Genuinely, I get it, the cannibalism blah blah blah, but PLEASE can we talk about how important her relationship with her mother is?? To me, the most important part of strangers is before the second chorus talking about her mothers reaction to what happened to Ethel and at the very end when she's talking to her mom, "and that I never blamed you for loving me the way that you did when you were torn apart". That line KILLS me, having a mother who's dealing with SO MUCH that it affects her ability to be there for her kid, that Ethel does not blame her for that, she's forgiven it all as it comes back to her. Like it's one of the themes that is extremely consistent the entirety of PD. I don't know, I just wished more people would talk about it, cause it kind of drives me crazy
