My aunt was a teenager when she started working. She used to clean tables at cafes - she wasn't hired, but get paid a little money for that. And you now that? A guy from her class tried to mock her for doing this job, because he, just like some people from this convo, believed that this work is degrading. Oh yes, you think YOU are different from him because you "protect" people, but please take a grip. Saying "oh poor you, forced to do this horrible dehumanizing job!!!" is not supportive in any way.
The same aunt used to work as personal chef for a family once. And you know that? She loved that. She's great at cooking and she got a very (and I say VERY) good money for helping that family. She's still talking about them with a great sympathy, some 15 years later.
How far would you guys extend the list of this "horrible humiliating jobs created by rich people"? Should we also get rid of babysitters? You know, it's a hell of a job and, well, we should be able to do it on our own.
People don't have to seek your fckng exuse to hire someone to help them. They don't have to explain WHY they're looking for help. Also, someone HAS to do this jobs. There's a lot of people working as cleaners at public places, and it has to be done. Again, you're NOT HELPING by pointing your fingers and saying it's a bad job. If you want to help, you can make sure they get paid enough. You're worried about situations this people might be at to do this job? When focus your efforts on helping people who might be in trouble! Don't talk about getting rid of the jobs that might be someone's only option to make money! They're not gonna stop being poor because there's no job from evil riches, on the contrary, they might end up agreeing to something worse. And don't talk about service jobs like no one would do them willingly. You're not helping.
