SUMMARY: Y/N always felt frustrated for being the only person in her group of friends who hadn't yet found her soulmate and as a result, still saw the world in black and white. At twenty-five, she should have already found it, but apparently she was looking in the wrong places.
An incident on the streets of London made her world turn upside down, or rather, take on new colors.
She loved her friends, God knew how much she loved them, but she hated that moment of the conversation. All eyes were on her and there was so much expectation in the air that it left her feeling suffocated. Y/N had no problem being the center of attention, her profession taught her that, but damn, she hated being the center of her friends' attention.
"How was the date? Can you see the colors yet?!" One of her closest friends asked, Kimberly placed her face in both hands and looked at Y/N anxiously.
Y/N let out an exhausted sigh, she hated that conversation, she hated her love life, she hated being the only one in her group of friends who was still single and seeing the world in black and white.
No one knew how, but humanity was born with a condition where they saw the world in black and white from birth, and could only see the world in color after meeting their soulmate. And Y/N still didn't know her soulmate, a fact that was always β and very inconveniently β remembered at brunches on Fridays.
"No, actually it was horrible, he only talked about himself and he still has a strange relationship with his mother. I was like? You're almost thirty-five and you still live with mom?" She spoke, the irritation clear in her tone. "I asked if his mom still made his cereal, and he said yes!"
"Urgh, that's horrible girl, I'm glad he wasn't chosen, can you imagine having to share him with your mother-in-law? Uh, that would be terrible." Kim said, making a disgusted face, the other girls agreed. "And how are you with this, my dear?"
Y/N took a deeper breath, in recent years she had been a little obsessed with the idea of finding her soulmate, especially after witnessing her friends find their ideal matches and her remaining single.
"I'm entering the acceptance phase, maybe this soulmate thing isn't for me? I'm going to focus on my career from now on, I'll be changing positions in a few days, so I'm going to leave this soulmate thing on the back burner" Y/N replied, playing with her wine in her glass. Seeing the world in black and white wasn't so bad anymore.
"And you intend to spend the rest of your life alone?" Jessie questioned in a sad tone, as much as you hated this type of conversation, you appreciated your friends' concern. "We will be with you always, but baby you can't be alone."
"Jes, I promise I'm okay with this, maybe it'll show up when I'm not expecting it, I'll just let things flow however they want. Don't worry about me, really" she gave a reassuring smile. "Tell us how your couple's vacation was"
Y/N's tactic of changing the subject worked and Jessie seemed to glow while talking about her fiancΓ©. She was really happy for her friends, most of them had been through bad relationships, filled with toxicity, abusive behavior and everything bad. It was good to see friends happy in healthy, loving relationships.
By the time brunch was over, it was long past 5pm and she still had almost five boxes to organize. Y/N's love life was horrible, but the rest seemed to be going perfectly, she had just been promoted at work, with managed to buy a new, larger apartment in a good residential area of London. If it weren't for the absence of her soulmate, Y/N's life would be perfect.
Y/N didn't care if she didn't have a soulmate, her life was perfect, everything was fine.
The week wasn't turning out as Lewis expected, the training had not been good, the car was not performing as he wanted and to improve, there was a hydraulic leak in his house, forcing him to move to a nearby hotel. Lewis was stressed about the move and Roscoe was still sick. Everything that week culminated in chaos.
He strapped the belt into Roscoe's carrier in the back seat, worried about the dog, who was sniffling tiredly.
"We're already going to the vet, buddy. You're going to get better, I promise" he said, stroking the lower part of his jaw before closed the car and got into the driver's seat, exchanging messages with the veterinarian, explaining Roscoe's symptoms. The path to the veterinary clinic was relatively close to the hotel, but Lewis didn't trust walking with Roscoe sick, and the possibility of being approached by fans on the street would end up slowing him down.
It wasn't a habit and Lewis was a conscious urban driver, he was cautious in traffic, but that was an atypical day, he was worried about Roscoe and paying little attention to traffic, the to the point of crossing a closed sign and hitting a car at the intersection. Lewis cursed before getting out of the car and saw that it was his fault for the crash, he checked the condition of the car's bumper, nothing had been done to his car, but there was a medium crack in the bumper of the other car.
"Are you crazy?! You don't know how to drive?! It was closed to you!" Lewis sighed and looked at the girl.
A strange itch made his skin crawl and a strange pain appeared in his head. Little by little, the gray faded from his vision, It was strange to see things coloring in front of your eyes, and as the colors appeared, a small headache spread. Lewis didn't even listen to the angry girl in front of him. She was angry about the damage to her car and apparently hadn't laid eyes on it yet.
Y/N rested her hands on the pictures looking at the damage to her car, that was all she needed to crown the week as bad. She took a deep breath and faced the person who caused the accident. Her eyes burned as the black and white was replaced by strange colors, and the headache that people always cited also grew at the base of her skull.
Of course she would meet her soulmate in a situation as strange as that!
a/n: I was ready to write something about soulmates weeks ago, or about hananaki, but this theme won over me, and this one came to celebrate Lewis' victory in the home race. I hope to be able to post the oneshot that is in drafts today, cheer for me girls!

SUMMARY: Y/N always felt frustrated for being the only person in her group of friends who hadn't yet found her soulmate and as a result, still saw the world in black and white. At twenty-five, she should have already found it, but apparently she was looking in the wrong places.
An incident on the streets of London made her world turn upside down, or rather, take on new colors.
intro
The first thing Lewis thought was that he would have to inform his entire team about this, there would be new training sessions, he would have to study the FIA rules for drivers who could see colors. As if his life wasn't already tumultuous enough.
"Uh, you're Lewis Hamilton..." The woman murmured, taking in the whole thing. "I collided with Lewis Fucking Hamilton"
"Well, yes, that's what happened..." He said and his mind clicked, Roscoe was still in the car, sick and in need of care. "Can you take my phone number? I have to take Roscoe to the vet, but we'll need to discuss the crash and the soulmate thing..."
"Mhm yes, of course" she captured the cell phone in the back pocket of her jeans shorts and and waited for his action, Lewis brought his device closer to hers and shared his contact.
"Call me, please. I will pay for the damage." He said, returning to the driver's seat.
"Yes, yes I'll call... But I think that's the least of our problems."
"Really... But don't forget to call me, I insist." He said, waving as he entered. Y/N sighed and got into her car quickly, as a traffic cop was already approaching and she didn't need a ticket to end that week.
The journey to the new apartment was made in a few minutes, but her mind was still in a trance. She had crashed a car with Lewis Hamilton and discovered he was her fucking soulmate. She was the soulmate of the seven-time Formula One champion, a top star in the sport. How ironic could fate be? Less than four days ago, she went on a terrible date with a terrible guy, hoping to finally find her perfect match β thank the universe it wasn't him! β and today she almost accidentally collided with her predestined one.
She felt like she was in a romance movie script, or a fanfic, at the very least.
She didn't even know what to expect when her friends found out... And what would her family say?
"You're getting ahead of yourself, girl. You met today, take it easy" she murmured to herself, pressing her fingers on the steering wheel, already stopped in front of her new condominium. "Things will happen as they have to, relax!β
She tried to ignore the new event in her life as she entered the building's garage, focusing on Lewis Hamilton at that moment wouldn't organize her apartment.
Far away, Lewis accompanied Roscoe on a series of exams, his mind was divided between concern for the pet and the unexpected meeting with his soulmate, Lewis didn't even ask her name, his mother would lecture him if she knew how rude he had been.
"The tests didn't show anything big, Mr. Hamilton, he just has a cold, combined with the jet leg, in a few days, with plenty of hydration and proper nutrition, Roscoe will be fine again" the veterinarian said, handing over a box of canine vitamins and supplements, which would help the dog's recovery. "But call me if something goes wrong"
Lewis felt instantly more relieved, Roscoe had taken the medication and was already showing significant improvement, and this made the pilot's heart much lighter. While stroking Roscoe's short fur, Lewis finally realized how confusing everything was: he was seeing the real colors of the world and there was a huge headache growing in his brain, i.e, he really had no idea how he managed to get to the clinic. Maybe he was on autopilot mode, however, with his adrenaline dropping, Lewis had no idea how he would get back to the hotel, okay, he knew the streets of London like no one else, but things changed and the colors left him confused.
He had a little trouble identifying his bank's app on his cell phone, the screen was surprisingly bright and colorful, he had no idea that everything had so much color. He placed Roscoe in the carrier and called whoever could save him at that moment.
"Nick, I need help, man."
Her head was pounding with a headache that was difficult to deal with, she had trouble getting things out of the boxes, everything was shining in bright colors that she had no idea how to deal with. Seeing colors was something she had longed for since she was fifteen, but damn she didn't expect it to be this bad! He collapsed on the sofa, feeling the world spinning around him and a part of his skull throbbing, by God that was horrible!
The world was extremely colorful, she didn't know how to discern anything, the letters were lost among the colors and she thought she had returned to the literacy period. Uh, there was so much to be done, she would have to go to some medical appointments to check if everything was ok with her new condition, she would have to learn the name of each color, and wow, there were so many! She was already tired.
"I found my soulmate" she said softly, staring at the blissfully white wall. "My soulmate is none other than Lewis Hamilton... God, I don't know if I'm ready..."
She needed to tell someone and grabbed her cell phone, cursing her choice as the bright colors flickered on the screen, causing discomfort in her eyes and increasing her headache. Jessie was his immediate contact.
"I love you, but fuck, it better be important, I was about to have a wonderful afternoon of intense sex and-..."
"I found him.
The silence grew between the two and it didn't take long for it to be replaced by a genuine scream of happiness.
"OH MY GOD Y/N! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" Jessie exclaimed, it was easy to see that she was smiling while shouting into the phone. "When was it? Tell me everything!"
Y/N massaged her forehead, trying to ease the headache, but she knew it was worth it, Jessie was her closest friend, her most loyal and she deserved to be the first to know. And Kimberly too, the two of them have always been very firm pillars throughout her life, Y/N needed to tell both of them.
"I thought you were about to have an afternoon of intense sex..."
"Lan knows that I love him, but he also knows that you're my girl and have priority in my life, so he can accept... Actually he is playing now, so tell me everything, donβt hide absolutely ANYTHING from me!β
"Okay, I'll add Kimberly to the call, she deserves to know too."
"Great, perfect!"
It didn't take long for the third girl to appear on the call, from the residual noise, Kimberly was in the middle of work. The keyboard clicked non-stop.
"Is important? I'm trying to finish some spreadsheets here."
"She found him!" Jessie stepped forward, and they heard Kimberly freeze, with no keyboard sound in the background.
"Are you guys serious?"
"Absolutely yes, Kim! She found him today!"
"I would scream if I could! I'm so, so happy you found your perfect match, Y/N! You deserve so much!" She said sincerely, making his heart warm again, Y/N had amazing friends. "Tell us how it went, we need the details."
"Today was such a strange day that it deserves a podium" she said and giggled at the joke, which would only make sense when telling who her soulmate was. "I was in the process of moving boxes from one apartment to another and when I was carrying the last two, I got involved in a car crash near the center.
"Are you well? Did you have any injuries? Did the idiot cover the insurance deductible?"
"We didn't get to discuss it because the guy who hit me is my soulmate."
"Oh, that changes things, but he still has to pay for his car."
"Jes, love.. he can buy me a new car, no problem" Y/N laughed, still in disbelief about it.
βYouβre not telling me something, Y/N, you can spill the details, girl.β
"Yeah, I'm feeling it too, tell me everything"
"Are you sitting?"
"I didn't even get out of bed, tell me soon"
"Yes, yes, now speak!"
"I collided with Lewis fucking Hamilton"
Again silence appeared in the conversation before a scream echoed through the device.
"FUCK, I DON'T BELIEVE! I'M FREAKING OUT HERE Y/N!" Jessie couldn't contain herself, and Y/N laughed a little, she would have screamed too if it weren't for her head hurting.
"Jes, please calm down, you're going to blow out my headphones, or worse, my eardrums!" Kim scolded.
"Okay, I'm calm now, I promise! But tell me, how are you? Does your head hurt? How is the color reception in your eyes?"
"Regarding him? I don't know, I know him through the media and I've seen him several times on TV, so that left me confused" she confessed, playing with the ring on her finger. "I have a terrible headache and looking at everything makes me even more sore."
"Uh and I'm screaming like crazy, I'm sorry baby"
"The colors are strange, I didn't imagine they would be so... Vibrant" She said, letting her head fall onto the couch and closing her eyes. The headache eased a little and she breathed a sigh of relief. "And surprising everyone, I don't know what to expect from this."
"I would be surprised if you knew how to deal, you are the soulmate of Lewis Hamilton, the national hero in Formula One" Jessie said. "And for the rest we will be there tomorrow to help you"
"We definitely will, you're not going to go through this alone" Kimberly reaffirmed "and have you spoken to him yet?"
"Not yet, I'm scared"
"Fair enough, I would be too, in fact I was too, so it's normal to be scared, how about we eat pizza tonight? I think this conversation needs to be in person, and we can still help you talk to him" Kim suggested.
"Kim, you're a damn angel! I'll take the wine and chocolate!" Jessie said before taking her leave.
"I'll bring ice cream, God knows how much we'll need it today" Kim pointed out. "And please Y/N, take a painkiller for your headache, it won't go away because you had only brief contact with him, but it will help make it bearable, if that's possible... So get some sleep until tonight, we'll be there at 8pm.
"Don't worry, I'll be asleep in minutes, I'm exhausted. See you later, Kim"
Y/N crawled into the bed, which luckily she had already left tidy, with clean sheets and pillowcases, as well as new blankets, she fell asleep before she could cover herself properly.
At the hotel, Lewis had a hot water bottle on his forehead and Roscoe rested calmly on his lap. Nicolas paced back and forth inside the room.
"Your headache won't go away until you talk to her properly," Nicolas said, looking at his brother. "Do you have her phone number?
Lewis took the thermal bag off his head and checked his phone begrudgingly, he was hating the phone with all his might, "No call log, I won't force her space, she will call me when she is comfortable"
"Lew, right now she has as much of a headache as you do, so I don't think she's comfortable."
Lewis knew, he was aware of all the processes since he was thirteen, and he always thought he was prepared, but the reality was different from the theory. No one had said that the headache was unbearable and the colors would be uncomfortable at first.
"I know, I know, but we were taken by surprise and I don't want to pressure anything"
Nicolas sat next to his brother.
"How are you with all this?"
"I don't know? I always thought the soulmate thing was overrated, people 'destined' to love each other? A beautiful film script"
"And you still think that after you found her?"
"I don't really know... I think something clicked, but it's weird."
"Of course it is, you've found the person of your life, it's not a normal thing, after all and whoever runs this soulmate business, has no flaws."
Lewis sighed, Nick was right. Destined relationships were not included in the statistics of toxic relationships. Only couples formed by people who were not destined ended badly. There were hundreds of news stories talking about people not destined for toxic and abusive relationships and marriages. Lewis rolled his eyes - and then regretted it, it clicked painfully in his brain, soulmates were perfect halves destined to find each other. A meeting of souls, literally.
No relationship was one hundred percent perfect, but when it came to soulmates, things were less likely to fail, as there was natural complicity, love and everything that Lewis thought was nonsense. He never believed he would find his destiny, but there he was, feeling terrible headaches from a slightly reactive and unknown woman.
Fuck, everything was a fucking mess.
a/n: I'm really enjoying writing this series, everything is a mess, there's still a lot of things to happen and I'm VERY EXCITED HERE. My mind is working at 100km/h! This theme of soulmates really got me, I'm surrendered here (β β₯β οΉβ β₯β )β‘
