Glass Onion Spoilers - Tumblr Posts - Page 2
“until you can’t tell a prop knife from a real one” and “I want to be remembered in the same breath as the mona lisa” are the same levels of gut punch that truly elevate the knives out series btw
One of what, in my opinion, is the funniest reaction to glass onion is people seeing Hugh Grant answer the door and thinking. Ah yes. Benoit Blanc is married to Hugh Grant. Not Hugh Grant's character, but Hugh Grant himself.
And then they are utterly awestruck when in the captions on Netflix he is referred to as "Phillip" and not real life person Hugh Grant
One thing I was eager to watch again when Glass Onion came out was the glass scene between Miles and Duke, and it did not disappoint. In theaters, I was so sure that Duke picked up the glass, so I figured that they showed us that the first time around before revealing that’s not what happened, but no. They trick the shit out of the audience the EXACT same way they trick the characters. They just tell you that you saw something different and you believe it without question. It’s so brilliant and I just got goosebumps watching it over again and realizing how easily I had been manipulated. I love these movies.
Literally the entire point of glass onion is that every single person was willing to buy the lie that miles bron was a genius because they didn't want to accept that "the system" is flawed.
We believe that wealth = intelligence because if we accept that stupid and lazy people can make billions of money from the backs of others, than people could no longer believe in the comforting lie that anyone can "pull up their bootstraps and become rich, if they're willing to hard work enough"
Politicians, scientists, and even real genius detectives were all willing to accept the obvious lie that miles bron is brilliant because it benefits them in some way to do so.
The point is that the louvre would be 100% willing to give miles bron the real Mona Lisa because being intentional ignorant of miles brons stupidity was incredibly profitable. If the louvre "outsmarted" miles by giving him a fake, than that defeats the entire message of the movie.
That being, no one was willing to actually disrupt the system, expect for Andi and Helen. Yes, even highly regarded institutions like the louvre can be complicit in upholding toxic, harmful systems--thats literally the point of the movie.
Bond girls are out. Blanc girls (underprivileged women who screw over rich assholes with the help of this silly detective) are in.
"It wasnt the real mona lisa bc the real mona lisa was painted on wood and thats clearly canvass" versus "It was the real Mona Lisa, just suspend your disbelief for a second" --- fam. Both options are good. Both options are great.
Either it was the real mona lisa, in which case, Miles Bron is a murdering idea-stealing phony who will be forever known as the guy who destroyed THEE mona lisa, and there is absolutely no coming back from that ----
OR, it was a fake, bc the museum was like "lmfao this joker thinks we'd loan him the ACTUAL mona lisa? Ahahahahaha" in which case, there's all the initial press coverage of the explosion and the shitty fuel and the murders and then the revelation that THEE MONA LISA was destroyed on Miles Bron's watch, and all of that plays out across the media, and THEN!!! the Lourve gets to step forward saying "dont worrry guys. We never gave him the real painting. We didn't trust him with it. We gave him a fake and he never noticed," which the media would have a FIELD DAY with, because it's like the resurrection of Jesus only with a painting, instead of a person, and also, the whole thing is funny as FUCK, bc they gave him a fake and he didnt notice, and also-also, clearly the Lourve was ahead of the curve when it came to recognising Miles' stupidity, and it'll stay in the media for WEEKS, that Miles was conned by the lourve and clearly they were right to trick him because LOOK WHAT HAPPENED to the fake Mona lisa, PLUS of course all the rest of the stuff like the 2 murders and the hydrogen fuel and the idea theft and etc.
Like?? There's no losing here. Both options are great. If it was real, then he'll never live it down, and if it was fake, he'll never live it down. Either way: fantastic
it was so funny in glass onion when helen was literally just like "well what if miles just killed andi" and blanc was like naaaah he wouldn't do that. that'd be such a stupid thing to do. miles bron is not an idiot. and then the whole point of the movie was that he WAS an idiot and he DID just kill her. they put it right in front of us and a lot of people probably dismissed it (at least i did) cause we were expecting the murderer to be cunning like they usually are

How am I supposed to enjoy the Dungeons & Dragons movie when all I'm going to be thinking when I see Hugh Grant on screen being the bad guy (?) is, "Oh dip, Benoit Blanc's husband is in this."
I watched Glass Onion and Cassandra and Helen are names of women from Greek Mythology and the movie takes place in Greek. Let me do some research because I think there is some purpose behind those names.
Cassandra was cursed for saying no to someone important. Her curse was she would speak the truth but never be believed.
Helen started a war.
That is all rather fitting

everyone is out here with these fantastic theories and metaphors in glass onion
but i just can't stop laughing at miles bron's face when blanc says that he got the box with its stupid "children's puzzles" that took him less than a minute to solve like. that motherfucker was so offended and i loved every second of it
The fact that Glass Onion takes place on a Greek island and there's a character named Cassandra who speaks only the truth but no one believes her then a woman named Helen who brings the downfall of what seemed to be an untouchable empire
