Springtime was Izumi’s favourite time of the year. Not too hot, not too cold… Perfect. She adored the way the warm sun kissed her pale skin and the cool, luscious breeze blew her hair behind her as she strolled through the Leaf Village, keen to see her childhood best friend.

It had been far, far too long since they had met together. With missions keeping Izumi busy on top of training, cooking, cleaning, and everything else life had thrown at her, she terribly missed her dear friend, Ryuu.

When her bestie came into her field of vision, she couldn’t help but grin and open her arms, inviting her in for a well-needed best friend cuddle.

“Hey, you! I’ve been pretty tired with back-to-back missions and stuff, but aside from that, I’ve been fine. How have you been? I’ve missed you, too!”

How long had it been since she had seen her? Had Ryuu grown taller since the last time? Izumi could’ve sworn that they were the same height…

“I’m so glad that I’ve got a few days off… I think I deserve a break with my girl, right?”

She giggled sweetly and took one of Ryuu’s hands in hers, squeezing it tenderly. The Uchiha’s hand was slightly smaller, like her hand was meant to fit there.

Shaking off this… Somewhat familiar feeling in her stomach, she glanced up at her Nara friend with a face full of excitement.

“What do you feel like doing? I’m up for anything!”

spring really had arrived. and ryuu was very happy about it. she had just gotten out of the yamanaka flower shop which was blossoming with new arrivals and freshly picked flowers. though she hadn't gone there to get a bouquet for a loved one in the hospital or a rose for mock flirting with anko.

her reason was to meet yamanaka inoichi. she was in great relations with the clan head and the clan itself. the man had himself summoned her to discuss her entry into the T&I department of konohagakure. he had been suggesting it to her for a long time and ryuu had finally agreed.

but all the work stuff flew out of her mind when she remembered who she had to meet next. she often short circuited around her. thank god she was good at playing it off cool and not being a see through glass infront of her.

it was criminal, ryuu always complained, just how pretty her best friend was. too pretty. too too pretty.

and it was downright illegal how izumi seemed like she had no clue about what she did to ryuu. and she frolicked around looking like a million ryos.

‎if ryuu's heart finally failed, contact izumi uchiha for all the financial compensation.

keeping her dramatics aside was often an impossible job but as soon as her beady brown eyes landed on the girl always plaguing her thoughts, ryuu stood straight. cleared her throat and ran towards her.

"izumi!" she practically threw herself at izumi and was only able to be stopped by izumi's incredible stability and strength. though one can also argue that the nara had put no strength whatsoever.

"missed ya best friend." she squeezed her tight, shutting her eyes closed and was immediately engulfed with the familiar scent of her childhood best friend.

then she finally backed off, smiling, grinning. "how are you?"

Izumi’s heart skipped a beat as she felt Itachi attempt to kiss her back. The way his hand caressed her burning, crimson cheek scrambled her brain almost as much as the eggs she had prepared for the two Uchiha boys that morning.

When the kiss was broken, she shyly met Itachi’s eyes, which were shimmering with the familiar glow of the Uchiha’s kekkei genkai. The Sharingan. His Sharingan.

“…Y-yeah, it was.”

Eventually, her brain caught up with her body and she glanced down at her feet, unsure of what to do next.

She did it. Finally, she was courageous enough to kiss him, the young man she had adored for so long. Unfortunately, she had been so busy day-dreaming about the said kiss, that she never really thought about what would happen afterwards.

“I… Oh! What’s the time? How about I meet Sasuke at the academy while you stay here and prepare the table for dinner later? I think I’ll make us all some okonomiyaki with extra cabbage!”

Cabbage. Itachi’s favourite food. Izumi would never tell anyone, but she would always include cabbage in the bentos and homemade dishes that she made for Itachi. She enjoyed seeing his face light up as he elegantly ate her food.

With that all said and done, Izumi hurriedly escorted herself out of the Uchiha’s household and made her way towards the Academy.

“Woah… What do I do now?”

She nervously mumbled to herself, the world around her became blurry as she lost herself in thoughts of Itachi Uchiha.

Quickly stripping herself of her usual attire, Izumi slips into the clothes that she had chosen from Itachi’s wardrobe and smoothes them out with her hands. They were a little baggy on her smaller frame, but so, so comfortable. They smelled like him, too. Itachi had such a subtle, home-y scent which always put her at ease.

“Okay, I’m all finished! How do I look, Ita?”

She strikes a dramatic pose like a model on a runway and giggles to herself, amused by her own playfulness.

When Itachi turns to face her, she catches a glimpse of the light pink hues on his cheeks. Was Itachi actually blushing? And because of her?

She takes a few steps towards him and leans in close, their faces only inches apart as she observes his face intently.

“Ita, are you blushing right now? All this time I’ve known you, I’ve hardly ever seen you like this… You look really cute.”

As if now only realising how close they had gotten, Izumi locks eyes with the slightly taller Uchiha and swallows the nervous lump in her throat, a shade of pink flushing her cheeks to match Itachi’s.

It was as if the world froze around her and nothing else mattered in this moment except for the person she loved and admired who was standing right in front of her. So close. So temptingly close.

Taking a deep, encouraging breath, she closes the gap between them, shutting her eyes in the process, and presses her soft, plump lips against Itachi’s. A perfectly short and sweet first kiss.

“Hey, bored. I’m Izumi!”

The Uchiha girl laughed at her own “Dad Joke” and waved at the red-head on the floor.

She tilted her head in confusion before speaking.

“Why are you on the floor?”

"I'm BOOOOORRRRED." She's laying on the floor.

“Umm… Kakashi? Are you awake?”

Izumi hesitantly poked the older Hatake’s cheek, unsure of whether he was sleeping or simply resting his eyes.

Is he trying to take a nap? Is he just closing his eyes? Only one way to find out.

Izumi grinned and sat cross-legged next to the female Uzumaki.

“How about we do something together? Hm? Being around Shisui and Itachi is fun, but I like to have a bit of girl time every now and then! You know what I mean?”

Karin physically cringed at the dad joke turning on her side. "If you must know. I've got nothing to do and I hate it." She clarified.

The Uchiha woman’s cheeks flushed crimson due to Itachi’s flirtatious words. Was this really happening? Itachi Uchiha? Flirting with her?

Izumi never thought that she’d see the day where Itachi would be so… Bold about something as intimate as a kiss.

“… W-well, you do always keep your promises.”

She took a shy step towards him, stood up on her tippy toes and planted a sweet, gentle kiss against Itachi’s surprisingly soft lips.

If this was a dream, Izumi never wanted to wake up.

“You could say that I need something, yeah…”

Izumi twiddled her thumbs as she attempted to figure out a way to ask the silver-haired man what she wanted.

“I’ve been catching up on my romance novels, and I was wondering if maybe… You could tell me about this one that you read? Please?”

She pointed at the book resting beside Kakashi’s body and shyly rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet.

"Hm?" Kakashi slowly opened his eyes to see the young lady. "Yes? Did you need something?"

Still clad in Itachi’s clothing, Izumi kept herself fairly busy since Sasuke and herself returned from the Academy. Prepping for dinner, tidying up around the home, and of course, doing more laundry.

She didn’t mind this, however. In fact, she was more than happy to do all of these things… It kept the racing thoughts about her kiss with Itachi at bay. For a few moments, at least.

Besides, it was of most importance that Sasuke studied in his room and Itachi rested-

Well, he was supposed to be resting.

Upon hearing his voice beckon her from behind, Izumi placed the washing basket down at her feet, spun on her heels and faced the taller young man.

“Hm?”

She listened to his words intently, keeping her eyes focused on his lips, the same lips that had been on hers mere hours ago.

Feelings for her? Had she seriously heard that correctly?

Mentally pinching herself, she cleared her throat and took a few brave steps closer to him, almost closing the gap between them, before speaking.

“… You have feelings for me?”

A giant grin plasters itself to Izumi’s face, the smile meeting her midnight-coloured eyes.

“I don’t know if you know this, but… I’ve had feelings for you for quite some time now, Itachi. Not only do I think that you’re incredibly handsome, intelligent and skillful, but you also have a huge and caring heart. That’s the thing that I admire most about you, actually…”

Taking her chance, she closed the gap between them and carefully wrapped her arms around his neck, wanting nothing more in the moment than to kiss him once again.

“If you’d allow it, I would… Really like to be with you. To be your girlfriend.”

Her pale cheeks flushed crimson at her confession, matching the shade of Itachi’s own cheeks.

“I-I need to say this now before I chicken out! I love you, Itachi. I love you so much.”

She gratefully accepts the plate of tri-coloured dango and offers one to her counterpart.

Would definitely be a baker/chef if she wasn’t a ninja

She shows her affection with physical touch and by baking sweets or other snacks

Loves being pampered/going to the spa with friends for ✨girl tiiiiiime✨

Her favourite thing about herself is her kind heart

Is not a fan of fighting much like Itachi and Shisui, but she’ll do anything necessary to protect those she loves and cares about

Her looks are super important to her (especially her hair)

Since her Father passed during the Nine Tails attack, it’s just been her and her Mother, who is quite strict with her

She wishes to make her Mother proud, but she also wants to live her life the way she desires, even if that means going against her Mother’s own wishes

LOVES animals, especially cats.
