People treat Niko and Edwin's friendship as an "opposites attract" situation but in reality they are both very kind people who pride themselves on knowledge and their ability to help others despite their struggles with isolation and social rejection from being sent away to boarding school. They're not besties in spite of their differences, they're besties bc theyre exactly the same.

i'm such a fan of the charles fell first scenario, because, while i do think edwin realized his feelings first, i firmly believe that charles fell in love with edwin in that attic as he was dying

because you're cold and scared, but this strange boy finds you and gives you a lantern after saying he won't harm you after being betrayed by people who you thought were your friends

you're cold and a little less scared because this boy stays with you and listens to you and answers all your questions and reads to you as if you're not the burden you think you are

you're not cold, and you're not scared anymore, and you're dead, and this boy tells you he knew you were dying but he didn't say anything because he didn't want to scare you and you've never, ever felt so peaceful and safe in your entire life and you never want that feeling to end

but now he's trying to leave, and you can't let that happen, you can't let go of this kind, wonderful boy you've just met, so you ask him if you can stay with him

but he tells you that he just got out of hell, but that can't be right because he's so kind and wonderful and too good for a world full of cruel people so it must have been a mistake, and tells you to follow the blue light

but you can't let go of this beautiful, kind, wonderful boy yet, so you tell him that you're staying with him and when the blue light comes, bathing the boy you're going protect and follow to the ends of the earth in an otherworldly blue, you know you've made the right decision

and if that's not love, i don't know what is

I don’t know the right words to describe the devastation I’m feeling, but I started this before I found out and I guess I’ll finish it eventually

Charles and Edwin are quite literally ’right person wrong time’ to such a high degree fate had to step in and ensure they could still spend eternity together.

Okay but it doesn't make sense, I mean everything pointed to a renewal: they had season 2 practically already written and just 2 weeks ago George made all those cameos hinting at season 2, replying to those who asked about future plans for the characters things like "I already know how it ends", "We just have to wait to see this and that" and he seemed quite hopeful (and honestly like he knew that there was a future for the show and the characters).

Of course, I'm not saying he already knew and fooled us because we know how much he cares about the show and about Edwin and about the fandom, quite the opposite more likely he was informed later (and I can't begin to imagine how heartbroken he must be now, along with the rest of the cast), but what I don't understand is he must have asked for permission to talk about Dead Boy Detectives and Edwin's character and to say things like that, otherwise he could've simply redirected the answers to a more neutral ground instead of teasing, so I don't know, there's just something that doesn't sit well with me with this cancellation.
