Happy 42nd Birthday to Paul Wesley. He played Stefan Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries.

The reason I ship couples like Steroline (Vampire Diaries, Stefan Salvatore x Caroline Forbes) is that they fell for each other when they had no one left to love. When all their other options had been exhausted. 

To me, that love is the kind that screams I will love you. I will love you because I have no one left to love. And I don’t know what that love will become if I don’t spend it on you. 

Ironically, this is the exact reason people don’t ship it/view it as a forced relationship. While I can very well see the reasoning behind this, I think that they make for a sort of stubborn love that, in it’s own way, is a choice. A desperate one but a choice nonetheless.

Nobody can ever perfectly replicate a past actor and that's not the point of such a casting either.

Besides, I'd argue that being able to act the mannerisms and personality is way more important to a character than their appearance.

Paul Wesley gets a lot of shit for not looking much like Shatner’s Kirk (even though he’s got the mannerisms down perfectly), which seems unfair considering he looks exactly like TAS Kirk
