Well, your acquaintance in the forest was ordinary, although Alan immediately noticed the detachment and straightforwardness of s/o, but for some reason it attracted the guy.
We remember this look at Stu, he used to look at other s/o acquaintances like that, because they can distract attention!
I do not know, but I think Alan is not so good at understanding people, but he is very observant. And when he understands s/o's attitude towards himself and other people, he can rejoice! After all, this is "love" in his concept.
If he sees that s/o feels uncomfortable somewhere or with someone, and then suddenly leaves the conversation, then he doesn't mind at all. He 'll just follow them .

He is so happy with the realization that only he and only he can get all this affection! Only he can hug her! Only he can get this kiss from her or hear a sincere laugh!
The guy really appreciates this s/o behavior, because all the "extra" will not interfere with him, and Alan will get this s/o warmth.
Alan will do anything and remove anyone to protect this treasure... you.
