A little alternative Dendro Archon Theory (that's totally far-fetched):

Changsheng isn't the former Dendro Archon but the Archon that is suppossed to sit on the throne now. Kusanali is only mistaken for the newborn Archon, though she is only an innocent long-lived and probably Magically talented Fae.

Alternative: The Academy knows that Kusanali is not the new archon, but has appointed her as such because an archon without divine powers is easier to control and direct.

I know that it's far-fetched. I mean why should a non divine being be able to just talk to the traveler trough pure willpower somewhere in tevyat.

I'm still shocked that those sages are keeping their archon in a tomb like room in the middle of the City (the door doesn't look like it's suppossed to get open again) probably there's not even any plants in her room (would explain her weakend state).

These fu*&* literally buried their God alive or at least taking her hostage (as far as possible)! I wouldn't mind to go ape shit and just let some scholar heads roll to make a statement ^^"

I agree with all point but one. Buer never created anything to separate forest and desert people, even if it was interpreted as such or recorded as such by the academia... Who're bastard anyways who manipulated things for 500years without Buer input.

The Wall of Samiel wasn't created to keep people out, but to prevent desertification. (It's literally name for a desert wind). It's very likely that it was created with Dreshet blessing too, since 2 of the 3 gods of Sumeru where dendro aligned (flowers and forest/life)

She also never fought against the people of the desert. She split off to build civilization in rainforest when Dreshet choose to go against the heavenly principle, and when Dreshet goes mad, unleashing elezar and whitering, she actively assisted in suppressing the corruption and help the people survives.

All to say, Nahida/Buer have nothing to do with how the bad treatment of eremites, and it was literally one of her first project to support the developpement of school in the desert. And supplies approvisionnement.

the way the sumeru rainforest people + akademiya scholars treat the eremites + other desert people actually sucks

one researcher npc talks about how he thinks one of the mercenaries guarding Pardis Dhyai would steal their research flowers and that he thought Eremites were "a group of reserved brutes" — the mercenary in question tells us that he's just bored and curious and nobody wants to talk to him

another merc talks about how he doesn’t really understand the scholars' fancy talk but he's still trying to do so

they call Cyno a "desert dwarf" on a message board

"It's not that I'm biased towards anyone from the desert, but I think the General Mahamatra should be a renowned researcher, especially with academic issues that couldn't be solved with fisticuffs." — first, starting off with "i'm not biased, but-" is already a horrible thing, but they really think that cyno is all brawn no brains simply because he's from the desert?

they have no business treating them like that just because they're from the desert and their culture is a bit different. ugh idk i'm feeling strongly about this since it's been made kind of clear that the desert people have darker skin compared to the paler rainforest people who y'know praise a goddess who created something to keep them away from each other

ALSO the treatment of the other matras?

if you talk to them, they seem so happy and excited to help/talk to someone because people usually avoid them

always saying "don't be nervous!"

people even avoid them when they're off duty

but every other character acts as if they're heartless and just exist to impose the rules on people

the matras in general kind of remind me of resident assistants – who i know first hand prefer when residents see them as more than 'the person who i need to hide things from' or 'the person only needed for emergencies'

Y'know how electro is for 'those who don’t fit in'? I think we're going to see a lot of instances supporting that when it comes to Cyno because of his job and since he's from the desert.
