SOLARIS January 22nd, 2024 Charleston, SC
"Damn it, gguk." a deep voice filters inside my ears as awareness creeps upon me. "What the hell did you do?"
I felt a softness underneath my head and I unconsciously nuzzled my head into it. My body felt like it was laid on a soft surface. What was happening?
"I scared the girl, okay?" a deep voice snarled back, "What else was I supposed to do when I found this little girl in my private room?"
"I don't know," a voice shot back sarcastically, "Maybe be calm and nicely ask her what she's doing in here. I mean, come now, gguk, she's a tiny thing â what harm could she cause?"
"You can never be too careful." the deeper, scarier voice spat back. "Don't question me, Theo."
Theo.
My lips parted as the memories of tonight came flooding back.
Father calling. Ataraxia. Theo...and...and the Chairman finding me.
Bile rose in my throat and I nearly felt like passing out again. Embarrassment flooded through my veins.
Oh goddess; what would Father think of me embarrassing not only me...but also damaging his image in front of Chairman Jeon? He is also known as his boss.
Oh God, please save my soul.
"Anyways, what were you doing in here? I thought you were in the other room with Mr. Caponeiv and his team?"
Chairman Jeon released a rough sigh, seemingly closer than expected to me. My fingers curled into my palms to ground myself.
How would I get out of here without being noticed?
I held perfectly still, holding my breath â listening closely to the Chairman's reply.
"Brittany came by."
"Called her didn't you?" Theo's accented voice rose an outcave in amusement.
A snort came out of the Chairman. "I'm going to be here longer than I'd like to. She offered. How could I refuse?"
Okay. It was time to 'wake up' now. Right?
Suddenly, a painful throbbing erupted at the back of my head, where I had hit it when I had taken a tumble off the soft couch. A loud whine of pain left my lips, and my tiny hand came out to grasp it.
"Oww!"
I kept my eyes clenched shut to not only hide behind my eyelids but to also keep the throbbing at bay. Shuffling was heard and the sound of the door closing was heard and I relaxed.
"Hello, little tesoro." I heard Theo say and then a big hand placed itself on my forehead. My body unwound from its tight posture in happiness.
If he was here then the Chairman must have left! Sweet Jesus, thank you! I'm not going to die today!
"Is your head paining badly? I can get you medicine," he asked kindly, helping me into a sitting position.
"N-no thank you, m-mister T-Theo." I stammered out in a rush, "d-did you find my Father?" I asked quietly, shoulders hunching.
My eyes were still closed as I cradled the back of my head.
"I did, little Tesoro. I gave him the money from your bag. He thinks you already went back home."
"Thank you. Is...is the s-scary man gone?" I whispered for clarification. Fear had the blood pumping through my veins rush at a faster rate.
I just wanted to go home and hold Mr. Carrots.
Theo let out a loud laugh, and I imagined his big shoulders shaking in the rhythm of his laughter. His hazel eyes sparkled in mirth as he beheld my trembling frame in front of his.
"I'm sure he'll be back soon, he had to step away from a moment."
Did he have to step away so his anger wouldn't get the best of him and he killed me? An audible gulp left me at the thought.
"Come, little tesoro, let's get you up on our feet." he smiled softly, grasping my hands in his and carefully helped me stand on my feet. The world spun for a split second, and I ground my stumbling feet to the floor.
"Thank y-you, Theo." I sent him a wobbly smile, finding my crocheted bag on the couch and slipping it across my body. My knees stung as they bent.
"C-can I go h-home now?" I asked, unable to look into his eyes without craning my neck back. At this gesture, a flash of the Chairman came to mind.
Goosebumps popped out upon my skin. He was even scarier and bigger than Theo was.
I'd do well to leave this place before he came back.
A look of hesitance crossed Theo's dark complexion; "You must wait a moment, tesoro. The Chairman may want to speak with you."
Paling, I stammered out a sentence.
"...w-why does h-he want to s-speak with me?" faintness passed through my body again.
The sound of the door opening had my feet stumbling forward to hide behind Theo's bulky body. The man I was hiding behind chuckled after the door closed and made his entrance known.
"Where is she?" he said.
My little fingers grasped the back of Theo's shirt in fear, huddling closer to the man.
"All is well, little tesoro. No need to hide." Theo spoke deeply, "He will not harm you."
"How are y-you so s-sure, M-mister Theo?" my voice came out small and meek in the Chairman's presence. I couldn't see him, but I feel him.
He could be in a crowded room and everyone would stop. Because that was the effect he had on people.
I heard an unfamiliar sigh and stiffened. I clenched the fabric of Theo's shirt tighter.
"Theo, Arilie needs you at the bar. Go help her." Chairman Jeon commanded, his orotund voice leaving no room to argue. In front of me, Theo said nothing, but I watched the back of his head move in a nod.
My pulse raced when Theo moved away, thus putting me right in front of the Chairman. Through my terror; I took the time to inspect the huge man in front of me.
As 'legend' goes; he was as intimidating as those women told me he was.
He towered over Theo by at least three inches. I would have had to put him at six foot four. His black suit and tie clung to every curve and crevice of his toned body to with every move of his arms â his biceps rippled underneath his jacket.
A tiny little gasp left my lips as my neck craned back to zero in on his face.
In short; his face was just perfectly breathtaking. Stunning, gorgeous, handsome, too perfect to put in simple words also fit.
It was his eyes that drew me in.
Chairman Jeon's deep brown irises were strikingly beautiful, his eye shape was something between rounded and almond-shaped and they even sparkled. His pretty eyes captivated me at first glance. It was as if he had a special power that drew people into wanting to know about the hidden shadows within his eyes.
His skin was a beautiful shade of tan with honey undertones.
My eyes squinted just a bit to catch a scar on his cheek and the freckle beneath his chubby double pierced bottom lip.
The Chairman's sharp jawline rocked back and forth as he turned his head, pretty eyes watching Theo retreating back.
I also looked at his pretty black hair, brushing against the back of his neck. It looked fluffy and inviting â my fingers twitched to get rid of the urge to play with his hair.
The door closed with a resounding thud and I was left alone to face the man that stood merely feet away from me. My teeth came down and captured my bottom lip between my teeth and bit down â a sting of pain rolling down my neck at the sensation.
I didn't know what to do with myself.
My white shoes scuffed along with marble floor, head hanging low while watching them kick at nothing. Unknowingly, I had drawn his attention to my silent figure.
"Come here." he acknowledged me, pretty sparkly eyes finding mine. I screached his eyes for any emotion, yet I couldn't detect one.
I quivered in my shoes and aquiesced to his demand without a word leaving me. It wouldn't do me any good to fight against him â I knew I would lose. I shrunk underneath his notice and slowly moved to stand in front of him.
It was then I realized, with a flush, that if I were to stand by his side â I'd only reach his bicep. How embarrassing.
Chairman Jeon watched with scrutiny, "Your name is Solaris?" he asked, gigantic body relaxing just a bit. He shoved his tattooed hands in his pockets, hiding his tattoos from view.
I nodded meekly, staring up at him with fear and admiration. Wow! He was terrifying, as expected, but I couldn't believe I was standing in front of him! He was basically a legend! World Famous and he said my name! It felt prettier and most important coming from his lips.Â
He rose a brow, entirely unamused once I fought to swallow past the lump in my throat. "Are you going to speak?" he asked carefully, eyes glimmer just a bit more than before.
I flushed and tore my eyes away from his. "U-um...y-yes, sir." I simpered weakly, unable to look at the Chairman. I could only force myself to look at his shiny black shoes.
He was too appealing to look at. Way too perfect for someone like me to be allowed to stare at him.
"...m-my name is Solaris Celeste Vesper." I continued, pride flaring up within my soul as I spoke my full name aloud. My name was the prettiest thing about me, I believed.
Chairman Jeon made a small noise in the back of his throat.
It was soft and somehow relaxed my tense body.
"And how old are you, Solaris?"
It was official. No one had ever said my name the way he did. It made me love it even more.
I gnawed on my bottom lip, "...I'm n-ninteen, sir." I stammered respectfully, bowing my head in a show of upmost politeness. If I wasn't on my best behavior...well, it was just be my last day on this earth.
"Hmmm." Chairman Jeon clicked his tongue. Too frightened to take a peek at his face, I admired his shoes and how the color of his suit complimented his skin.
"Take a seat and I'll get your knees patched up, yes?"
My tummy fluttered as I wordlessly nodded and took a seat on the sofa and wiggled my bottom to get further up on the seat, feet swaying back and forth as they hung inches above the ground. I hesitantly looked up and was fixated as the Chairman walked behind me, pulled up slightly on the fabric of his pants and knelt down infront of my sitting figure.
I watched him open a small box with a bright red cross on the front and adverted my eyes when he glanced up.
"This may sting a bit," he said, lips pressed in a thin line as he tore open a small square packet and withdrew a white wipe.
"O-okay." I grimced in discomfort as he pressed the little wipe on my skinned knee, thoroughly cleaning my knees.
I rubbed my lips together and allowed myself to stare at the top of his head once his face was pointed downwards, focused.
He didn't seem so scary now. He was cleaning my wounds and being gentle, too. If he was helping me...well, he couldn't be too mean, right?
I was drawn to look at his hands once more.
His right hand had a plethora of pretty tattoos and I traced over every once of them with my eyes. My mouth formed a little O as I took in his pretty rings, they looked really expensive. But my favorite one would have to be the simpler golden ring, the one on his pinkie finger â it was classy and elegant all the same â with a engraved J on the flat surface of the ring.
A signet ring â telling all who looked at it exactly who he was and where he had come from.
Out of all of them; it was the prettiest in my opinion. Most of the time, the simpler things were the best.
My mouth opened and words came tumbling out before I could stop them.
"...y-you are scary...but not as s-scary as some p-people say, Mister." I uttered with a tiny flush as the q-tip swiping ointment along my knees stilled.
I paled, fearing that I had upset him, when he finally chuckled.
"Is that so?" he articulates, his perfectly chiseled face raising up to look at my pale face. I slumped back against the seat in relief when a small quirk lifted the side of his lips. Thank goodness he wasn't angry.
Chairman Jeon efficiently finished up cleaning my knees and placed pretty pink hello kitty bandaids on my knees that I giggled at.
I was beginning to relax around the man, enough to where I wasn't stammering my words in front of the man.
"Thank you, Mister!" I beamed up at him, wiggling my legs as I sat on the seat. My knees felt so much better after he doctored them and butterflies swarmed lowly in my tummy at his kind gesture.
"When is Mister Theo coming back?" I wondered, lips pouting out.
Chairman Jeon loosened his tie and blinked down at me, a light kindleding withing his eyes. "I have to go home soon, Mister. May I leave?" I admired his strong body as he took a seat across from me, and resting his ankle across his knee.
"Wait just a moment," he said, looking at my arms quickly, his glare sticking onto my upper arms. My eyes followed his and landed on the bruised skin. I covered my arms in shame and couldn't look at him in the eyes for a couple minutes.
His sharp jawline tightened when my hands covered what I could to shield the bruises from his sight. He pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek, creating a bulb shape, and stared right into my eyes.
"I'll have Theo drop you off at home," he offered kindly, smiling gently at me â acting completely different to the man that I had met when he came into this room. My lips parted.
"...okay, Mister."
The Chairman nodded, face held in a blank expression, but eyes still kind. "Good." he remarked, taking his phone from his pocket. I watched him type something on his phone underneath my lashes, until he pocketed the sleek phone once more.
"Theo's waiting at the entrance." he passed on, running his fingers along his sharp jawline, his smokey sounding voice making me shudder.
"Thank you, Mister." I beamed and wiggled my bottom off the couch. I scurried across the room and opened the door.
I stopped myself before I closed the door. Remembering my manners, I poked my head back inside the door, and saw Chairman Jeon lick along his bottom lip, observing me in amusement.
"Bye, Mister! I hope you have a good night! And thank you!" I cheered, about to close the door â when I gasped once more. I poked my head back inside the room, "Oh â and I hope you sleep well! Goodnight!" I waved happily, feeling more at ease in the presence of Chairman Jeon.
The last thing I heard before closing the door, was his throaty chuckle.

Solaris is so cute đđđ„č I love her so much â€ïžâš As always, thank you so much for reading and enjoy!

What further consummations, mockeries, torments did I still anticipate? I had no idea, as I abided in the unshaken belief that the time of cruel wonders was not yet over.

So these were monumental, centuries-long death throes â that was how Solaris was perceived. Its extensors and mimoids were seen as tumorous growths; the processes that moved its huge fluid body were examined for indications of chaos and anarchy, to the point that this orientation became an obsession, and the entire scientific literature of the following seven or eight years, though of course free of expressions explicitly indicating the feelings of its authors, nevertheless was like one long barrage of insults â revenge taken by the gray leaderless masses of solaricists upon the unchangingly indifferent object of their intensified research, which continued to pay no attention to them whatsoever.

âThe truth?â she said. âCross your heart?â I didnât answer right away. I had to overcome a constriction in my throat. That was our old phrase. When it was uttered, neither of us dared lie, nor even remain silent on whatever it was about. There was a time we tormented one another with excessive honesty in the naive belief it would save us.

âWhat is it?â I asked softly. âI got divorced,â he answered just as quietly, though his whisper had a sibilance about it. At one time I might have laughed at a story like that and such a conversation opener, but on the Station my sense of humor had been amputated.

Berton: For me itâs fundamental. Iâve said that I saw something Iâll never ever forget. If the commission determines that what I said is even one percent plausible, such that certain research on the ocean needs to be begun, then Iâll tell everything. But if the commission is going to see it all as figments of my imagination, I wonât say another word. Â Â Q: Why not? Â Â Berton: Because the content of my hallucinations, however ghastly they might be, is my private matter. Whereas the content of my experiences on Solaris is not.

âGreetings, Dr. Kelvin,â came Sartoriusâs high-pitched, nasal voice. Its owner sounded like he was walking onto a dangerously sagging platform â suspicious, cautious, while on the outside collected. âMy respects, Dr. Sartorius,â I replied. I felt like laughing, but I wasnât sure I was clear enough about the reasons for my mirth to be able to give it free rein. When it came down to it, who was I supposed to be laughing at? I was holding something in my hand: the test tube with the blood. I shook it. It had already congealed. Maybe what Iâd just seen was merely an illusion? Maybe it had merely seemed that way?

Towards the end of the second day we found ourselves so close to the pole that when the disk of the blue sun had almost completely disappeared beyond the horizon, the crimson tinge of the clouds in the opposite direction heralded the rising of the red sun. The vast blackness of the ocean and the empty sky above it were then filled with a blindingly fierce clash between hard colors aglow like metal, glistening with poisonous green and subdued hollow flames of crimson, while the ocean itself was rent with the glare of two counterposed disks, two furious fires, one mercuric and one scarlet; at such moments it was enough for the tiniest cloud to be at the zenith for the rays falling across the diagonals of waves with their lumbering foam to be lit up with an incredible rainbow glitter. Immediately following the setting of the blue sun, on the north-west skyline, first heralded by the indicators, there appeared a symmetriad; it was fused almost indistinguishably with the red-stained mist and arose out of it only with isolated glinting reflections, like an immense glass flower growing from the meeting point of sky and plasma. The Station, however, maintained its course, and fifteen minutes or so later the colossus, red and trembling like a guttering lamp made of rubies, vanished again beyond the horizon. A few minutes later a tall thin pillar, whose base was hidden from our view by the curvature of the planet, shot up soundlessly several miles into the atmosphere. This clear indication of the end of the symmetriad weâd seen, one side fiery red, the other bright as a column of quicksilver, branched into a two-colored tree, then the extremities of its ever more spreading limbs merged into a single mushroom-shaped cloud whose upper portion set off in the fire of two suns on a distant journey driven by the wind, while the lower part fell extraordinarily slowly in ponderous clusterlike fragments spread across a good third of the horizon. An hour later the last trace of this spectacle had vanished.

Weâre humanitarian and noble, weâve no intention of subjugating other races, we only want to impart our values to them and in return, to appropriate their heritage. We see ourselves as Knights of the Holy Contact. Thatâs another falsity. Weâre not searching for anything except people. We donât need other worlds. We need mirrors. We donât know what to do with other worlds. One world is enough, even there we feel stifled. We desire to find our own idealized image; theyâre supposed to be globes, civilizations more perfect than ours; in other worlds we expect to find the image of our own primitive past. Yet on the other side thereâs something we refuse to accept, that we fend off; though after all, from Earth we didnât bring merely a distillation of virtues, the heroic figure of Humankind! We came here as we truly are, and when the other side shows us that truth-the part of it we pass over in silence-weâre unable to come to terms with it!
Solaris by Stanislaw Lem (via wholesomeobsessive)
Outside the window the crests of the waves glistened, rising and falling so slowly it seemed as if the ocean was congealing. Looking down there I had the impression the Station was moving imperceptibly sideways, as if it were slipping off an invisible base. Then it returned to equilibrium and tipped lazily in the other direction. But it was probably an illusion. Stretches of slimy foam the color of bone were gathering in the troughs between the waves. For a split second I felt a twinge of nausea in the pit of my stomach. The cold orderliness of the Prometheus now seemed to me something precious and irrevocably lost.

The Art Of Hunting || Neteyam & Loâak x fem!Omaticaya reader
Summary: You are interrupted by Neteyam's younger brother during your hunting lesson.
Warnings: none, just pure fluff (and Lo'ak interfering with a hunt lessonđ)
Word count:Â 1900
Author: Rouge
A/N: prior to reading, itâs important to know that: this is my very first attempt at writing for Avatar †the reader is female Omaticaya †a few things are in Na'vi language (I hope they were translated correctly) †some Pandoran creatures are mentioned in the fic †you'll find a glossary underneath the fic

There was no doubt that Pandoran forests were one of the most beautiful, breathtaking sights on the planet. Those forests, filled with greenery and sometimes interspersed with rivers and lakes, have been home to many creatures, both small and large. Within the darkness entwined with light, harmony, so coveted, seemed alive, bonding everything together.
It was a beautiful sight to see the river in its generous curves, glinting blue amid the leafy green. As she drummed and rustled, the clear water echoed through the canopy of trees. As a result, the river invited all souls to dance, rumbling quietly and flowing with her current. A soil rich in brown hues, along with fleshy, lush green leaves, combined to create a three-dimensional wonderland that captured the attention of onlookers willing to slow down and absorb soft rays of sunlight falling through ancient branches and flowing down to the forest floor.
Upon hearing Neteyam whisper âbreatheâ in a calm tone, your ears perked up.
As slowly as possible, you turned your face towards him, watching how focused the oldest Sully brother was - his eyes opened wide and his nose twitched as he sniffed the wet scent of the forest floor. âNeteyamâŠâ Attempting to whisper, you were quickly hushed by his hand being raised up in the air and his brief glance that told you to keep silent. Hunting had been one of your most difficult struggles - you weren't much of a hunter and many Na'vi told you not to worry about getting better at it, and instead concentrate on herbology. When the last sun rays kissed the forest and heathland, and when the greens and purples morphed into gray under the eclipse, yeriks went out to forage.
As Neteyam instructed, he kept his tone low, barely moving his lips as he spoke, "Remember, Y/N, bow and arrow are mere tools. You must shoot with the heart." With the last rays of setting sun, his yellowish eyes glistened with focus.
As you nodded, remembering the last time Neteyam took you hunting - because of your careless behavior, the whole yerik flock got spooked and ran before you could strike any targets.
Neteyam stood behind you and made sure you stretched the bowstring sufficiently; soon, his left hand was placed underneath your chest, on your upper tummy; your ears perked as you instinctively drew in some air - when Neteyam was close, especially that dangerously close to you as he was then, you had trouble concentrating.
Neteyam was adept at reading unobvious signs - a little grin glinted across his lips as he kept his composure, not giving you any indication he was aware of the slight change in your behavior.
While supporting your right elbow with his other hand, the oldest Sully brother whispered, "Focus now, Y/N."
Because he had five fingers instead of four, it always made you giggle when he was actually touching you - no exceptions were made this time.
The laughter of yours only lasted for a half-second, but it caused yeriks to stop grazing and look carefully around, turning into attentive mode.
In spite of this, Neteyam did not resign from hunting wild prey. As he moved his head so close to you, only an inch or two separated his lips from your cheek, he whispered directly into your ear, "Y/N, what did I just say?"
Trying desperately to calm your heartbeat, you prayed that he wouldn't feel the heat radiating from your body. âThat I need to focus.â
"Focus then," he instructed you, his voice soft as a northern breeze, his tone nothing more than a whisper.
Another brief nod was given by you in response. Using all your strength, you stretched the bowstring as far as you could and aimed for the individual grazing grass on the sidelines. Your focus was the channeling of your spirit, of your true self within, so as you focused you could learn a few things about yourself - for instance, that you could hold your breath long enough to stretch the bowstring to the point where it started to cut into the flesh of your fingers.
âFire,â Neteyam whispered into your ear.
Your shot was interrupted by another figure approaching, making such a fuss that the entire yerik flock fled.
As Lo'ak crouched against his older brother, inspecting a clump of grass carefully, he tilted his head and looked up at Neteyam, saying, "Mother was looking for you, bro. I won't lie, she was pissed you were out after the eclipse."
Neteyam's response was straightforward, as always - he hit his younger brother's head from behind, lightly enough to not hurt him. "So you've found us, brother. What's wrong with you, though? Didn't you notice we were hunting?"
Lo'ak's shoulder shifted a bit as he spoke, "I observed you for a while, and all I saw was you flirting heavily with our Y/N."
Your cheeks began to flush as you gasped a quiet 'stopâ - turning your head aside to conceal the redness you breathed out deeply.
A snarl of anger was heard from Neteyam as he displayed his teeth at Lo'ak. "Quit it, brother. Let's head home, the last thing I need is for the father to get angry as well."
The younger brother chuckled and poked your ribs with his index finger a little. "How was the hunting? No kills this time as well, huh? Quit trying, Y/N, you're not a hunter. You won't become one because you hang out so much with Neteyam.â
Your ears perked a few times quickly as you hissed at him. "Lo'ak!"
âWhat?!â Lo'ak leapt nimbly off a rock ledge you and Neteyam were using for vantage point. âCome on, letâs move up!â
You watched the two brothers slowly walk off, smiling gently to yourself - their relationship was so emotional, but despite the fact that they fought easily, it was so beautiful to watch them interact with one another - there was no doubt that they shared a strong fraternal bond. A wooden bow was slung over your shoulder, and you picked up a quiver filled with arrows that you adorned with some leaves and features before joining Sully brothers.
In the dark of night, Lo'ak walked first, leading the way back home. He was always the first one everywhere, always so curious, never satisfied with the status quo, always seeking for something new to discover.
The long steps you took aligned you with Neteyam, who reluctantly followed his brother, holding his bow firmly in hand. As you stared at him, you engaged him in a small conversation, "You seem angry, Net."
As the three of you crossed the large field, a group of resting kentens rose into the sky. This made Neteyam and you stop to marvel at the luminous magenta and purple discs that floated to safety on the branches of an old, nearby tree.
Taking a glance over his shoulder, Neteyam checked to make sure his younger brother was far enough. Putting on his ionar once he was certain, he turned to you. "It's not that," he replied quickly, trying to dismiss the topic.
With your quiver slung over the same shoulder as your bow, you crossed your hands over your chest, giving him a significant glance, the tip of your nose twitching a tad.
âWhat?â His tail wiggled rapidly.
You touched his chest with your slender fingertips and whispered, "Neteyam, I know you long enough to be sure you harbor anger within you."
Taking a deep breath, Neteyam placed his hand on top of yours that rested on his chest, then placed his other hand on your cheek to caress the smooth surface of your skin. âThere was just one thing I hoped for. A few alone moments with you, Y/N."
As you snuggled your cheek into his warm, welcoming palm, you curled your lips into a sweet smile; your eyes never left his. "The plenty of occasion will come, oeyÀ yawntu," you said, wiggling your tail slowly.
The gaze of Neteyam was intense as he stared down at you. Your smile was the sun, it was the silencing of all the noises, it was both the cage and the ever-wide open door, leading to unknown places. It wasn't long before Neteyam got lost in the depth of your eyes and the warmth of your little grin. âIs your word a promise, yawntutsyĂŹp?â
A slight tilt of your head indicated a nod. âYes.â
A strong embrace encased your slim figure as Neteyam pulled you closer. After removing his ionar, he lowered his head slowly, resting his forehead gently against yours; his tail danced a bit with yours, wrapping itself around yours from time to time. "I love you, Y/N," he whispered softly.
When you slipped your palm across his chest and rested it against his heart, you replied, "Nga yawne lu oer."
After returning to check on you two, Lo'ak called out, "Guys! Are you two going to stand in the middle of the forest, like idiots, snuggling now? Seriously?â
A low growl escaped Neteyam's lips as he put his ionar back on. âThis is none of your business. Get your ass back on the ikran."
"I'm not the one whose shenanigans cause us problems, bro," Lo'ak laughed, but followed his older brother's order.
As Neteyam's ikran spotted him approaching, it roared and wiggled its wings several times, lowering its head to greet his Na'vi.
Ikran's elongated snout was stroked by Neteyam as he jumped on its back, helping you up as well. Neteyam connected his queue to the ikran, and the beast was ready to fly. "Y/N, are you alright?" Neteyam asked softly as he wrapped his arms around your tummy to keep you from falling.
"Yes," you replied shortly. "Let's head home."
Neteyam ordered ikran to take off with a nod.
Before soaring, ikran roared once more, spreading its large wings.
It was fascinating to watch Lo'ak glide smoothly with his ikran in the air. The voice of Neteyam jolted you out of your thinking. âYou know what?â
âHmmm?â You mumbled, holding tightly onto his ikranâs neck.
"The thought of being back home excites me so much."
âWhy is that? I thought you sought every opportunity to leave home to taste the adventure and beauty of the world," you questioned as you turned a little to look at him.
âThatâs true, indeed. However, the mere thought of snuggling with you to sleep melts my heart," Neteyam replied as he moved his head slightly to kiss your lips. âDon't forget, this is just between us. It is likely Lo'ak would not leave me alone if he knows.âYou knew he was right - Lo'ak was the first one to pick on his older brother, and if he only knew Neteyam had a soft side, he wouldn't give up so easily. âDonât worry, I know.â Your palm rested on his cheek as you kissed his lips once more, a little longer this time. "OeyĂ€ Neteyam, you mean the world to me."
Love was a protector, a defender, a ride-or-die connection that was there for you always and in every way. It had raw power and could roar, but also, you would find comfort in its quietness, if needed. In the end, the real love you were sharing with Neteyam was the greatest blessing Eywa could grant you, and so you chose to cherish it.

thinking about neteyam, and how he kept getting things stolen from him all his life.
about how the inherited mischief that came with being the son of jake sully was ripped away from him when his grandmother smiled and declared you will be a great chief one day;
im thinking about how he was robbed of the future he grew up trying so hard to be worthy ofâabout the fifteen years of his past he had to leave behind as they walked away from their clan;
im thinking about his trinkets, necklaces and visors and arm guards, some lovingly given, some secretly collected, some clumsily made, gathering time in a box he will never open again;
iâm thinking about eldest children, and how they learn early on to scavenge for pieces of themselves that arenât tainted by the curse of having to grow up faster;
and im thinking about how young neteyam must have been to know when to perform as a good son, a strong warrior, a worthy chief-to-be, and how he must have felt so lost when nobody answered his question of when he could stop;
how he must have always secretly wished he could get away from the chains that bound him to his duties, from all of it;

Being the eldest daughter of the Oloâeyktan and TsahĂŹk definitely was not easy. y/n constantly received lectures from her parents (more so her mother) because of her free-spirited behavior. She loved her parents, donât get her wrong, itâs just sometimes they were so strict. Not to mention, she always got the blame for what her siblings (mostly Aoânung, not so much Tsireya) did. Being she was the eldest, she was expected to always look after them.
One of the only people who understood her struggles was her best friend Neteyam. Neteyam and his family had to flee their home and move here because of the sky people. Even though many people from the clan didnât accept him at first, y/n did. When she first saw him, she thought he was one of the most breathtaking boys she had ever saw.
y/n was the one who taught him all he knows now. He had caught on quickly because y/n was such an amazing teacher. She had to be, really, considering she taught the little children of the clan multiple times a week.
Speaking of which, that was what y/n was doing at the moment. She was standing in the shallow water with the children of her people.
âLittle one, come back here!â y/n called after the little girl. The girl only giggled in response as y/n chased her. âGot you!â y/n smiled as she picked her up and walked her back to the group. The little girl clung onto y/n as she tried to put her down.
y/n sighed and held onto her bottom with one arm as she told the other kids that is was their breaktime. The little girl wrapped her arms around y/n and laid her head on her shoulder. y/n faintly smiled and shook her head.
Standing by a nearby tree, Neteyam watched the scene in front of him. He couldnât help but find his best friend (and crush) ethereal whenever she taught and looked after the children. He couldnât help but fall harder for her everytime he watched such a sight.
Suddenly feeling someone stare at her, y/n turned around and saw Neteyam. Immediately her face lit up and her smile brightened. Neteyamâs heart swelled. Oh, how he loved her smile. To him, it was the most beautiful sight in the world.
âIs there something on my face?â y/n looked curiously at Neteyam.
He laughed and shook his head, âNo. Thereâs nothing there.â
âThen why are you staring at me?â If it was even possible, her smile widened.
âYou just look beautiful is all,â Neteyam smiled.
y/nâs ears and cheeks turned purple, âDonât do that.â
âWhat do you mean? I didnât do anything,â Neteyam laughed again.
âOh, you liar. You know what you did,â y/n lightly pushed him with her free hand. Neteyam feigned an offended face and put his hands up. âBut seriously, how come youâre here?â
âI just wanted to see my favorite girl. Plus I was bored so I figured Iâd come and bother you,â Neteyam shrugged and smiled.
y/n rolled her eyes, âOkay, well, I have a class to teach so either you sit there and be quiet or go away and bother someone else.â
âOkay, okay! Iâll be quiet!â Neteyam sat down with the rest of the kids.
y/n rolled her eyes at him and tapped on the back of the girl in her arms, âLittle one, you have to get down now. Iâm afraid our break is over and I have to get back to teaching you and the other children.â
âAw, câmon! I was just getting comfy!â The little girl whined as she tried to wiggle out of her arms. y/n placed her down.
âI know, Iâm sorry,â y/n laughed silently to herself as she watched the little girl sit down next to Neteyam.
y/n looked at the other kids playing in the water and called out, âChildren! Break time is over!â She watched as the kids stopped playing and ran over to sit down with Neteyam and the little girl.
âOkay, now, letâs resume what we were talking about earlier. Can anyone tell me what we were discussing?â y/n smiled at the kids as a little boy raised his hand. âYes?â
âWe were talking about slowing our heartbeat and breathing!â
âCorrect! Now that I already explained to you all what it is, I will show you how to do it and then we will practice. Neteyam,â she looked at the eldest boy, âwill you be my demonstration please?â
Neteyam smiled and walked over next to her, âof course.â
She looked back at the children, âNow, when you are trying to slow your heartbeat, remember you have to breathe from down here,â y/n placed her hand on Neteyamâs stomach. âIf you breathe from your lungs, it simply will not work.â
Neteyam felt his heart race at the physical contact between them. No matter how many deep breaths he took, he couldnât slow down his heart.
âMa Nete, you heart is racing. Is everything okay?â She looked at him.
âYeah, yeah! Everythingâs fine!â He gave a nervous smile.
âWhatever you say,â she sighed and turned back to the kids. âWho wants to go first?â
