I think if the rating was upped to PG /PG13 and the episode were a bit longer like 30m/episodes we would have gotten so much missed out content of our riders just being badass, seeing actual whoooumps, and a legit Hiccstrid make-out or two [like the closest we got was the Mi Amore Wing and KoD pt2 snippet]. Like they are 18-20 and unsupervised. The creators had the perfect opportunity to unleash the gang battle dynamics even more. Gosh danggit. 🤦♀️
Lyf headcanons pt4
I've seen a lot of AUs and crossovers with HTTYD and can't help but think what if there was a new AU crossover of Vincenzo(kdrama) and Hiccstrid.
It would make for such an entertaining headcanon idea, like imagine a ruthless Hiccup who's playing Vincenzo being a badass mafia lawyer and Astrid being Cha Young, a brazen bold tenacious lawyer but with a twist of HTTYD universe. Although come to think about it Ruffnut's personality suits Cha Young more...
Since their personalities clash it would be messy if not written properly. But I want to see Hiccup as an antihero character who wants peace just as much as canon Hiccup and is ruthless enough to use merciless justice to achieve it. And as amazingly badass as Astrid is physically Cha Young's mental strength is something I think would very much complement these female leads very well.
Given Hiccstrid's witty comebacks and snarks (coughmainlyHiccup'scough), it would be fun to see them out of the Viking physical fighting stereotype for a bit and see Hiccstrid as badass lawyers who use wits and words instead of Inferno and the axe.
With enough backstory in this AU would be such a fun take since Vincenzo is dealing with the corruption of the law and HTTYD is dealing with adaptation and transformation from the old into the new (aka traditions to moderness).
The dragons would have to be inexistent tho. Else it's gonna be weird considering it to be a modern AU. Imagine Toothless as Inzhagi lmao.
And Viggo as Choi Myung Hee. Maybe Dagur as Park Seok Do or Hwang Min Seong. And Drago or Grimmel as Jang Han Seok. There would definitely be a lot of OC's as well.
And without the whole Maces and Talons metaphor, coz while it was a fun mind game it, soon got old with how much it was mentioned. And Viggo's actions were kind of predictable season four onwards once Hiccup match up with his game.
(P.s. this is just me being salty on the writers rtte coz some episodes especially seaason five onwards it felt more of like wasted potential rather than fulfilling. Like King of Dragons or 1&2 felt so rushed like huh?!) Anyays rants aside feel free to disagree.
Should I write it? Maybe I'll pos some headcanons here. It's gonna be a WIP.
Reason why I think Cha Young shouldn't have killed Jang Han Seok / Choi Myung Hee
Putting it under the cut.
I think I finally understand why in the last episodes of the series Cha Young is scripted to be injured and unable to kill Hank Seok and Myung Hee; much to our chagrin.
It's because Cha young is a legal working official. No matter how morally grey she is. It doesn't change the fact that she does not have blood on her hands. She did not cause death. Even when she tortured the three killers or threatened the truck driver, she only cause suffering, it was Vincenzo and his underdogs (which Vincenzo eventually kills) who predicted and carried out the death.
Compared to Mr Han, Jang Han Seok, Choi Myung Hee and other officials, the only corrupt things she has done are mainly to bribe her witnesses and others related to the case to get their testimonies. She climbed the corporate work ladder using her abilities in court, she became Wusang's Ace in 8 years due to her skills. Not because she bribed and got a promotion. She even hands cases she dealt with without Wusang's knowledge to Vincenzo. This shows her competency.
Even though she says to share the danger, and consequences of the dark side of Vincenzo's world, she knows and he knows that adapting to a world like that is undeniably daunting and draining.
Cha Young knowing her way around the toxicity of the upper-class conglomerates and the wimpy law system doesn't mean she's fully capable of assimilating into a bleak deadly world of the mafia or even killing.
She may fight (I hc Mr Tak shows her moves of self defense), she may be unapologetic for all the suffering she has caused. But she cannot get into that state of villianity just yet.
Vincenzo got into that realm because he joined it willingly at a young age. The perfect time to learn and hone. Now all his tricks and abilities are second nature to him. That's why he mentions his plans by using the term "mafia" every time he plans something (ie the court scene with the hornets ep6 / discussing pig's blood ep13). He's used to it, and he needs to show that his methods were common and not at all offending hence he used the "mafia" word to give an example, to make it seem to everyone that his way is effective and has been tried and tested. To convince.
No matter how much we want Cha Young to torture Jang Han Seok and Choi Myung Hee like how Vincenzo delivered their deaths, she won't. Because she hasn't assimilated to that life. She's still hanging on her moral compass though it's pointing the wrong way. She says it herself in ep 19 when Vincenzo gives her an out. "What we've been doing was hard on me. It hurt me. But I pushed through and chose your methods. Because it was the lesser evil."
She chose Vincenzo because he was her partner. But that is not the only reason. She didn't put blind faith in him. She didnt blindly accept him and his actions. She chose Vincenzo's methods because she knows there was no other way to bring Jang Han seok down. She aces in court, she can demolish her opponents. Heck, she demolished her father's case and he has 22 more years of experience than her. But that doesn't mean accepting Vincenzo's actions didn't make her question herself.
It did.
And it led her to be a more morally grey Jipuragi CEO than the competent lawyer at Wusang.
This in all honesty just a rebuttal against those calling out the writer and director for making Vincenzo end the two villains because MC privileges rigging CY. But I'm still salty for that to happen she had to get shot. It felt like a rushed scene. Theu should have done something else.
And by the way, what I said doesn't mean she isn't capable of what Vin does. But it would need years of exposure to such vile backgrounds as the mafia and she would have gone through a more intense character arc than the one we see in the show for her to enable to do such things Vin does.
But that said, I don't see it out of character for CY to unintentionally kill someone for the people she cares (ahem Vinny ahem) while trying to fight the bad guys.
All im saying is the ending felt earned to me IMHO and this is a stance on why I support the writer and director for ending the villains' fate in Vin's hands rather than CY's.

Vincenzo: Fanmeta: In the finale, Cha-young no longer believed in the possibility that she and Vincenzo would become romantic partners
There is something deeply heart-wrenching about how Cha-young reacts to Vincenzo's declarations in episode 19 and 20.
By staying in Korea instead of going to Italy to help his family, Vincenzo has finally acknowledged what Cha-young really means to him and how he wants her to be in his life. The same man who struggled to reciprocate the hug in the underpass, who couldn't even look at Cha-young when Cha-young was hugging him a second time, who joked about there being a kissing "scene" rather than recognizing the realness of what happened at the art gallery, is now openly declaring his interest and affection for Cha-young at every possible moment. Expressing jealousy, promising to come back, stroking her hair, stating that they were similar to the Cowherd and Weaver Girl, outright confessing that she's always been on his mind since he left A YEAR AGO.
He is finally comfortable in his feelings. He's ready to move forward in his relationship with Cha-young.
But Cha-young isn't.
She spent months testing the waters, pushing the boundaries of their relationship. She knows she's important to him, but he never crossed that border with her. So she prepared herself for their ending. She prepared herself so thoroughly that she cannot even imagine that an alternate ending might present itself. That she might have her fantasies and desires actualized one day.
He compares them to one of the most famous romantic couples in Asian folklore. She treats it as a joke. Even when he pushes that he's being sincere, you can see her dismiss it immediately.
He's staring at her while she gets ready for the reunion, but there is no blush or pleasure on her face when she catches him. There's almost confusion. Remember her expression of expectation when he leaned towards her in the car and she thought he would kiss her?
He stayed by her hospital bed all night and reiterates that he'll keep his promise to come back to her when she mentions it's their last night together. She doesn't even acknowledge what he says - just tells him to leave without saying good-bye.
He initiates a hug with her for the first time in their relationship. She keeps her returning touch light, herself stoic until after he leaves.
When he returns, he says that she's always been on his mind. She isn't touched or shocked. She just... doesn't believe it. She knows that they're important to each other, but the idea that he yearns for her the way she yearns for him was something she stopped believing. This isn't something that could happen, and because it's not something that could happen, what's happening is not actually happening. (Because you can only be hurt by abandonment if you expect someone to stay. And she has been abandoned so many times by so many people that she knows what the more likely ending would always be.)
In that split second, Vincenzo realizes that she isn't misunderstanding or teasing him or flirting or playing hard to get. All those months of him struggling to deal with his feelings, of him remaining reserved and distant caused cracks. Vincenzo once told her to make her heart cold, but he didn't realize she would apply the lesson this way. And that if he doesn't fix the situation right now, no amount of gold will help him remake what's broken.
So he fixes it. And he does so decisively with no room for mis-interpretation or second-guessing, in the way he has always expressed his care for Cha-young: through action.

I would rise at wee hours to go to long night walks deep into the woods and watch the sunrise overlooking the island on a cliff before going to the Meade Hall ready to eat a breakfast of eggs and dry stale yet cheey and filling bread before i go to train with my weapon.
I would be back by noon for lunch of mutton and potatoes before helping my parents at the docks by sorting the fish my mother's two terrors fish for the upcoming harvest festival and keep vigil with my father's nightmare and my nadder for enemy ships getting my pay cut . Then end up back at the woods to practise dodging and reflexes with my nadder till sun down.
I end up taking a fast flight to the furthest seastack in Berk's territory doung tricks with my girl before returning with a slow flight as she glides close to the watwr and i lie myself down on her, truating her completely. The water sprays on my cooling me and refreshes me as it cleans her and reflects her scales. Back in the stables i groom her collecting the spines and scales she sheds (which can be sold as jewelery) and feed her a healthy surplus of chicken and fish. Make sure her pen is clean and neat before i head to the hall for dinner.
I sit next to my friends as we sing songs for fun, micmic people and share stories to fill the space just as how we fill out bellies with mead and healthy servings of fish and mutton stew and sweet juicy fruit kept ice cold in the ice box and drizzled with honey for desert.
I go back to the stables to cuddle and talk to my dragon as she curls around me, her tail at my feet, meeting her beak, her wings covering my legs giving me comfort as i sharpen my weapon.
It ends with my climbing up to my room in the top of my house and listen to the snores of my parents and chirps of crickets before i close my eyes, ready to face the next day.
If i lived on Berk i would collect rocks to give to people. I would pick absently at the grass. I would think about how everything on the island towers over me. i would bury little keepsakes knowing no one would ever find them. I would feed terrors like crows. I would look at the blue moon over the ocean. I would look at the stars with no air or light pollution. I would listen for all the birds i could find. I would collect pine needles. I would listen to the noise of shoes on wood. I would climb as high as I could. I would throw rocks into the cove. I would see shapes in the clouds. I would hear rain on a wooden roof every night. I would have a helmet with horns and a shield. I would try to string together no-one had ever said before. I would get headaches from the smell of ash and smoke. I would give people presents made of anything I could find. I would smell the sea and farmland and rain every day. I would be so so happy.
Writing a hiccstrid make out scene from rtte, just some romance and like like alot of romance amd lots hurt/comfort where both of them talked about their mesaed up selves, and getting to know and understand eachother through their relationship, and confessions for a dare prompt.

Tbh httyd had lots of great characters. But my favourite would need to boil down to the gang. I csnt choose between any of them because they are all different personalities i would wish for in my own friends circle
But inside the gang i would choose hiccstrid as my favourite for being a role model, with hiccup giving second chances and to become better at being snarky, and also i relate to alot of his impuslive decisions(im adhd,) and astrid for helping me with my confidence and determinstion and dedication
Ngl i relate to snotty boi the most, dramatic, sometimes a compulsive liar (like lying im busy studying so i dont need to hang out with classmates and i can binge rtte again), helpful when needed, an author, lazybag etc.
Ruff amd tuff helped me be more carefree and crazy (i love making a mess but i dont like clesning it up lmao)
Fishlegs helped me find my interest in random facts, like buddy sign me tf when we can inspect dragon scales and identify genders and species. Im a nerd okay shush
Exams are mentally and physically draining and the only thing that is worse thsn having work piled up on you and having a bad day is the lack of jungkook's sunshiney comfort lives to make my day better-
I jast wanna rant to him ngl. Wanna be like "Bro can you believe this.........." and him just starting and letting us vent.
