Say what you will about the overall plot of No Gain No Love but I LOVE the character consistency with which they write the FL. Hae-young learns her fake contract husband is the illegitimate child of her company's CEO and a possible chaebol heir so what does she do? Immediately starts plotting how her husband can take over the company.
Her unapologetic ambition and shamelessness is so refreshing.
Lol her after realizing the reality of the situation and unlikelihood of beating the evil chaebol family looking up labor laws instead.
Pragmatist to the end. (And apparently union girl.)

Ja-yeon: Listen, you're a good person regardless of the choice you make. But we all know too well the kind of hell created by a parent who's not ready to be one.
Ji-uk: Being brought into the world uninvited, and being the reason it ruins someone life...once was enough, when I was born.
I so appreciate when shows talk about abortion in such a direct and non-moralizing way. And it makes so much sense how folks with their particular backgrounds discussed it.
Start crying or something so I can comfort you. Give me a second.

No matter what others may say, you're way too good for him. You're an amazing person Jayeon. I can't let someone like him take you. Look at you. I guess our Jayeon-ie is all grown up now. You even found love.
NO GAIN NO LOVE - EPISODE 10
tbh i think it's a pretty sane reaction to disgusted when you find out that the person who agreed to be your fake husband, to live in your house, to be your boyfriend etc has known since you first met who you were and who your mother is and actually they were close and he lived in your house (that you now both live in) but he never told you even though he met your mother in front of you - this is a legit reason to wonder if he's had weird stalker-ish motives behind his actions this entire time and there's also the fact that he basically lied and omitted a huuuuge part of his life and your connection despite wanting to be in a serious relationship with you
So how does No Gain No Love answer the age old writing question of "how do you avoid the penultimate episode slump?"
By having a chaebol beat his girlfriend's murderer father with her foster sister's two lightsaber dildos.
Obviously.
I want whatever this writer was on when writing this scene because clearly it's the good stuff.
No Gain No Love: Final Thoughts
No Gain No Love is a great example of "vibes over everything" but I'm really going to miss this morsel of a drama come next Monday. Despite its many flaws, it was fun and touching--the perfect pick-me-up to start your week.
Would recommend if you enjoy dramas that:
Are committed to being deeply deeply unserious
And yet at the drop of a hat can become heartfelt about difficult topics in a refreshingly unfussy way
Have women characters who feel modern and real, and who get to be unapologetic about what they want despite what society might think
Talk frankly about sex and relationships
Don't rely on the main couple for the emotional beats of the story and instead explore the many types of love between friends, family, and everything in-between.
And if you're looking for something complex, meticulously plotted, and, you know, not borderline insane? Maybe save it for a rainy day. Like Hae-yeong’s box from the attic.
