#RedWingedBlackbird
Mature Red-winged Blackbird enjoying some black oil sunflower seeds. And this little one is probably new in the area; he’s so stressed out that I had to slow down the speed while remastering the video.
#PurpleFinch
Gram'Pa Purple Finch out for his weekly visit. It is funny and also a bit sad...
By instinct we used to think that all birds migrate and that it's a normal process. Sadly not all of them are still able to. Like all of us they get old and sometimes gain weight. Those ones who are force to stay the entire winter with us take a chance and count roughly on their survival skills.
I built some shelters for those brave ones who are left behind and continue to feed them but unfortunately most of them die. This is one sadly part of a bird's life. Like all of us. There's nothing more to do except enjoying their presence while they are here.
#SunflowerSeeds
A moment to harvest some black oil sunflower seeds for our friends the birds.
#EveningRaven
A visit from a new friend today and looks like it's love at first sight to me. I'm so happy to see these beautiful species near the house now. It's a powerful big juvenile Canadian Northern Raven who really likes what he's been served here in our feeding stations this morning.
This big guy is easily frightened from the leans of my camera like most wild animals. should I say. He tries to hide his head between is shoulders like a poor fella. And then behind those branches of that, more or less, 80 feet tall dead spruce. Even making some small noises/imitations of other animals, like a frog, to divert attention from him. So cute. I have many videos of that kind of situation but unfortunately to big to upload here.
Welcome friend.
#NostalgicRaven
Diane always feels nostalgic when it rains.
#NorthernRaven
Beautiful 5 to 6 years old young female enjoying fresh pork meat.
#EveningGrosbeak
The Evening Grosbeaks are back just in time to try our new, very simple homemade, feeding stations that have been installed just for them at, more or less, 20' from the house.
This morning they were like 30 to 40 of them with us for breakfast. And if they're satisfied with that, they could stay around here the entire Winter.
The Ability to Visually Recognize Individual Humans.
#NorthernRaven
Morning visit from one of our friends of the Corvid family. We named her Diane and she's about 5 to 6 years old. With a wingspan of 45 to 51" and a mass around 2 to 3 pounds, she's the largest and the heaviest in her species. Quite amazing for a passerine bird right?
And right now she want a chicken egg so we better give it to her.
#NorthernRaven
Northern Raven captured at dawn through a bay-window; so you need to pump-up the volume.
#BlueJays
07:03 in the morning after a stormy night. These Blue Jays are always hungry and also very wet. The last one seems very intrigued about the new 1080 wifi camera.
#MourningDove
An happy Mourning Dove.
#Rose-breasted Grosbeak
No one can really be sure around here when Spring Season has officially arrived with all these temperature variations.
But when Grosbeaks appear with their beautiful colored breast then, we officially know.
