Gallows Humour

The darker, more dangerous, and dire, the situation, the more likely you are to have a human being making a joke, in bad taste, about it.

It’s called Gallows Humour and is a psychological coping mechanism for coping with the dire situation, especially when you think, or feel, you’re about to die. “The ego refuses to be distressed by the provocations of reality, to let itself be compelled to suffer. It insists that it cannot be affected by the traumas of the external world.” - Sigmund Freud.
In addition to relieving stress, gallows humour has the added social benefit of boosting morale and camaraderie. It also undermines the confidence of the enemy. If you are in a foxhole being bombed by artillery and the enemy hears you laughing or singing songs, well, they realize they’re not doing a very good job of killing you, or at the very least, making you pants-peeing terrified.
At his public execution, the murderer William Palmer is said to have looked at the trapdoor on the gallows and asked the hangman, “Are you sure it’s safe?”
Imagine the reactions of aliens who see humans in a life or death situation, or actually about to die because of execution or injury, yet we’re cracking bad jokes or singing ironic songs, like “Always Look on The Bright Side of Life” by Monty Python.
To them, we’re either insane or unshakable. Or both.

The Three Dragons, or, Repentence, Revelry, and the Hero Resolve (a tale of Onde)
So when I offered to go telling stories from my D&D game the other, I got several votes for the elves, and I wrote that one out, but several people were also very interested in the dragons, and, well. The Hero Resolve is one of my very favorite not-technically-a-god-but-honestly-might-as-well-be NPCs in this game, and making up folklore for a world that doesn’t exist is pretty damn awesome, so–

No quería llegar a esto, pero en fin. Solo le he pedido que eliminase el code en cuestión y ya está, podía quedarse todo ahí. Desglosándolo, ha removido y añadido cosas, adaptándolo para el público (pues el mío es para uso personal y hasta el texto está hecho con photoshop), sin embargo, todavía conserva algunos detalles.
