This post is made because I read that article about how Mohg the Lord of Blood from Elden Ring is a 'bad queer representation' because he's such a dark villain. Look, Mohg is not meant to represent anyone in the queer community, he's a villain who happen to have queer element that your Tarnished can kill or ignore. That's it.

its not fair to judge him as an offensive or harmful representation when he wasn't even a formal stand-in personification for the entire LGBTQIA+ community in the first place.

Yes Mohg is a villain, yes he is queer and that is fine. Mohg being queer doesn't mean the LGBT community is a villain, but it's just HIM who happens to be a bad guy. And just because a queer person exist doesn't mean they have to act as THE ambassador as well.

While I think Queer representation is important I don't think it is fair to demand every media/art out there that happens to have queer element/ people/chara on them to be this shining, pure example of what queerness should be or something to represent us to the cishet.

And demanding those media to adhere to some high standard and has to be 'respondsible'. Then you get mad at the media when it doesn't satisfy your need to see this high standard, responsible socio political representation.

Hell for God sake a story can have queer people only mentioned and it would be fine, sure, it would be better to have more in-depth and involved queer theme but I won't call the Witcher 3 as irredeemable media just because it only has one outspoken gay dude.

Like I said even for a deliberately queer centric/representing media, they don't have to be squeaky clean. Queer stories and art can be messy, they can be horrific, funny, dramatic or even just shit posting. They can be for mainstream audience, they can be for niche audience. They can be completely sfw, they can be deranged hentai.

If the straight can just do whatever they wanted, why can't we? Why our existence must always be scrutinized under a limelight and we must always behave in our best behavior?

"Oh if the straights sees us acting freaky then they will never accept us and our rights—" the fault lies on cishet society for being bigoted not on us LGBTQIA+ people who just want to live.

It's good to have goodie two shoes queers in media, it's great to have morally gray and complex queer protagonist and queer villain is also awesome. Some queer can be THE representation, others can be just a part of that story. And it's fine. It is FINE.
