care of you like this... it's what I want to do." He admitted, albeit a bit awkwardly.

You smiled again, taking his hand in yours for a moment and squeezing. “You’re so sweet. I’m so lucky, you always go above and beyond for me. You’re really the best.”

Megumi scoffed a little, “I wouldn’t say I go above and beyond. I’m just doing what any boyfriend would do.”

You shook your head. "No, Gumi. You're not just doing what any boyfriend would do. You’re doing it in your own Megumi way and it’s cute. Just take the compliment."

He didn't respond, but you could see a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. It was moments like these when his guarded exterior cracked, revealing the softer side that he held within. A side reserved only for you.

You continued, sincerity lacing your voice. "I really do appreciate every little thing you do, Megumi. From the soup to you just sitting here with me, you make me feel loved.”

“He shifted a bit uncomfortably, his gaze fixed on his hands. "I...I'm glad," he muttered softly.

Setting your soup down and leaning in closer, you gently cupped his cheek, guiding his eyes to meet yours. "Good. I love you, I know I say it a lot. But I do, and I appreciate you. Everything you do. You’re perfect, my perfect boyfriend.”

A faint blush dusted his cheeks, but he didn't shy away from your touch. "I’m not perfect and I don't always know the right words to say," he admitted, "But I want you to know that I'm here for you, always. I love you…a lot… so I’m just doing what I can."

"Well I think what you’re doing is perfect,” you whispered. "I’d kiss you if I wasn’t sick."

He smiled, a rare and genuine smile. “You can kiss me…” he said with a shrug, his voice low.

You chuckled leaning in to give him a soft kiss, smiling against his lips. “If you get sick don’t blame me.” You chuckled, settling into the couch. Despite being sick, today was turning out to not be so miserable.

MY BOYFRIEND WILL KICK YOUR ASS !

“Stay back!”

This is an utter plot twist. When you came out of your apartment today, all dolled up and ready to go on a date with your boyfriend, you never imagined you’d end up cornered by two creeps in a deserted alley.

“Easy, girl,” one of the guys in front of you cackled, lips curling into an unsettling sneer. “We’re just trying to get to know you better!”

“Listen— My boyfriend is super scary, you know!” you barked, willing yourself not to shake. “Now you better not come any closer or else—!”

“Or else what?” the other creep mocked with a snort. You gripped your umbrella—now your makeshift weapon—tightly, pointing it at him as a threat.

“Or else my boyfriend will be here in any minute and he’ll kick your ass!”

It was a partly a lie you hoped sounded convincing, because how could Megumi suddenly show up and find you in this dingy alleyway... right after both of you had a petty disagreement in the middle of Shibuya's shopping district?

Oh lord, how you regretted raising your voice and running away from him earlier.

"You are late!" you scolded him heatedly as he yawned, showing up twenty minutes later than your agreed time. "Can't you at least text me beforehand? I'll match your time if you do!"

Megumi sighed, fixing you with a blank stare as he scratched his head. "My bad. I overslept. I rushed here so didn't think of it."

It was so easy for him to say, and you would've understood if it was the first time, but you had noticed this pattern over the past two weeks. Whenever you asked him out for dates, his face always soured, and he didn't bother to be on time. If you didn't know any better, you'd think he was reluctantly agreeing.

And by this point, you thought you knew better and that was really it.

Finally, you blurted out the burning accusation: "You never realize it, but it shows, you know? You never seem happy when we go out together."

He exhaled in exasperation, green eyes darkening at you. "What do you mean?"

"Exactly that."

It seemed he had run out of patience. Standing your ground, you braced for his next words. But the glare he sent your way and the words he spat pierced your tender heart more than you thought—

"You're always nagging. Can't you stop being annoying just once? What a pain."

Perhaps he was right, you were annoying him all this time and dealing with you was a pain. You could imagine it if you were in his place, but you couldn't handle the very implication that you had done so, and you screamed at his face:

"So be it then! Fushiguro, you are the worst!"

—and ran off with tears in your eyes, deserting him altogether.

You knew you weren’t exactly a model of maturity, but in your defense, it stung deeply that he saw you as annoying and a pain. What girlfriend wouldn’t be hurt by that?

Anyhow, you loitered near the Shibuya station afterwards, and at first you heard some catcalls you didn't really pay mind to. But when those two guys started whistling and edging closer, it hit you—you were their target.

You quickened your pace, turning down several corners, only to find yourself trapped in a dead end. Just how much worse could your day get?

"Aha, the girl says she has a boyfriend!" Creep #1 snickered, turning to Creep #2 with a smirk, before pretending to scan the area. "But I don’t see him?"

"Miss, I swear we’re not up to any trouble," Creep #2 chimed in, his eyes gleaming with a predatory delight. "Won’t you be our friend? You’re too pretty to be alone—this is Shibuya, after all!" he said, eyeing your legs and whistled. "And ooh, have I told you that skirt suits you well?"

These guys were straight-up perverts!

"Get lost!" you yelled, your fingers trembling as you swung the umbrella at him when he tried to close the distance. "Can’t you just leave me alone?!"

You were at your wits' end, and it was clear this situation wasn’t going to improve with them still blocking your way. You took a deep breath, trying to steady your racing heart, and decided to do the only thing you could.

In hindsight, a stupid move—

You barreled towards the two of them with your umbrella—managing to push past them. For a moment, you thought you had a chance and ran as fast as you could—

"Ack!" —until you tripped and crashed on the ground.

You rose and immediately winced, looking down at the site where it hurt the most. Oh, you had scrapped your knees badly.

"Ahh, miss! Don't be too hasty~!" you heard the second guy's sing-song voice, and you really wanted to cry. Why did this have to happen to you?

"Don't come c-closer!" you stammered, backing away as they approached. Your whole body shook, desperately trying to think of ways to save yourself. "Or— I'll scream!"

"Whoa, whoa, wait just a minute! Why don't you just—"

You really thought you would scream, until suddenly the familiar scent of mint filled your sense and a strong arm pulled you from behind, and a broad back shielded your view from them—

"What do you need from her?" Megumi's voice boomed, his eyes glaring at the two men who had been harassing you. His breathing was ragged, as if he had run all the way here. "Fuck off."

At that moment, you couldn't help clutching his sleeve, hiding behind him further as you kept trembling. Megumi sensed it, and turned over to have a look over you—

You looked disheveled, spooked, and his eyes widened when he saw the blood trailing down both of your knees.

"Hey man, your girlfriend practically asked for it! Just look how she is dressed—"

Before you could process what was happening, Megumi had yanked the man by his collar and thrown a punch at him. You yelped and immediately got a hold of his arm to stop him further. "Megumi!"

The other guy quickly caught his friend, who spat out a string of curses, his lips bloodied from the punch.

"Fuck. Off." Megumi glowered at them, and they finally got the message, scurrying away in hurry. The moment they did, he faced you again and you finally let out a sob, throwing yourself into him. His body was warm, his heart pounding hard— yet it meant reassurance for you.

"Are you okay...?" his voice was noticeably softer as he wrapped his arms around you and returned the hug. "Did they touch you—?"

Megumi froze when he felt his chest dampen with your tears and heard your sniffles, your figure shaking like a leaf in his embrace. A wave of guilt washed over him, realizing how scared you must have been. Instinctively, he held you tighter.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry," he muttered, his breath warm against your ear. It was as if there was an invincible knife that twisted his chest when it dawned on him what you just got into. "I'm here now, okay? You're safe now."

If it weren’t for his harsh words earlier, you wouldn’t have run off. He kept shushing you, his own heart breaking at the turn of events.

And when you nodded against him, he knew he had to make it up to you somehow.

MY BOYFRIEND WILL KICK YOUR ASS !

Later, Megumi tended to your minor injury while crouching down before you, as you sat on a bench near the convenience store where he had picked up the first aid kit.

Your eyes were swollen, your outfit was dirtied, but you ignored the curious looks from passersby. Still shaken, you kept your gaze fixed on your lap.

You recoiled when the disinfectant touched your torn skin, tears welling up again in your eyes. "Ow..."

"It'll hurt just a bit," Megumi looked up at you worriedly, seeing you struggling to hold back tears. He gently blew air on your wound. "It’ll be over soon."

Megumi noticed how you were uncharacteristically quiet. Between the two of you, you were the chatty one and he was the silent listener. But now, you were completely silent, and he knew it was definitely not a good sign.

And so he thought it was a good time to finally explain himself. With a sigh, he began. "I... was on back-to-back missions since last week."

You glanced at him, both surprised and confused.

"I was so tired; that’s why I’ve been oversleeping lately. Sorry for not meeting you on time." Megumi applied the ointment to your knees, and you stiffened from the sting. He blew air on them again to ease the discomfort.

"You never told me," you pointed out.

"Yeah, uh, sorry..." he winced. "It's so... lame. I got so exhausted for a week straight whereas Itadori bounces back so easily. Stupid, I know."

"You... didn't tell me because you don't want to look uncool?"

As soon as you worded it that way, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Megumi remained silent, looking down, and you knew that his silence was a definite yes.

Totally stupid. But exactly how Fushiguro Megumi was always wired. A part of you was exasperated, but also forgave him for it.

When he met your gaze again, he finally saw the light returning to your eyes. It was a relief to him, so he let out a small sigh and put on a strained smile.

"How did you find me anyway?" you asked quietly.

"You didn't pick up my calls. I was worried. And then I ran around until I heard your voice." His eyes narrowed into a frown. "Did they do anything to you?"

You shook your head, and Megumi let out the breath he had been holding, gripping your right hand in his. "I’m glad."

You brushed away the trace of tears on your cheeks as he finished applying band-aids to your knees, awkwardly fiddling with your fingers.

"Sorry for being annoying," you mumbled softly, not meeting his eyes, feeling yourself so small all of a sudden. "Will totally happen again though."

"You..." Megumi rose from the ground, raising an eyebrow. Unintentionally, he cracked a smile at your daring remark. "Just... don’t run off again, dummy. Do it where I can see you."

He ruffled your hair gently, then intertwined your fingers with his. "And sorry... for getting mad at you too."

Your cheeks felt warm, so you looked away, puckering your lips together. "...I'm hurt. You have to make it up to me."

He hummed, the beginnings of a smile on his face. "Let's go have that shaved ice you’ve been craving then."

“Huh? But you don’t like them?”

“You like those sugary dump, don’t you?”

Hand-in-hand, both of you traversed the Shibuya shopping district together. Your eyes were still puffy, but you were smiling and talking his ears off again just like you always did.

“I told those pricks my boyfriend will definitely kick their asses,” you giggled to yourself, swinging your intertwined hand joyfully. “And you really did~”

“What are you talking about…?”

And yet, Megumi thought... he liked you the best this way.

[12:17 AM] FUSHIGURO MEGUMI X FEM! READER

gojo knows that, as a teacher, he’s responsible for all of his students and what goes on. he’s also responsible for enforcing rules, such as no boys in girls dorms and vice versa.

gojo’s about to take a walk to the kitchens to raid some of the cake nanami brought earlier but he stops when he hears footsteps and hushed voices. no one could be stupid enough to sneak onto the campus of jujutsu tech while gojo was there and think they’d live to see another day.

out of the darkness and into the dim lights outside the dorms, gojo sees you and megumi stumbling along, hands running over each others bodies and little giggles leaving your mouth in between (and during) the ardent kisses the two of you exchange.

gojo tilts his head up to the moon and weighs his options. he could just teleport over there, scare the shit out of the two of you, and send megumi back to his dorm or he could ignore it, let the two of you be normal teens for once, and eat nanami’s delicious homemade cake.

gojo thinks about megumi: about his childhood, how serious and stern he’s always been, how he’s always had to be that way. he thinks about both of you and how much horror and evil you faced everyday that you didn’t ever ask for. none of you did.

he glances back at the two of you as you fumble with your keys to open your door, megumi’s hands on your waist, pressing insistent kisses down your neck with a smile. he never thought megumi would ever let himself have fun, would never give himself that opportunity and that time and that grace, much less get a girlfriend.

so, gojo decides that maybe, just this once, he can turn a blind eye to megumi slipping into your room at about a quarter past midnight.

but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t going to tease the shit out of you tomorrow.

— megumi has a few secrets. he once threw out the brownies gojo made him (they had too much sugar). he ate kugisaki’s yakitori once (and blamed it on itadori). and the biggest one? he has a an embarrassingly huge crush on you (he might never tell you, but his shikigami can’t keep secrets).

Megumi Has A Few Secrets. He Once Threw Out The Brownies Gojo Made Him (they Had Too Much Sugar). He

On the instances that there are no life-threatening assignments (field trips, as Gojo calls them), Saturday mornings at Jujutsu Tech are relatively peaceful. It’s these days that Megumi allows himself the luxury of waking slowly, pulled into consciousness by the sun filtering through his curtains, and not the blaring of an alarm.

A quick glance at his phone reads 8:33am, a good hour and a half past his usual alarm. Megumi rolls out of bed, doing a few quick stretches before heading off to the bathroom.

His sleepy trip back is followed by a detour to his dorm to grab a book, then he heads to the common room in search of some breakfast. It’s still relatively empty, and the only other person that’s ever up at this hour on a day off is—

“Good morning.”

—you, smiling at him over a steaming mug of tea. You’re seated snug against the arm of the couch, a quilt wrapped around your shoulders, and a book balanced in your lap.

You look warm, inviting, and his mind betrays him by imagining how nice it might be to wake up next to you.

The thought of course is followed by a blush that crawls from the base of his neck to the tips of his ears, and if you notice, you’re kind enough not to say anything.

“Hey,” he mumbles, shoving his thoughts down and returning your lazy smile with his own (it looks more like a grimace) when you lean forward, pushing the pot of tea. He grabs his own mug, shuffling over to pour himself a cup.

“Any plans for the day?” You ask, turning a page in your book (one of his books, actually, you’d borrowed it the other day) after briefly glancing up at him through your lashes.

“Not really,” he shrugs, averting his gaze to his mug. He has to, because that look has long been the cause of this strange arrhythmia, this fluttering between his ribs that he can’t ever seem to contain. “Probably just going to read, then do some training before lunch. You?”

“I don’t really have anything planned either. Just wanted to relax a bit before training,” you hum, and when Megumi finally gains the courage to look at you again, your eyes aren’t on your (his) book anymore. They’re on him.

Your gaze is almost pleading, and Megumi sighs, knowing exactly what it is you want.

(And he’s never been able to say no to you, has he?)

You pat your leg lightly, and his demon dog immediately responds by leaping up onto the couch to rest its head on your lap, tail wagging contentedly as you smooth your hand over its back.

Shyly, Megumi settles himself at the opposite end of the couch, his dog’s tail swishing over his lap as he flipped open his book. With your free hand, you slide your plate of toast towards him. “I made an extra one for you.”

“Thank you.” An extra piece for him. Not for Kugisaki or Itadori.

(You really need to stop being so nice to him. It’s almost like you know he has an embarassingly huge crush on you or something.)

Megumi lets himself get absorbed in his book, smiling a little at how...domestic this all seems. A slow, lazy morning with warm sunshine, a good book, hot tea, a snoring shikigami wolf, and you.

Mindlessly, he reaches for one of the pieces of toast, and, like in those ridiculous rom coms that Kugisaki forces you all to watch, his hand ends up brushing yours when you reach for the same piece.

Brilliant.

And of course, you’re both sputtering apologies, insisting the other choose first. Megumi is red as a tomato, and you’re sounding unusually flustered when the last person Megumi wants to see him right now makes his presence known with a loud snicker.

“Whoa,” Gojo smirks from his spot at the kitchen counter. “Careful, kids. That was almost some sexy premarital hand holding.”

Megumi’s getting ready to unleash Totality when he hears you laugh, easily brushing off the comment. He doesn’t know how you do it, because Gojo is just so irritating.

“What do you want, Gojo?” he grumbles, definitely not glaring at him for ruining a perfectly fine morning.

The shaman pushes off the counter, reaching over the couch to snatch both pieces of toast before either of you can protest. “I’m leaving tomorrow, so I’m pushing tomorrow’s lesson to today! We’re going to do some sparring! I’ve already dragged Itadori and Kugisaki outside, so I just came down to grab you two. So let’s go, lovebirds!”

He teleports just as Megumi’s cup of tea flies towards his face.

_____

“I’m thinking we do some two on two today,” Gojo announces once everyone’s been herded into a small clearing in the forest. “Teamwork makes the dream work, am I right?”

No one laughs. Megumi rolls his eyes. You smile politely. It’s still too early for Itadori or Kugisaki to be conscious members of society.

“Alright then! Pair up!”

You and Megumi turn to face each other, grinning a little. You two had always worked best together, having the longest history of shared training sessions under Gojo long before you’d both been officially enrolled at Jujutsu Tech (absolutely not the reason for his massive crush, totally not).

You’d trained around his technique, and he’d trained around yours. You knew his moves, he knew yours. Megumi liked Itadori and Kugisaki just fine, but you were his partner first.

But he doesn’t get to open his mouth before Gojo’s got a hand on his shoulder, and is shoving him towards Itadori.

He huffs, taking a step in your direction when Gojo waves a finger in his face. “Ah, ah! Let’s change it up a little, Megumi-chan!”

You flash him an apologetic look, shrugging as you head to the other side of the clearing with the arm of a sleep-deprived Kugisaki slung over your shoulders, whispering in your ear.

Something in him burns when he sees how close she is to you.

Beside him, Itadori yawns obnoxiously loud, stretching so his joints pop. “Man, I hope you know what you’re doing, Fushiguro. ‘Cause I have no idea how to go about beating them.”

“Me neither,” Megumi admits with a grimace. Kugisaki, he’d be fine with. You, on the other hand…There’s only been a handful of times that he’d gone up against you, and it tended to not end well for him. His shikigami were…weird around you when it came to battle. “We should try and split them up. We can definitely overwhelm them physically, so let’s try to tire them out first before bringing out any cursed techniques.”

Itadori mumbles in what he guesses is confirmation, so Megumi signals to Gojo that they’re ready. Their sensei barely looks up from his phone as he reminds them that anything short of killing or maiming is on the table.

“Winners gets to pick what we have for lunch today,” Kugisaki yells, pointing at them with what looks like a rubber mallet. “Losers pay!”

“Then you should know I like my steaks medium rare!” Itadori shouts back, cracking his knuckles. Of course he’s suddenly wide awake at the mention of food.

It’s a distraction, Megumi quickly figures out when he notices you’re not at Kugisaki’s side anymore. He scans the area, though he’s doubtful he’ll find you before your fist meets the side of Itadori’s face. You’re too stealthy.

But you don’t catch Itadori’s cheek this time. No, you sweep his legs out from under him.

“You take her,” Megumi orders, leaping over your outstretched leg and dashing for Kugisaki. He doesn’t doubt Itadori will keep you busy while he takes her out.

Kugisaki is strong, landing a couple of good hits even with a rubber mallet that squeaks each time it hits his body. It’s kinda humiliating to be dealt this much damage with a child’s toy.

When he manages to knock her back a few feet, he quickly glances behind him to see Itadori struggling to trap you in a headlock. It might not hold for long, especially when cursed energy floods your hands, but it’ll hold for long enough.

He summons his demon dog - the only one deft enough to to avoid the flying nails and swinging mallet - watching as Kugisaki’s eyes widen, and she takes off towards you.

“Go,” Megumi commands his shikigami, and it replies with a short bark before charging after her. She wisely cuts through the trees, slowing his dog down a bit, but it’s not long until it’s at her heels again. And it’s about to get her, vicious nips narrowly missing the edge of her shirt.

But then there’s a flash, accompanied by Itadori’s cry of pain, and suddenly you’re running towards your teammate. Megumi shouts at his own teammate to get up, but it’s too late. He’s laying in a heap in the grass and you’re grabbing Kugisaki’s arm, yanking her behind you and holding your hand out just as his dog has leaped into the air--

His shikigami skids to a stop in front of you, barking once before nudging his head under your palm for a pet, tail wagging enthusiastically.

“Good boy,” you praise, scratching him behind the ears as Kugisaki cackles.

Megumi runs a hand down his face, groaning. When he moves his hand, two nails are floating at his forehead.

“Megumi and Itadori lose!” Gojo announces with a laugh, sliding his shades down and casting him an amused look as you kneel down to give his demon dog a belly rub.

Kugisaki releases her technique, prattling on about ordering sushi for lunch,as Itadori sighs, patting Megumi’s shoulder.

“You know...I think I read somewhere that dogs can tell when we like someone. Do you…” His gaze flicks from him to you.

Megumi feels that familiar blush crawl up his neck as he looks away, but that’s all the answer everyone needs.
