what she means: kaz brekker, bastard of the barrel, most dangerous man in ketterdam, didn't give a single fuck about wylan's learning disability and still thought he was useful and great at other things. wylan was probably scared of getting scolded or belittled by the criminal prodigy who had little to no conscience, but kaz brekker literally figured "so what if he can't read?" because wylan could do so many other useful things, as well. instead of being angry, he shrugged and came up with another plan, without punishing wylan in any way whatsoever, for not being a "good enough" investment, which may come as a shock to some people. he might have known beforehand, and even then, he still complimented wylan because the boy thought like a lock pick.
Rollins: I will make you regret the day you were born!
Kaz: Too late, I already do.
Rollins:
Kaz: ……I mean, I will ruin you!
Jesper: Alright, Kiss, Marry, Kill….. Rollins, Matthias and Van-Eck-The-Jerk.
Kaz: Kill all them.
Jesper: That’s—That’s not how the game works…
How Shadow and Bones Differentiate Villain and Anti-Hero
Alright, first I need to claim the fact that I love dark, edgy, but misunderstood bad boy in stories with the potential of epic redemption. Loki from Marvel. Jason Todd from DC. Captain Hook from Once Upon a Time. Zuko from AtLA. You name them, I simp them.
So when I watched this new show on Netflix and shown a tall, handsome man in dark clothing, both respected and feared for his power. I feel… nothing.
WHICH IS WEIRD! Like… he’s obviously my type. Complete with the sad backstory and vicious streak. So I kept wondering why I wasn’t enamored by the Darkling, Alexander Kirigan. I wasn’t surprised he was the main villain, I even expected it. But I usually at least have a bit of sympathy for them. This OOC behavior of mine made me introspect myself and the show, trying to find out which part gave me the red flags before Mother Darkling decides to pop the chosen one out halfway in the season.
That’s when it hit me; there were red flags! The show had been subtly trying to tell us Kirigan is a manipulative boyfriend not just by great acting and good directing, but by comparing him with the actual anti-hero of the story who I actually love; Kaz Brekker.
Here’s the list of signs you might not notice of why Kirigan is meant to be a Villain instead of an Anti-Hero.

What is the most heartbreaking scene you've ever written? Tell me.
I'll go first.
“Kaz!”
Kaz turned quickly to see Lilith coming into the Clearing and holding a small girl in her arms, blood all over both of them.
Kaz swiftly made his way over to the two of them and took the girl from Lilith.
“I’m okay, Bailam. I’m not hurt,” croaked the little girl, face smeared in ash.
He set her down, eyes combing over her body. “Go see Einid anyway for me.”
She nodded quickly and ran off. Kaz stood up straight and turned to Lilith shakily, panic rising in his chest as he looked at her. There was more blood on her abdomen than anywhere else and she started swaying when she followed his eyes, pressing a hand to it as blood continued to well up and spill out.
He grabbed her as gently as he could manage when she collapsed. He avoided touching the side the blood was coming from as much as he could as he slowly lowered them to the ground.
“Deleon, you have to hold on,” he whispered.
“Now, why would I… want to do that?” she asked weakly, blood trickling out of the corner of her mouth and staining her teeth and lips crimson.
“You have to… Lilith, stay with me. You have to hold on. Ia can help you.” He felt a tear roll down his cheek that she wiped away with a bloody hand. “Please… please just hold on.”
She shrugged lightly, wincing. “I’m not important in the grand scheme of Inasvale.”
He forced her eyes to meet his. “You’re important to me. I can't- I can't lose you too…” his voice cracked and he closed his eyes tight. He glanced behind him, “Someone! Help!”
“Did you ever… really have me?” she croaked, drawing his eyes back to her. She placed a bloody hand on his cheek.
“I did, I did have you-“ He kissed her forehead and then her mouth, staining his lips red with her blood. “Everything is going to be okay, I promise.”
