Kenma Kozume x GN Reader

Genre(s): Fluff, strangers to friends, crack moments

A/N: Hey guys! This is just a random thing I got inspiration for after reading (half) of a Kuroo fanfic. I hope y'all enjoy!

...

Moving out of your parents' house to go live right on campus wasn't an easy thing for you to do, considering you weren't a very social person. You knew you'd need a roommate to help you pay for food and bills, and despite your lack of social skills, you were willing to search for someone to live with.

In your first year, you were paired up with a girl who was rather nice. She didn't have any loud or obnoxious friends over, she didn't stay up late, she wasn't loud, and she just overall respected you... For the most part. She tended to get mad easily, and even if it wasn't at you, she'd yell at you like all hell broke loose. So, as soon as the year was over, you quickly packed your things and left to get another campus dorm.

In your second year, your roommate was a WHOLE lot worse. She had no respect for your privacy, she stayed up late into the night and kept you up as well, laughed as loud as her friends did while they searched through your shared fridge and only took YOUR food, and she always talked badly about you. Half way in your second year, your roommate sat you down and told you that SHE was moving to a new dorm because she could not handle YOUR behavior. You thanked whatever God was out there that she was finally gone until you got a new roommate.

Your new roommate, however, was an angel compared to your last roommate. He always cleaned up after himself and he offered to take you to places because you were nice to him. He was like a house husband of sorts. Too bad he had a girlfriend, cuz you would've definitely married him. He moved out of the dorm to move into a separate apartment with his girlfriend, so you were left alone once again.

That was until Kenma became your new roommate in your third year...

At first, he was extremely quiet, only coming out of his room for food, not even bothering to say a simple "hi" to you. You were a bit put off by it, but you started to get used to it because it meant that you could study in peace, and he'd just be silent in his room, like he was never there.

One day though, you heard a loud banging on your front door, wondering if Kenma had gotten a delivery or something, since he never had friends come over. You opened the door and saw a tall, black haired, bed head man smirking down at you as he talked, with what you assumed was a fake deep voice to seem cool.

"I'm looking for Kenma, but I guess you'll do." He said smoothly with a smirk you wanted to smack off his face, but he either didn't notice your distaste, or he didn't care. You opened the door wider to let him in as you turned back to call Kenma out of his room. Surprisingly, your usually awkward roommate was already out of his room, glaring daggers at the tall male. He kept his voice even and monotone as he spoke insults to the new man in your living room.

"Kuroo, how did you find out where I live? I never gave you my address." The bed head, Kuroo, smiled brightly as he came closer to Kenma.

"You didn't have to give me your address," he patted Kenma's shoulder even after Kenma knocked his arm away, looking him in the eyes as he continued. "Your mom gave me your dorm number and told me to check in on you and make sure you were making friends."

Kenma sighed heavily, but led Kuroo to his room. He closed the door behind him as you continued to stand by the door, wondering what to do next. You didn't have to wonder long because as quickly as he was let into your roommate's room, he was soon kicked out. Kuroo only looked at his friend's door, and walked back towards the living room and made himself at home.

"So, when's dinner?"

...

Not only were you dealing with a slightly louder Kenma, you also had to deal with an almost daily visit from Kuroo. You didn't mind that Kenma felt the need to be louder in the dorms, because you could at least talk to him and he wouldn't ignore you. You could actually have a full conversation with the black haired male without him walking off to his room. Although his answers were often short and quiet, you were still having a conversation! And with Kuroo being in y'all's home most of the time, Kenma was a lot more willing to show his true personality, especially when the bed headed male would test his patience.

The extent of your day was just listening to Kenma become increasingly annoyed by Kuroo, who was purposely trying to rile him.

"Kenmaaaa! Kenmaaaa!"

"WHAT DO YOU WANT KUROO!?"

"Can I get a cup of water?"

"..."

And you would watch as Kenma slowly stood up and walked to his room to get something to beat Kuroo up with. The bed head would usually apologize and stop his antics for a measly 20 minutes until he decided to annoy you.

...

It was your fourth year of university and you had managed to hold onto a roommate longer than a year. Kenma surprisingly signed up to be roommates with you again and you were happy that he was at least comfortable enough to stay with you. Kuroo had his own life of course (I know, shocker), so he wasn't able to visit you both as often as he had before, which made you nervous about how living with Kenma would be without the bed head being there to provide y'all with entertainment.

You both settled into your new dorm, and continued to have short conversations with each other. When you were hanging out in the living room, Kenma would be nearby playing on his switch, studying for upcoming tests, or he was reading a book.

He was mostly playing on his switch though...

You knew that Kenma was getting comfortable around you when he started sitting on the couch with you, constantly asking you if you wanted to play a new game he had gotten. You would agree and you learned to play all of the quiet guy's games (and you became obsessed with his games). He also recommended books that he had read and you started enjoying his company.

He also became a little more chaotic.

"Can you cook me eggs?"

"Why would I cook eggs for you, Kenma?"

"Because you're a really nice, kind, awesome, spectacular roommate that wouldn't want their roommate to move out."

"... Do you mean that?"

"Oh, heck no."

"Okay, good."

"... You're actually a really stinky and lazy roommate."

"KENMA!"

But you didn't mind having a slightly loud, lazy, messy, lousy... Maybe you did mind having a slightly loud, lazy, messy, lousy roommate like Kenma, but you wouldn't trade him for the world <3

...

*Bonus*

"Hey Kenma."

"What?"

"I'd definitely trade you for a Snickers bar if Kuroo offered."

"...WHAT THE-"

~Kira~

I thought that I'd be living a crazy life that involved going on intense adventures and being undercover. Instead, I'm being forcibly confined in my Da Da's villain base with a doctor, a man capable of creating portals, and the only psychopath that's close to my age. All I want to do is be able to roam the streets and interact with any random person that's willing to listen to me. Yโ€™know if I were All For One, I'd think a bit more logically by allowing my daughter to go out more that way she doesn't decide to turn on me later for a sliver of freedom, but that's just me.

Even when Da Da does allow me to go out, I have to be supervised by one or more of his less recognizable villain followers so I don't run off. I wish that everyone in the base could understand why I'm frustrated, but they're all either fully grown adults who have chosen to make bad choices, or they're (Tomura) traumatized and brainwashed to follow whatever Da Da says. The only way that I can vent my frustration is to violently practice my quirks until I pass outโ€ฆ

Or I talk to Tomura.

I walk into the room, ignoring the โ€œDo Not Enter!!โ€ sign sloppily taped to his bedroom door, and sat next to the 19 year old as he click-clacks away on his video game. I lean my head on his shoulder and watch him play a little bit before speaking.

โ€œTomuโ€ฆ you ever wanna leave the base for hours on end sometimes? Y'know, just for fun?โ€ Tomura shakes his head, not bothering to pause his game to look at my expression.

โ€œI used to when I was younger, but I've gotten used to it here. I like not being forced outside all the time.โ€ He responded, using his head to nudge my head in acknowledgement. I pursed my lips in disagreement, muttering, โ€œAt least you get to leave.โ€

The boy finally paused his game to give a pointed look in my direction. He dropped his controller carelessly on the floor, propping himself on his bed. Tomura patted a spot that allowed us to lay in the bed comfortably. Sighing, he wrapped an arm around my shoulders and spoke quietly to avoid anyone eavesdropping.

โ€œI get what you're feeling, but ya kinda have to accept that Sensei's not gonna let you leave.โ€

โ€œDo you think Da Da would let me leave if there was a fire?โ€ Tomura tapped a gloved finger against his chin as if he were actually thinking about it. Finally coming to an answer, he smiled at me.

โ€œEven if a tsunami came through and hit your room, he probably wouldn't even let you call for help.โ€ I slapped Tomuraโ€™s arm as he laughed uncontrollably. I tried to calm him down as he coughed up a lung.

In a way, his statement felt as genuine as his laughter. I laughed a little to keep from ruining the mood, but he could tell that I was hurt. He shook his head to deny his response, trying to ease me.

โ€œI'm sure he'll eventually let you run around out in the real world. I'm sure he's just doing this to protect youโ€ฆโ€ He said as he rubbed my arm reassuringly.

I did not feel reassured.

But I smiled regardless, thankful for the encouragement. Tomura wasn't usually an encouraging person because he had no use for it, but he always knew what would cheer me up. I leaned against the headboard, closing my eyes to come up with what I wanted to really say. I allowed my quirk to dig through the boyโ€™s head and projected a message.

โ€˜Thanks. You always know how to cheer me up, don't you?โ€™

His cheeks grew red as he turned away from me, trying not to show me his expressions. I huffed, sliding off of his messy bed and back into the floor. He slid into the floor as well, pressing โ€˜continueโ€™ on his game, playing it once more. He lost himself in his fictional world, allowing me to leave his room to enter my own fictional world.

โ€”

To my dismay, I had read my small collection of books I hid under my bed, which meant I couldn't lose track of time until I was supposed to train again. This was the only thing I had to keep me from losing my mind, even if some of the books were about how sleeping can heal your body, or how plants survive. Some of my stories were about love, loss, and happiness, and I'd do anything to get that backโ€ฆ

I have to at least ask so I have a chance to gather more books. If I can't have complete freedom, I'd gladly take a whole library of books in exchange.

I hid my books back under my bed and walked out of my room. I made a small lock and key and attached it to my door, locking it to the best of my ability. I didn't want anyone to look through my room without my knowledge, but it would probably happen regardless of what I did.

I sauntered towards Kurogiri, the only person in the room, putting on my most nonchalant face. If Da Da was sleeping or busy with The Doctor, then I'd be good to leave on Kurogiriโ€™s permission. It'd be a lot less trouble to go through him if I could.

I took a calm breath, giving a small smile to the man who could create portals. I can do thisโ€ฆ the worst he can say is that I can't leave and I'll never be able to leave as long as I'm under All For One's ruleโ€ฆ

I definitely don't want that response.

โ€œKurogiri.โ€

โ€œWhat is it, Kira?โ€ I couldn't help but start sweating as I was confronted with this actual conversation. I thought I'd be smooth about it, and this would already be over with.

But this is actually terrifying. Asking if I can leave is always terrifying.

โ€œIs it okay if I leave to go to a store. I just want to buy a book.โ€ Kurogiri gave me a blank expression (at least what I assumed was a blank expression), thinking about what to say. He looked straight into my eyes, causing sweat to roll down the side of my face. As nervous as I was to receive an answer, I was still on the edge of my seat, ready for anything to happen.

Kurogiri stared at me for what felt like an eternity before he went back to polishing liquor glasses.

โ€œAll For One says you should be back before your training starts. He sent for Victor to escort you on your outing.โ€ I nodded, ready to head towards the door before Kurogiri spoke again.

โ€œHe states that you are only allowed to roam in the shopping center close to the base. You should have enough time to see or buy something and be back before training.โ€ I stopped in my tracks, allowing myself to inhale deeply, focusing all of my energy into my creation quirk.

I thought carefully about every little detail on the coins and bills I would be using to buy my items, and I felt a part of me drain into making these pieces of money. I created thousands of yenโ€™s worth of money, and stuffed it in my shortโ€™s pockets. I thanked the portal man and waited for Victor outside of the building.

I could hear heavy breathing as Victor ran to my side, hunching over as soon as he made it to me. He eventually slowed his breathing to be less unstable, but he was still out of his element. We nodded to each other โ€“ his being less coordinated than mine โ€“ and we both began to walk to the shopping center.

โ€”

I would never get over the sight of actual people walking around and going into their desired stores to buy everyday items. I especially wouldn't get tired of seeing all of the glowing store signs and the colorful displays outside the shops. I always dreamed of walking outside whenever I wanted and just looking inside the stores just to look. I wouldn't have a reason for going in, but it'd be nice to be able to do so.

Victor led the way after I told him what I was intending on buying, leaving me no chance to sight see if I wanted to catch up to him. He slipped by random passers-by effortlessly while I kept bumping into people, apologizing left and right for the intrusion. He flowed smoothly through the large crowds while I struggled to keep up with the amount of people. If only I was allowed out more, I'd be able to handle this, easy peasy.

We eventually met in front of an unfamiliar store. It must be a new store. I bravely walk in โ€“ back and shoulders straight โ€“ as I walk to where I see the wall of books.

This store had more than books it seemed. There was only a big shelf of books, and everything I saw ranged from tiny clothes to glow in the dark pens. I had never seen such a diverse room before. It filled me up with adrenaline, causing me to pick up a random book and scan through it almost immediately. I couldn't stop myself. I was just too excited.

In my excitement, I came up with a master plan to keep my book trips from being too frequent: I was going to scan all of the books and store them in my photographic memory. I wouldn't even have to flip through every page of the books in order to gain the full story. I could just commit the titles to memory and I'd have the full book. Victor couldn't be less bothered, standing with a foot propped against the wall. He tapped to an infrequent beat as I expertly studied all of the titles.

I finished faster than I thought, ensuring that I wouldn't be caught. I pick up a random book, glancing at the first page, finding it interesting enough to purchase. I found another book alongside it, choosing to buy them both to avoid leaving empty handed. I looked back at Victor to find him glaring at the other side of the room. I tried to find the cause of his irritation, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me to the front of the store.

I found myself in front of a small woman with long tiger claws and sabertooth teeth, gently tapping away at the cashierโ€™s device. She looked up at me and gave me a beautiful smile, muttering a small, โ€œWelcome to Everything Palace, how are you doing today?โ€ I froze, only moving to give her the books and to pull out my money. I wasn't used to talking to someone soโ€ฆ nice. Even Tomura had his moments of teenage angst and disrespect towards me.

I nodded my head and gave a small, โ€œI'm fine,โ€ with my best attempt at a smile. The woman gave Victor a side glance, making me worried that he was coming off weird toward the store staff. I attempted to excuse his standoffish behavior.

โ€œThat's my brother. He doesn't like shopping at all, so he's not in the best mood.โ€ The woman nodded in understanding, giving me another beautiful smile as she gave me the price for my books. I gave her the exact change and she handed me my bag. As we walked off, I heard the cashier say, โ€œHave a nice day.โ€ I turned around and gave her a small head bow.

We pushed through the glass doors, springing into the calm yet bustling sidewalks of the shopping center, Victor already taking off to head to the base. I pulled him back, receiving a questioning look from the unrecognizable villain. I spoke loud enough for him to hear me through the chatter of more passers-by.

โ€œCan we go to a store that has a hair brush or something? I have extra moneyโ€ฆโ€ Victor nodded, warning me that we only had an hour left before I was needed for training. I acknowledged his message and we walked through more busy crowds towards another unfamiliar store.

โ€”

The wind picked up quickly as we hurried out of the store back to the quieter walkways. I exhaled, wanting nothing more than to wander to more shops or areas to release my stress levels. I seriously did not want to leave. Even with all of the discomfort of bumping into different people and such, I would rather remain here than in another place.

I was gonna go crazy if I went back to the base. I was gonna do something crazyโ€ฆ

I let myself fall behind as Victor continued to stride back to the lair. I couldn't move away from the front of the store. I couldn't even push myself to move back into the store. I just continued to stand there, waiting for something to happen โ€“ for someone to take me away to a better place than where I was living.

But as I continued to stand here, I realized that my โ€œbodyguardโ€ hadn't moved at all. He was staring at me from a distance, urging me to come with him, but I wasn't thinking straight.

And because I wasn't thinking straight, I started running.

Oh my God, I was running!

Running away from Victor.

I could hear his feat pounding harshly against the sidewalk as I kept on running. He was already tired, despite the fact that we only walked to every place we went to, but it didn't seem to stop him from runningโ€ฆ just like me. Adrenaline pumped through my veins, making me feel absolutely invincible to the world. I didn't know where I would run to, but I knew that I wouldn't stop.

And I knew Victor wouldn't stop either. I kept my pace, even when he started using his energy to run faster. My brain turned off the moment I started moving, so I turned myself invisible and sprinted into an alleyway opening. I searched my body for anything that would give me away, and I found a small tracker pressed firmly to my shirt. I managed to peel it off and stomp on it before throwing it as far down the open street as I could.

Before I could catch my breath, Victor was right in my path. I held my breath as the villain stopped in the alleyway, trying to sense where I was. I couldn't give up this easily โ€“ it would be a waste. If he found me right now, I would be dragged home and tied to a chair and probably tortured to death. Or until I became obedient.

He walked slowly down the small area, getting closer and closer to where I was hiding beside a dumpster. I prepared for my end long before I started my chase, but before the man could get any closer, I felt my mind connect to his, projecting an out of breath voice in his brain.

โ€˜I ran into a dead-end! I need to go deeperโ€ฆโ€™

The villain's legs twitched, pulling away from my hiding spot as he decided to run deeper into the alleyway. Far away from meโ€ฆ

He dropped my bags of things before rushing to my assumed destination. I wasted no time in gathering my items and pushing myself in the crowds of people as I turned off my invisibility. I had no idea where I would go, but I would find out once I got there.

I tried not to panic, but I had no idea where I was going. The streets felt neverending, and the people didn't stop coming. I inhaled deeply to calm myself, but it wasn't enough. I felt overwhelmed and scared, but also excited and rebellious.

I felt like I could flyโ€ฆ

And if I could fly, I'd crash right back down and smash my face into the ground.

I was free to go wherever I wanted as long as my โ€œbodyguardโ€ couldn't find me, and that would probably be for a while. He seemed to take my subconscious bait and ran to find me at the end of the alleyway. I couldn't tell if my projection quirk activated out of fear or survival.

It definitely wasn't that serious. Even if he had caught me back in the alley, the worst Da Da could've done was forbid me from having anything or going anywhere with someone constantly watching me.

But thinking about the consequences wouldn't get me to a safer place. I had to actually look around and find somewhere to hide, but also some place to enjoy the city. It seemed impossible to find a place exactly like that, but my luck was turning around today, because I found the perfect place:

A park.

I had only seen them in magazines or picture books, but they could not compare to the actual thing. I was in awe at how nice and beautiful the scenery was. It also had lots of trees. Absolutely perfect for hiding.

I sauntered onto the parkโ€™s pathway, appearing as nonchalant as I could to avoid suspicion. I was just another regular, non-villain citizen enjoying a stroll in the park, as one does. My outfit made me fit in with the crowds, the only abnormality being my faded red eyes. Other than my unchangeable facial features, I wore a simple pair of black shorts, and a tight black tank top, with combat boots that fit a little too snug.

I found a park bench nearby, and I approached it with ease. I sat down quietly, choosing to tap my foot to the same infrequent beat that Victor had tapped to in the Everything Palace.

If that place really did have everything, I would have to come back and get more stuff.

A gentle wind passed by as I dropped my chin into my hand, not as calm as I'd like to be. I shivered, not being used to the sudden temperature change, even if it was a simple breeze. I closed my eyes and took another deep breath in, then out, then in, then out.

I opened my eyes to see a boy who actually looked my age (sorry Tomura) sitting next to me on the bench. He distanced himself, but was still close enough that I could feel his presence. I wondered how long he was hereโ€ฆ

I stared at him for a couple of seconds, but when I went to turn away, I felt him shift in his seat. I intended not to keep looking at him, but as my eyes wandered to where he was, I saw him staring back at me intensively. I met his intensity with my own, sitting up and turning my full body towards him.

We continued to stare at each other until I spoke up.

โ€œWhy are we just staring at each other?โ€ the boy's red and white hair shook as he looked back down at the book in his hands. I looked down as well, immediately recognizing the book's title. I smiled at him.

โ€œIโ€™ve read that book before,โ€ I stated enthusiastically, but the boy continued to look down at it, twiddling his fingers. I tried again.

โ€œI won't spoil it for you, but I found it really good.โ€ The boy finally looked up from his hands, giving me a curt nod. We continued to awkwardly stare at one another. We tried to break the silence.

โ€œWhat's your name-โ€

โ€œWhy are you talking to me-โ€

Another brief moment of awkward silence before I gestured for him to speak again.

โ€œI don't get why you're talking to me. Why?โ€

โ€œWhy am I talking to you?โ€ He nodded, tilting his head in confusion.

โ€œWell, simply put, you're the first person I've seen since I've been locked away in my own home.โ€ I knew that my answer would spark a few questions, which was what I wanted. I wanted the boy to keep talking to me. I wanted to savor this moment.

But he only nodded, looking away once more. Again, awkward silence.

I hate every moment of this. I have to get him to talk to me.

Well, if he won't talk to me, then I'll do all of the talking.

โ€œYou probably just want to read your book in peace, but I'm gonna talk. You don't have to listen.โ€ The boy nodded, opening his book to the very first page. He must be a fast reader because he only glanced at the page for 5 seconds before flipping the next one.

โ€œSo I was created by my Da Da, and it wasn't a normal creation,โ€ The boy's hair moved slightly as his eyes met mine in a slight glare. I raised my hands, trying to defend myself.

โ€œI'm not about to say anything weird! I was just going to say that my Da Da used a quirk to make me. He lured a woman to his place and created me.โ€ I stared off, trying not to think about how weird this sounded.

โ€œAfter the usual 9 months of pregnancy, the woman had me in a hospital. As soon as she could, she came back to my Da Da's home and she dropped me off with him, like he planned for her to.โ€ Again, his different colored eyes looked up from his book and at me, almost in disbelief. It was understandableโ€ฆ a random stranger telling another random stranger about a possibly fake backstory. But I persevered.

โ€œSo my Da Da raised me up to 4 before he took in another kid, who is currently 19 years old. He's mean to me sometimes, but he's the only company I have that isn't a full grown adult.โ€ I began to rock back and forth as my anxiety sank in. I was really telling this random stranger my life story. Even if he didn't believe me, I would face far worse serious consequences if Da Da found out.

But I continued.

โ€œAfter I turned 5, Da Da gave me four of his quirks, and I got my own. He trained me to use all of them, and I wasn't really allowed to leave the house. I'm still not allowed to leave, but sometimes I get permission to go to the shopping center and buy things. I have to take a bodyguard with me though.โ€ The dual haired boy nodded in what I assumed was understanding, because he looked up and stared at me once more.

โ€œThatโ€™s why I'm out here now. I asked to go and buy books from the shopping center, and I had to bring one of my Da Daโ€™s follow- I mean bodyguards with me.โ€ The boy's book was closed and disregarded as he paid attention to my story. He only interrupted to ask a question.

โ€œWhy are you here now? Aren't you supposed to have a bodyguard with you?โ€ I acknowledged him, giving him an answer.

โ€œUh, about thatโ€ฆ I kinda ran away from him.โ€ I expected the boy to shake his head in disapproval, like everyone else usually did, but he only gave me another curt nod, letting me continue.

โ€œSo, now I'm on the run. I'm gonna be in so much trouble when he finds me and drags me homeโ€ฆโ€ The boy gave me a sympathetic look, as if he understood my struggle. He began to speak quietly.

โ€œWhat kind of quirks do you have?โ€ I peered at the dual eyed boy, wondering if I had given him too much information. But then I realized, I had piqued his curiosity!

I grinned, scooting closer to him as I replied.

โ€œI have 5 right now, but I'm supposed to get more when I turn 15,โ€ I prepared my hands to show him my quirks at play. The boy instinctively backed away, causing a knot to form in my stomach.

Was I already making a new person I met afraid of me?

I couldn't fret; I had to show him what I could do.

โ€œI have a creation quirk,โ€ I felt more of my energy drain as I pulled a copy of his book from under my shirt, allowing him to flip through the pages to see if it was accurate.

โ€œI can also use my creation quirk to create things from my photographic memory quirk,โ€ I gestured for the boy to flip to a random page of the book, show it to me, and then quickly take it away so I could prove my quirk to him.

I read back the whole page, word to word, and he gave me a ghost of a smile. I smiled back and continued.

โ€œI canโ€ฆโ€ I turned invisible and teleported to the other side of the bench, gently tapping his shoulder. He turned in my direction before I appeared back into his sight. โ€œ...turn invisible and teleport,โ€

His eyes shook as he grabbed the handle bar of the bench. He looked quite startled.

โ€œAnd last but certainly not least, I have-โ€ As I tried to give a demonstration of my quirk, I was harshly pulled away from the boy's side, hitting the ground. I gazed at the perpetrator, ready to yell, but I was met with a familiar set of fingersโ€ฆ

Finger gunsโ€ฆ

As I tried to run away, Victorโ€™s hand pulled me back up in an attempt to make me stand. I thrashed around, attempting to run away from the villain's arms. But it was no use.

I was caught before I could even finish showing off.

The dual haired boy sat as still as he was before, but I could see his eyes move between me and my โ€œbodyguardโ€. The only movement he attempted was to raise his hand, but he decided not to fully raise it. He only let it hover over the bench.

Puffing out a gust of air, I gave up on freeing myself from Victor as he held my purposely limp body. He glared at the boy around my age before he gave a fake smile.

โ€œSorry kid, my, uh, sister's gone off the deep end. She'sโ€ฆ she's not there in the head,โ€ I glared at him, the man holding me tightly to prevent me from running. He looked down and gave me a pointed look.

The boy looked as though he didn't believe Victor, but he nodded anyways. I glared down at the ground to avoid getting in more trouble, but I could sense that I wouldn't be able to see the light of day again.

Especially after what I had done.

The villain gave a fake smile to the boy before dragging me off. I looked into the boy's heterochromic eyes and used my final quirk.

โ€˜Thanks for the talk. It was nice meeting you!โ€™

He gave me a nod in understanding, watching as I was forced to leave the park with Victor.

Maybe I'd see him again in the future, but it wouldn't be likely. I'd probably be dead by then if All For One had a say in it.

~Shoto~

The one day that I was able to avoid my old man's training session, I had to be inconvenienced with someone else.

All I wanted was to read at the park. My house always feels too cramped to actually relax.

But I also feel rather guilty.

The girl that talked to me initially annoyed me with her constant attempts to have a conversation, but as I saw her getting dragged away, I couldn't help but feel frustrated with myself. I saw that man approaching her. I could've stopped him if I wanted to.

But I didn't.

It shouldn't even matter to me. I'll never see that girl again. We didn't even share our names. And even if we did, she said that she's not allowed to leave her house without permission.

I should just forget. It's not my fault that she ran away and stayed to talk to meโ€ฆ

I walked back home, trying to forget about what had happened. I have other pressing matters to worry about.

As I walk through the door, I am greeted by my older sister, Fuyumi.

โ€œWelcome back, Shoto! I made you some lunch before you train with dad.โ€ She smiled as I sat at the table, eating the food. She sat across me, flaunting her new glasses.

โ€œYou like emโ€™, don't you?โ€ I could not desipher if she meant her glasses or the food she made for me. I took a guess, saying my answer cautiously.

โ€œ...Yes?โ€ Fuyumi shook her head in disapproval, probably already knowing what I was thinking.

โ€œShoto! I mean the glasses! Don't you like them? I got them yesterday after I went to get my prescription renewed.โ€ I nodded, not understanding what was so exciting about the glasses. All I could do was agree.

โ€œNow, Shoto, do you like the food?โ€ I nodded quickly, patiently waiting to answer after I finished my food.

โ€œIt's delicious,โ€ My sister looked at me expectingly as she waited for me to finish more of my food. I looked back to her and nodded my head.

โ€œ...Thank you.โ€

She smiled brightly as she came around the table to give me an unexpected hug. My body tensed up as she shook me back and forth.

โ€œYou're most certainly welcome!โ€ She picked up my empty plate and put it in the sink, waving a hand when I tried to wash my own plate.

โ€œGo and get ready for training, Sho.โ€ I gave a curt and unamused nod, walking slowly to the training room. I wanted nothing to do with the old manโ€™s traing sessions, but he drilled it into my head that I needed to, โ€œBe the strongest student at U.A.!โ€ I couldn't care less about what the old man said. I could just train on my own.

But as I slid the door open, I noticed that the room looked different. There was more training equipment, and my father sat on a small bench, staring at the wall. When he finally saw me waiting, he rose to stand in front of me. He looked into my eyes, attempting to intimidate me.

โ€œShoto. I did not say you could skip your training.โ€ He said in his usual voice. The same voice that sounded like he would yell at me any minute. I did not flinch though, because I've been used to this. It is the routine.

โ€œWhere were you? Explain to me what you found more interesting than attending your strength training?โ€ I held in an annoyed sigh, knowing that any attempt to calm down would be met with anger. I stared back into his eyes and braced myself.

โ€œI was reading in the park,โ€ the smallest specks of flames threatened to erupt from my father's body, so I shook my head.

โ€œIf you want me to be the number 1 hero, you can't work me until I'm dead. I need to rest.โ€

The old man's face morphed into complete anger โ€“ flames erupting. I continued to stand there as if I wasn't bothered, but it did bother me. Unexpectedly, he began to laugh. His laughter turned into louder laughter, then he yelled out in triumph.

โ€œOh, we're going to work you today!โ€ He laughed once more, causing my head to spin for a moment.

โ€”

I opened my bedroom door before I collapsed onto my bed. I took a deep breath in. I took a deep breath out. I would not let this get one over on me.

As I attempted to breath through the pain, I subconsciously thought about that girl.

That annoying, troubled girl.

I can't say much, because I'm not in the best situation either.

The point is, I started thinking about the girl, and I wondered if she was okay. Was she serious when she said she was going to get in trouble? Is she being punished right now? Why was she so willing to tell a complete stranger about her situation?

All of these questions would remain unanswered, because I would never see her again. I would never hear her talk about how her father locks her in their house, only allowing her to go on with permission and a bodyguard. I was never going to ask her what other quirks she was going to get when she turned 15.

And despite the initial irritation I felt towards her, I could see her side of things. I don't interact with anyone because it's a waste. Nobody wants to know how I actually feel โ€“ because I'm Endeavorโ€™s son. That girl only came up to talk to me because she desired freedom. She ran away from her guardian because she wanted to have a choice to leave her house. I can leave whenever I want, although I would likely receive yelling from everyone under this household. But she can't.

And that brings back the guilt.

If I had warned her about the man approaching us, she could've run away. She could've run far, far away and never seen me again.

But she would be freeโ€ฆ.

I continued to breathe in. And breathe out. And I continued until I fell asleep. I couldn't think about unnecessary things if I wasn't conscious.

I should have this dilemma figured out by morning. It shouldn't be my focus.

So I will erase it from my memory and forget it ever happened.

Being dragged home isn't fun. For starters, if you're not actively resisting, your shoes trail across the cement, and then your shoes get all scratched and ruined. Secondly, it hurts to resist being dragged just as much as purposely going limp. My legs and arms โ€“ especially my arms โ€“ are already incredibly sore because of the grip that Victor has on me. And lastly, it's agonizingly slow. If someone had told me that this was a form of torture back in the ancient days, I'd believe them.

But I deserve this for running away. This would've been the only way to teach me that my actions have consequences. Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could stomach the idea of doing this again, especially with Victor again. He'd probably grab me as soon as I walked out of any store just to make sure I wouldn't run again.

But if I had to be dragged all the way home for a millennia vs. receiving whatever punishment All For One gave me, I'd choose to be dragged. Now that I think about it, it's not as bad as the idea of being punished! Yeah, I think I'd prefer to have Victor drag me home instead of facing my actual consequences.

But the universe doesn't give me what I want.

We eventually made it home. Victor dropped my arms and I landed roughly on the ground. I was a splattered pancake of anxiety. If I could've curled up into a ball and hid under my bed until I died, then that would be better than the upcoming punishment. I did not want to think about what Da Da could do to me with a snap of his finger.

And because of my reluctance to move into the house on my own, Victor had to lift me up by my sore arms once more, and drag me inside.

To say I was scared would be an understatement. I was terrified. I cannot emphasize how much I don't want to be in this situation, but here I was.

I was immediately greeted by a usually expressionless Kurogiri, alongside Tomura. I was dropped onto the floor again, landing with a huge thud sound. Tomura looked at me with curiosity, tilting his head to question why I was on the floor. I looked up at him only to shake my head to him as I dug into his mind.

โ€˜Iโ€™m in serious trouble nowโ€ฆโ€™

My housemate looked around cautiously before staring back down at me. He let me read his thoughts for a splinter of a moment.

โ€˜What did you do?!?โ€™ Tomura thought as he had begun to move towards my direction. Kurogiri stopped him, holding him back by his shoulder.

More confusion was spread across his features. I had to respond.

โ€˜Iโ€ฆ kinda ran away from Victor and went to a park.โ€™

The 19 year oldโ€™s eyes were laced with concern as he shook his head in disapproval. Kurogiri's hand tightened around Tomuraโ€™s shoulder.

Before any more could be said โ€“ or thought between us โ€“ I was lifted up into a standing position. My legs hurt too much to even think about standing, but I walked to the back of the building with the support of the villains.

They led me to where All For One was resting.

I forced the anxiety and fear down my throat, hoping to stomach whatever was threatening to come out.

At last, I stood before my father as his villain followers continued to hold me. I lifted my head up, and was greeted by the expression my Da Da made. He had no eyes, no nose, not even a mouth. I always wondered how no one was afraid to look at him, but in truth, everyone was afraid to look at him.

Except for Tomura and I. We were so used to seeing his terribly inhuman face, we could not seem to fear it. But looking into where his eyes should be would often lead to a rabbit hole of possibilities in my mind. How was I supposed to know what he was thinking without the sudden quirk of his lips, or the twitch in his eye? So we stood there for what felt like an eternity until Da Da finally spoke up.

โ€œIs Kira here?โ€ He asked in a suspiciously calm tone. I tapped my foot the infrequent beat I heard from Victor before, waiting for anyone but me to say something.

โ€œYes, she is right here!โ€ Victor dropped me to the floor again, and I fell with a loud thud once again. The two villains left me there before All For Oneโ€™s voice rang out in the room.

โ€œLeave. I wish to speak to the girl. Alone.โ€ The two men left the room, closing the door behind them. I feared for the worst, but I believe the anticipation was the scariest part. My father did not move, like he could anyway. He sat there with no sudden movements. I kneeled on the ground before him, hoping to spare myself anymore embarrassment.

โ€œI have heard of what you've done,โ€ He started as I continued to kneel, head lowered completely. He continued.

โ€œAnd I can hear the worries in your mind. You fear the worst, don't you?โ€ I nodded, trying to pull myself together until I could shut myself in my room forever. I could not handle anymore of this anticipation.

โ€œWell, you worry for no reason. There's nothing to fear about.โ€ I looked up, tears threatening to run down my face, but I wiped them away. Confused, I moved closer to All For One to see if I could hear him correctly.

โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€ I said as my voice trembled. โ€œI did something wrongโ€ฆ don't I receive a punishment?โ€ I gulped whatever anxiety I felt and stayed still for the longest time before Da Da responded.

โ€œPunishment?โ€ He laughed to himself as I stared up at him in disbelief.

โ€œThere will be no punishment. Who gave you that idea?โ€ I felt a sort of anger mixed with relief that I wasn't going to ever leave the house again, but I also felt lied to. The whole point of forcing me to never run away would be to give me a punishment, right?

But I kept my mouth shut, even if he could read my thoughts.

โ€œChild, there is no reason to punish you. Teenagers rebel all the time. The only lesson you should learn is to never run away again.โ€ He gestures towards the door to the room.

โ€œPreferably for my followersโ€™ sake.โ€ I nodded, wondering if this was it. I wondered if I got off scott free.

โ€œSoโ€ฆ what do I do now?โ€ I asked in a cautious tone. Da Da tilted his head in my direction, waving me off as soon as he was done with me.

โ€œYouโ€™ll go to your room and resume the rest of your days as normal. And don't bother your other authority figures again.โ€ I nodded once more, standing up and bowing to my father.

โ€œYes, Da Da.โ€

โ€œI'm not your father, girl.โ€ I shook my head before limping out of the room. I let the door gently close behind me with a click. As I walked down the hall back to the main room, there was no one to be seen. They had all vanished.

I couldn't care less. I was ready to use the rest of my energy to create the books from my memory, hoping that it would keep me occupied. I felt more and more of my skin go numb as I created more and more books, stacking them under my bed in alphabetical order.

I was about finished until I heard a knock at my door. By this time, I had no patience or energy to deal with whoever was there, but I called out to them.

โ€œYou can come in.โ€

Strolling in came a wild haired Tomura with newly made gloves, and cleaner clothes than before. My eyes were blurry and I was not in a good conscience, but I patted a spot on my bed regardless. Tomura sat calmly on the bed, probably afraid to ruin whatever was on my bed. I finished creating my books and slid them under the bed as gently as I could.

Tomura's voice was quiet as he spoke.

โ€œWhat did he say?โ€ I stared at him with confusion written all over my features, trying my best to comprehend who he was talking about. He shook his head, repeating what he said.

โ€œWhat did Sensei say? Y'know, All For One?โ€ I finally registered who he was referring to, and I pulled the memories of exactly what he said to me.

โ€œHe told me that he wasn't going to punish me.โ€ His eyes were wide as he gawked at me. I continued.

โ€œAs long as I don't do anything else wrong, I won't receive a punishment. Da Da didn't give me anything specific.โ€ Tomura nodded as he placed his hands behind him, leaning back on his arms. I kicked off my boots as I fell back into my bed. I was dozing off until the older boy spoke once more.

โ€œTell me what's on your mind before you go to bed.โ€ I wanted nothing more than to sleep. But it's not like I had to do anything important tomorrow, other than training. So I gave into his curiosity.

โ€œI met a boy at the park I ran off to. He didn't say much to me, but I talked enough for the both of us.โ€ I sighed as my fingers ran through my tangled hair. โ€œHe only asked me why I was talking to him and what kind of quirks I had.โ€ I could feel Tomura's eyes on me as I turned away from him.

โ€œIt was fun.โ€ I whispered as if I was telling someone a secret. It did feel like a secret. The boy beside me didn't say anything, but I knew he was thinking something. I couldn't just ask him, because he's not that type of guy. He wouldn't just tell me his feelings if he was being held at gunpoint.

He spoke up.

โ€œWhat was so fun about it?โ€ His voice was quiet, but not soft. It was rough. He must've felt some way about my emotion because he only started acting like this when I said how I felt.

โ€œWell, I'm not used to going out. It was nice to talk to someone new for a change, even if he didn't say much. I could say whatever I wanted and we'd never see each other again.โ€ I felt the bed shift as I kept my eyes closed. I rolled back to where Tomura was sitting, opening my eyes to see him staring back at me. I closed my eyes again. He took in a deep breath and spoke once more.

โ€œI just don't understand. It doesn't sound all that fun.โ€ I shook my head and looked him in the eyes.

โ€œWhen you've been completely sheltered all of your life and never allowed to leave your house outside of shopping runs and having a bodyguard, any sort of freedom is considered fun.โ€ The boy in front me stared back at me, still not seeing the appeal. I turned back over and made myself cozy, only for Tomura to roll me over again. I rolled my eyes.

โ€œI'm so tired, you have no idea!โ€ He laughed quietly as he poked me all over my arm.

โ€œI heard that being tired is the best time to talk. Just let it all out!โ€ I rolled back over and pulled my blankets over me. I kicked him off the bed, making him land on the floor. He let out a small โ€œowโ€ before crawling over to where my head was. He stared as I tried to fall asleep. But he was really starting to annoy me.

โ€œFine. I'll tell you something that'll shut you up!โ€ Tomura grinned as I huffed, spilling my guts.

โ€œBecause I've been reading a lot of different books, I kind of have an understanding of how the outside world works,โ€ I started, catching the boy's curiosity. I sighed, continuing.

โ€œAnd I've read many love stories.โ€ I could feel him roll his eyes before I could finish. My goal was to shut him up, and that was what I was going to do.

โ€œAnd I've been thinking a lot about us. I know we've got a problematic age gap, but I think I am, in some way, in love with you.โ€ Tomura's eyes shot up, going from amused to panicked. He put his hands in front of him, trying to stop whatever I was going to say next. But I was going to keep annoying him.

โ€œI mean, I know it's not actual love because you're the only guy in my life that isn't a 30+ year old villain, but it just kinda happened.โ€ I tried to stop myself from laughing in my sleepy haze, but I was already at the point of giggling.

โ€œAnd you need to stop messing with me so much, or else-โ€ I felt his glove pressed against my mouth to keep me from spewing more nonsense, but I was laughing like crazy by the time he pulled away. I looked up to see Tomura's face shift to disgust as he saw how much I was laughing. I calmed myself down as Tomura gave me a pointed look. He shook his head disapprovingly.

โ€œI was just kidding! I wanted to annoy you.โ€ He scowled as I began to laugh again, pointing a finger in my face.

โ€œYou better be! I'm not into you like that, and the last thing I need is some teenage girl thinking I'm the hottest guy around!โ€ I rocked from side to side as I calmed down again.

โ€œYeah, says the guy who's a literal man child!โ€

โ€œThat has nothing to do with this conversation!โ€ Tomura pushed me farther in my bed as he got up to leave. After shutting the door as quietly as he could, I was finally able to sleep in peace.

Despite the promise of no punishment, there was no guarantee for anything else in my future. I would probably experience the scenarios that I had been trained for in the future, and I don't think I'd be able to deal with it.

So I dismissed the thought and dozed off peacefully.

One year laterโ€ฆ

Despite the fact that I wasn't punished for running away, I still feel the urge to not try what I did again. Da Da did tell me not to cause anymore trouble with his followers, but they probably don't want to deal with a teenage girl any time of the day anyways. I've been trying my best to stay out of trouble, and I only ever go out to get more books or actual food, but even then, I try to keep close to the villains. I don't want any of the villains, or my father, to have an excuse to keep me locked away at home.

I've been training more, and I recently gained two new quirks: Telekinesis and super strength. They were pretty hard to learn, but with my father's guidance, he showed me how to tune into them. I'm supposed to receive more in a couple of weeks, but I'm content with the ones I have now. It feels like I'm juggling way too much at once.

Despite my consistency of not getting in trouble, Tomura has been distancing himself from me. When I do talk to him, he's always talking about how Da Da has given him some responsibilities to deal with, but that's as much as I'll get out of him. He's either gaming or with my father. I don't know how to feelโ€ฆ

But since I've had nothing to do but training and occasionally going out, I've been living in a fantasy world thanks to my books. If I didn't have these books, I probably wouldn't have any understanding of the outside world. I know it's not all happy-go-lucky like it is with most of my stories, but reading them gives me a greater insight on how actual people operate, and how everyone has different personalities.

I'm, unfortunately, running low on my book supply once again, so I ask Kurogiri if I can go to the bookstore.

โ€œI need to go get more books from the city again. Am I allowed to leave with a villain?โ€ Kurogiri gives me the same blank expression as he ponders on my request. Before, I would've nervously played with my fingers and shift my feet until I was confirmed to leave, but now I just sit patiently in front of the portal man until I receive a response. Eventually, Kurogiri gives me a nod.

โ€œYes, you can. You will leave with Oxy-Man. He will be waiting for you by the exit.โ€ I give a grateful nod back, making my way to the door. I am stopped when Kurogiri says one last thing.

โ€œMake sure not to cause trouble for anyone else, please.โ€ I look back and sigh.

โ€œKurogiri, you say that every time I go out these days. The thought hasn't even crossed my mind!โ€ I receive another expressionless face.

โ€œ... Until nowโ€ฆโ€ He turns back to his work as I think about what he said. I did cause a lot of trouble for everyone that day, but I've proven that I won't do it again.

But I also see their perspectives. If I had the guts to run away the first time, there's no doubt that I'd do it again. Even then, they could easily find me and take me back to the base. It's not like I'm completely free to do whatever I want.

I gather the necessary items I need before I leave. I have enough money to buy some more books, but I make more money just in case I need it. I shuffle out the door and give my thanks to Kurogiri.

My villain bodyguard waits for me outside the door as I walk out and we give each other a nod as we head towards the shopping center. I want to go to an actual book store so I'm able to copy more and more books and find more variety.

As we make our way there, I look over to see Oxy-Man right next to me, staring ahead. After I had pulled the โ€œrun awayโ€ stunt, I've always been worried that the villains would be more aggressive whenever I was around. I didn't want to have to deal with more roadblocks in my life.

But nothing has really changed ever since I tried to leave. The villains treat me the same, except for Victor, who still holds a small grudge against me. In fact, most of them are easier to be around when we're not being constantly watched by my Da Da.

I focus my attention back on the store signs, looking for a bookstore. Oxy-Man hasn't said much of anything to me ever since we left, so I don't expect him to say anything until now.

โ€œThere are multiple bookstores in this area. Which one would you prefer to go to?โ€ My body involuntarily shivers as I look back at the villain. When I don't respond immediately, he starts pointing out the stores he sees. I point at the last store he pointed to, and the villain quickly walks across the street, pulling me along. I allow myself to be pulled to the store, hoping that we stay out of the base for longer.

โ€”

We walk into the store and I am overwhelmed by the amount of books there are. On one hand, there are a lot of books. Enough to keep me occupied for months. But on the other hand, there's no way that I could actually copy all of these books without feeling a little guilty.

I grabbed at least 5 books off the bookshelf and cradled them in my arms. I carefully put them down on a nearby table, picking one of the books and pretending to examine it. I glanced at a page and then looked up to the huge bookshelf and let my eyes wander. My mind felt like it was going to explodeโ€ฆ

Oxy-Man tapped his foot in a steady beat, unlike Victor did the last time he took me out. I looked back to see the villain scanning the store and everyone around us. I muttered a quick โ€œsorryโ€, causing him to look back at me with his full attention.

โ€œSorry? For what?โ€ I shrugged, gesturing to the books around me.

โ€œSorry for keeping you here for so long. I just don't wanna get in trouble with the staff for memorizing the books.โ€ He shook his head, giving me a serious look.

โ€œYou're not bothering. I'm here to keep ya safe. Take as much time as you need.โ€ I gave a grateful smile before continuing at the task at hand. He nods back.

I turn back to the books and continue memorizing the words as quickly as possible. I subconsciously delete uninteresting or useless memories of books I've read before as I add more copies to my brain. I keep all of the info in my memory until I feel like I can't hold anymore. I finally turn away from the books, only to grab the ones I set on the table. I carry the books once more and head off to look at a couple of knick knacks that had caught my eye, only to have my bodyguard pull me back. I turned to him in surprise .

โ€œLet me carry those books, yeah? Don't want you getting tired before you get to go home.โ€ I nod in appreciation, quickly passing the books into his arms before he could protest. I head back to the knick knacks as I feel Oxy-Man following right behind me.

I picked up a small sculpture of a brown bear holding a blue covered book in one paw, while adjusting its glasses with the other. I let out a small laugh as I examine it closer โ€“ memorizing every little useless detail. I see that there are words, although tiny, written in the blue covered book. I manage to successfully read the words and repeat them under my breath.

โ€˜Donโ€™t try. Do! You don't need to hesitate if you're making the right decision!โ€™

There are more words underneath, but they only read real life warnings that no one would expect to be in a fake book that a sculpted bear was carrying around. It read, โ€˜No smoking. No drinking. No drugs. And most importantly, you should stay in school!โ€™

I finally set the bear down and looked around to see Oxy-Man leaning towards me, muttering something under his breath.

โ€œI'm gonna look at some books myself. You know what not to do.โ€ I gave a small smile, watching him walk off from his previous position. I continued to look at the cute library sculptures until I couldn't stand to look at them anymore. I walked off to another area to find magazines and lots of reading and writing supplies. Pencils, pens, reading glasses, and more were propped up on wall hooks not far off from the magazines.

I shuffled over to the bright and colorful paper thin magazines, looking at all of the distracting covers. Things like, โ€˜All Might saves another round of civilians after a massive assault took place!โ€™ appear in large and bold print, making it almost apparent that I wouldn't be interested in reading the contents. I skim through the pages of different articles and such when all of a sudden, I feel a strong hand on my arm, causing me to drop the magazine back on the rack.

I turn to find the familiar eyes of the stranger I met in the park.

My old man begrudgingly told me to take a day off from training, only because he was going to be busy working for the whole day. I still remember him saying, โ€˜... Don't leave the house for ANY reason. I will be back to train you tomorrow.'

So, with that being said, I convinced Fuyumi to take me with her to the store.

I expected her to say no, considering how much she follows our father's rules, but she was more than thrilled to pull me along to shop with her. Even though I'm not close with any of my siblings, it felt rather nice to have my sister be so willingly compliant to my request. I envy days like this. Days where I have a rushing feeling in my stomach because of how nice I feel. There are embarrassingly hot knots in my stomach that make me feel normal, for once.

My sister makes her way out of the house quickly while I trail behind her. I try to suppress the abnormal feeling of normalcy in my gut, but it's hard to focus when I'm thinking about too many things. I keep my eyes on my sister's feet to feel like I have some sort of control, but I walk like a confused duckling right behind her. Fuyumi finally speaks.

โ€œHey Sho, are you okay?โ€ She slows herself to a stop and turns to put a cold hand on my forehead. I subconsciously shake under her touch, but her eyes and hand never leave my head.

โ€œYou've been acting all weird ever since I said you could come with me. Are you sick all of a sudden? Do I need to take you back home?โ€ She whispers to me as if it's a secret meant to be kept between us. I shake my head, pulling away from her hand and her fiery gaze. I look at her and give a nonchalant shrug, only because my insides have managed to cool down. Fuyumi gives me a shrug back and turns to continue her stride to the store. I walk beside her, trying to determine if her shrug was supposed to be a mockery of me or not.

We continue to walk confidently to the shopping center. I silently gawk at all of the store signs, seeing how bright and colorful most of the designs are. Only a few stand out while the rest appear more modern, but I didn't mind. This felt like a nice change of pace, and I don't feel any guilt at all for asking Fuyumi to go out with her. I can see why that girl must've been so overwhelmed after running to the park.

That girlโ€ฆ Why am I thinking about her? Now of all times?

That strange girl that I met a year ago at the park. I've only thought about her a few times since then, but every time I do, I'm full of guilt. I shouldn't blame myself for what happened, but I could've helped.

It doesn't matter. I should be thinking about what we're going to get from the store. I don't even remember why Fuyumi wanted to go to the store. Was it for groceries? For snacks? Did she just want to get more clothes? Whatever it is, my mind can't seem to remember.

Thankfully, the world answers my questions, because Fuyumi gently pulls me by the wrist and leads us into a bookstore.

I follow along and take a quick look at all of the shelves full of books. Many of the books look plain, while others stand out with their popping book covers. I look back to my sister and find that she's looking through the pages of one of the plain looking books. I stand beside her and steal a glance at the words on the page. I don't get a chance to read it before Fuyumi closes the book and puts it back on the shelf. She pulls the book beside it from the wall and looks at the pages once more. She gets to the third book before she finally glances up at me.

โ€œOh, Sho, you can go look around if you wanna. I'll come find you when I'm ready to leave.โ€ She smiles before waving a hand at me to leave. I nod, turning towards another section of the bookstore. I don't know what I'm looking for, but it was clear that my sister wanted to find her books in peace, so I will find something to do.

As I wander the store, I hear quiet conversation. I listen in, but I don't pay attention to the voices.

โ€œ...For what?โ€

โ€œSorry for keeping you here for so long. I just don't wanna get in trouble with the staff for memorizing the books.โ€

Memorizing the books? Does that person have a memorization quirk? Why would they get in trouble for that?

There are questions in my mind, but I don't hear anything else come from the people previously talking. I continued to wander the store and find myself in a comic book section. I was never really allowed to have books like this, even when my mom was still at home. As soon as I had a quirk, I was forced to train for hours everyday, and nothing was to distract me from it.

I pick up a random comic, flipping through the pages randomly. I land on a page with the recognizable number one hero, All Might, on the page. He stands over a beaten up villain in triumph, fists on his hips as he says, โ€œYou're going to jail for a long time!โ€ I shake my head and close the book and slip it back where I found it. I normally would have indulged in an All Might book of any kind, but I did not want to spend all of my time in one place. I wanted to take this all in. Who knows when I'd be able to come back here and justโ€ฆ wander?

Certainly not anytime soon.

I stepped away from the comic books and let my legs lead me to another area. The section I stopped in was quite simple. A singular magazine rack with all sorts of writing supplies hung up on wall racks stood in front of me. I surprisingly found it calming. It was nothing special, but it didn't have to be. I picked up a magazine and bold print reading, โ€˜All Might saves another round of civilians after a massive assault took place!โ€™

I put the magazine down, glancing around the building, taking it all in. I moved away from the magazines to look at the supplies on the wall racks. I reach for a small and uninteresting item, examining every detail of it. It's just a case of pens. They have a blue cap with a clear body, showing the ink tube inside of it. I put the pen back, attempting to find anything more interesting than this. Suddenly, my body seems to move on its own when I hear a small noise coming from the magazine rack.

I look to see a girl, but she looks familiar. She feels familiar. She has long, black hair that reaches to the back of her knees, black shorts, a black tank top, and black combat boots. Her clothes were all black โ€“ too black. I couldn't help but move closer to her, and in doing so, I instinctively reached out to her. I grabbed her arm suddenly and she drops the magazine that she was holding back onto the rack. She looks at me with the same curiosity as me, only for her eyes to flicker with familiarity.

The girl looks shocked before her face appears excited. She smiles at me the exact same as she did when I met her at the park. My lips twitch to make some sort of movement, but I keep my face still, trying to assess the situation. I don't know why I grabbed this girl so suddenly, but she doesn't seem to mind my presence. Before long, she decides to speak first.

โ€œHello stranger. How've you been?โ€ A smile stays on her face as she looks at me in curiosity. I shrug my shoulders, not feeling up to unload all of the thoughts in my head onto this complete stranger.

A stranger I met a year ago, but a stranger, nonetheless.

The smile wipes away from her face as she has a moment of thought. I wait for her to continue talking, but she remains quiet. I manage to speak through her silence.

โ€œWhat's your name?โ€ I ask quietly before another question slips through my lips.

โ€œWhy are you here?โ€ She glares at me as if I offended her, which I probably did. Despite this, she whispers back.

โ€œKira. I'm here because I'm getting more booksโ€ฆ like the last time we met.โ€ She looks around quickly before leaning in. โ€œI'm with another bodyguard.โ€

I nod, pulling us into the comic book section I was in before. It isn't exactly the most hidden place in the store, but it also isn't the most obvious spot to be in. I don't know why I'm doing this, or why I'm even wasting my time talking to a girl that I once found annoying. Maybe the guilt is taking over my actions, because I don't think I'd do this in any other timeline of events. The girl, Kira, stares at me with the same confusion I feel, but she doesn't run away. We both relax.

โ€œI never thought that we'd see each other againโ€ฆ especially at the same store.โ€ Kira whispers as she looks through the colorful covers of comic books. I pretend to look at the covers as well, trying not to draw attention to us both. I give her a curt nod, trying not to appear affected by her amused voice. Despite her skittish attitude the last time we met, she doesn't seem too concerned about being caught talking to me. Maybe things got better at home? Maybe she's just really good at controlling her emotions? Does it matter?

I turn to her and lean in to whisper to her.

โ€œI did not expect to see you so carelessly free at a bookstore. Are you not concerned about being dragged home once more?โ€ Kira looks up at me with a blank expression, but I can see a hint of frustration in her eyes.

โ€œIs that meant to be an insult, a threat, or do you not realize the connotation your words carry?โ€ I shake my head in confusion, trying to comprehend if I said something wrong. I realize why she feels frustrated now.

โ€œI didn't mean to insult you. I shouldn't have used those words. My apologies.โ€ She shakes her head, giving me the beaming smile from before.

โ€œYou're good. I just didn't think you'd use suchโ€ฆ strong language.โ€ She looks up from the comic covers and turns her head to me. โ€œBut then again, I don't really know what to expect from you. You're still a stranger.โ€

โ€œYou're a stranger, too.โ€ I say matter of factly. She sighs, correcting herself.

โ€œFine. We're both strangers. Point is, I'm not used to talking to people I don't know. I'm quite sheltered, if you couldn't figure it out.โ€ I frown at her, trying my best not to fall for her teasing. She smiles back at me before we hear a voice approaching our area.

โ€œKira, I'm ready to leave if you are.โ€ The voice is not nearby, but we both hear it come closer. We freeze. As the man's voice quiets, we hear another voice from another direction.

โ€œShoto, we're gonna leave now, unless you wanna get anything from here.โ€ I pause as I hear Fuyumiโ€™s voice, and I see Kira's eyes light up at the mention of my name.

All of a sudden, I drag Kira back to the supplies section and rip a tiny piece of paper from a random notebook paper, grabbing a pen from the wall rack and scribbling something down. I hastily write a message on the paper before shoving it in the girl's hands. She opens her mouth to speak, but I shake my head and pick up the notebook and pen. I quickly mumble a warning to Kira before anything else can happen.

โ€œPut that in your pocket. Don't read it until you get home.โ€ She nods and folds the paper into her pocket.

I walk towards the direction I heard my sisterโ€™s voice in, trying to act as if I didn't just make a promise that I probably wouldn't be able to keep. Fuyumi looks up from a small bear sculpting with glasses and a book in its paws, staring me down like I'm guilty of something.

โ€œWhat took you so long? Were you in another part of the store? I could've sworn I saw you in the comic book section last.โ€ I nodded and pointed her attention to the items in my hands. She stared at me with surprise, but shook it off with a small smile on her face.

โ€œOh, you got some things? I'll pay for it, don't worry.โ€ She takes my items and we make our way to the checkout. As soon as Fuyumi pays for our things, I grab our stuff and head for the door in a hurry. My sister follows behind, already out of breath.

โ€œJeez, you're in a hurry to leave. You wanna get out of here ASAP, don't you?โ€ I give her a shrug once more, looking over my shoulder to see her give an exaggerated shrug of her own.

Yes, she was definitely mocking me earlier.

Oxy-Man takes me back to the base as soon as we're done shopping at the bookstore, and I wasn't the only one that came away with something in my arms. He bought himself two small, cover-less novels, telling me that he'd finally have something interesting to do while he was away from the base. I gave him a small smile, hoping that I didn't give away any of the emotions that were racing through my chest.

We eventually made it home, and I quickly went to my room, avoiding anyone that attempted to make conversation with me. That probably made me look as suspicious as I feel, but I can't wait to read this note any longer. The boy, Shoto, told me to put the note he gave me in my pocket, and I was willing to get caught reading it because of my impatience.

But I didn't. And now I can read it.

I open the once folded paper โ€“ it's crumpled now โ€“ and read the words slowly.

โ€˜Meet me back at the shopping center in 2 days. Make up an excuse, or something. I need to give you something.โ€™

I read the note again, and again, and a million times more and my mind still managed to feel lost. What is so important that he has to meet me back in two days? Aren't we supposed to be strangers? He didn't even tell me his name. I had to hear another person say his name before he even thought to tell me.

I folded the note and grabbed a small cup of water. I could feel the energy leaving my body as I created a lighter. I hovered the piece of paper over the water and set it on fire, letting it burn between my fingers enough for it to fall into the water. I put my burnt fingers in the cold water, exhaling a pained breath. I saw pieces of the paper float up to the top of the cup as I walked it to the bathroom. I poured the water down the toilet, flushing away any evidence of the paper.

I walked back to my room as if I had done nothing wrong, and I sat uneasily on my bed. I slid onto the floor and just sat there, lost in my mind. A lot has happened today, and I don't know if I can handle going back and experiencing it all again in two days. Maybe I was just stressed in general. Maybe, somewhere inside my brain, I'm telling myself not to do this because it's stupid.

Maybe I shouldn't go.

I hear a hesitant knock on my door, and I look over to see that Tomura is standing there, watching me spiral. I must've left the door open because I don't recall hearing Tomura open the door. He shuts the door and walks into the room, gesturing to the spot beside me. I nod and he slides onto the floor next to me.

We don't say anything for a long time. I hear his breathing and he probably hears mine, but we don't say anything. We just sit in silence until one of us decides to speak.

I move my foot and I subconsciously bump Tomura's foot with it. He finally looks in my direction and bumps my foot back, eventually leaning on his hands against my bed. He speaks into the silence.

โ€œYou wanna talk? You look like you're gonna explodeโ€ฆ in a bad way.โ€ I hit his arm as he quietly laughs at my reaction.

โ€œExploding is bad in any way!โ€ He shakes his head and looks back at me with a serious expression. I frown, but he gestures for me to say something.

โ€œItโ€™s nothing, really. I'm just stressed out. Maybe I'm not sleeping enough.โ€ He continues to frown. I don't want to lie to him, but if I told him what I was going to do in two days, I'd be dead meat. He'd most definitely tattle tell on me to Da Da, and I'd rather not get into any more trouble than I have this year.

He sighs. We're back to square one again.

The silence in the room is overbearing, and I don't know how long I can go before I tell all I know. I try not to let the room close in on me, but my body feels the same trapped feeling that it did when I ran away for the first time. I knew how it felt to be locked away once I was free, but this feels ten times worse. And as the room seems to get smaller and smaller, the silence consumes meโ€ฆ

But then Tomura speaks.

โ€œI know that I haven't been talking to you much, but I've been busy with someโ€ฆ stuff.โ€ He says calmly. I know he's referring to the work he's been doing with Da Da for a while, so I just nod my head. He scoots closer to me and continues to speak.

โ€œI can't really tell you what weโ€™re- I mean, what I'm going to do, but it's going to be huge. And before you ask, Sensei doesn't want you to get involved just yet.โ€ He leans closer and whispers into my ear. โ€œHe has something big planned for you.โ€

I scoot away from him as dread fills my gut. Whatever All For One has planned for me, I don't want to be involved in it. It's one thing to be raised as a villain, but it's another thing to actually commit a full scale crime. Making fake money and copying a bunch of books are small things that I've grown numb to doing, but I don't think I could everโ€ฆ kill anyone.

Tomura's face returns to a frown before I can fix my composure. I can't change anything thatโ€™s already been planned for me โ€“ and he knows that โ€“ but I can certainly change the way I react to the plan. And because of my reaction, I've somehow pushed away the only person I was close to in this stupid, suffocating base.

The older boyโ€™s face goes completely blank as he stands up to leave. He looks to me before opening the door.

โ€œI know you've always had thisโ€ฆ strange desire to leave this home behind. But I never thought you'd actually choose that over being here.โ€ Tomura huffs in frustration, looking away from me once again.

โ€œY'know, the benefit of being here is that you have me. I have you. You're the only person I'm actually close to, and you're kind of killing it right now.โ€ He opens the door and walks out, ignoring my raised hand reaching towards him. When the door clicks shut, I feel my hand ball into a fist and my vision is blurry. Tears land on my legs as I curl up into a ball of nothingness. I can't help but feel bad even if Tomura is screwed up in the head. He feels like I'm betraying him, and in a way, I am.

It doesn't seem to matter that he's been ignoring me for the last couple of months. What matters is that I thought about escaping โ€“ that I thought about being free.

I swatted at the tears running down my face and made myself lay across my bed. I feel like I just ran a marathon, but my eyes won't stay closed. Maybe it's the unresolved, one-sided argument that's keeping my mind awake. Or maybe I just can't stop thinking in general.

I sigh, scanning through my memories to find one of my favorite books, The Goldfish Monarchy. This book was one of the very first ones I've read, and I've kept it in my memories ever since. It's a small novel that doesn't seem serious until you actually read it. Still, it is a rather silly book to read.

I close my eyes and flip through every page in my head, rereading the same lines over and over. I am able to breathe again. My hands aren't balled up with fear, and my muscles aren't tense anymore. I feel myself drag a little slower in my reading until I stop completely, and let myself go to sleep.

For the first time in forever, I sleep as if I have nothing to worry about.

All of my worries go awayโ€ฆ

โ€“

I finally wake up, rubbing my eyes and begrudgingly check the windows to see what time of day it is. Against my will, my eyes widen as I am met with a bright light. I sit up fully, taking in a deep breath and trying to figure out if my mind is playing tricks on me. I glance out the window again and I still see a bright light pouring into my room.

I gasp and immediately jump out of bed, grabbing my boots in a hurry. Once I have them on, I don't even bother to tie them before I'm running out of my bedroom in a panic. I pass by Tomura's room with ease, not even letting my mind process my dilemma with him. I blast through the area as Kurogiri portals himself into the room.

He sees me running towards the door in a panic and somehow stops me in my tracks. I turn to him and see that he stared back at me with the same blank expression he always has. We both don't look away from each other until I remember why I was running. I try to make my way to All For One's room, but my feet stay stuck to the ground. I turn to him once again and he finally accesses the situation.

โ€œWhat are you running for, Kira? Are you trying to escape again?โ€ I shake my head in a hurry, trying to explain myself. All that comes out of my mouth are incoherent and shaky words that even I don't understand. But somehow, he manages to understand.

โ€œAre you worried that you will receive a punishment for being late to your training?โ€ I nod, giving up on trying to make a coherent sentence. He hums in acknowledgement.

โ€œWell, you have quite the luck streak. All For One has given you a break from your training today.โ€ I tilt my head in confusion. Why would he suddenly do that? Is today opposite day? Am I dreaming? Maybe a nightmare?

Kurogiri gives me an answer almost immediately.

โ€œYoung Tomura has begged All For One to let you rest, and he has granted you a day's rest. You are free to go back to your room.โ€ I blink in confusion as Kurogiri says this all with ease. I huff through my nose and shake my head in frustration. Before I walk back to my room, I give the portal man a โ€œthanksโ€. He gives me a curt nod before taking up another task that'll keep him busy.

I don't know what's wrong with Tomura. He makes me feel like an outlaw one minute, then he's secretly begging my father to be lenient with me the next minute. I really don't know how to feel other than grateful for the chance to sleep more.

I walk into my room and immediately start cleaning everything. I should take advantage of today because I may never get a chance like this again.

I pile my books anywhere that isn't under my bed and I organize them in neat stacks. I clean off my bed and remove the blankets that Iโ€™ve kept since I learned how to create things with my quirk. I spend my energy on making new, clean, comfortable blankets and pillows for my bed while I clear out the old ones.

As I finished organizing my entire room, I finally realized how tired I actually was. Despite getting almost 12 hours (or more) of sleep, I still felt the heaviness of my eyelids every time I blinked. I used the last bit of my energy to make myself an appropriate set of nightclothes, which I hadn't done since I was younger, and I changed. Even though my father would constantly send someone to buy new clothes to fit Tomura and his needs, he would often neglect the fact that I needed clothes as well. I always had to make my own things. I was quite content with doing these things by myself, until I found a book sitting next to The Doctor's desk. That's when I realized that the one thing I couldn't create on my own demandโ€ฆ was books.

I found a reason to leave the base. And even though All For One wasn't willing to teach me things like reading or writing, or even how to speak, I was able to learn. With the help of Tomura, I was able to read, write, and create more books. And I was able to convince my father to let me leave the base to read more books. I started understanding how the real world worked, and I created money and learned how to not act weird in public.

But I'm still not the best at that, even.

I crawl into my bed, feeling like a new and fresh teenager. If I could, I would stay in my bed all day until I got bored to death. That's how comfortable I felt. For the first time in years, I fell asleep, not feeling like a horrible and guilty person for wanting something that I couldn't have.

Freedom.

And if that boy from the park could give me any sort of freedom, I was willing to take it.

Anything for freedom.

Pursuing Happiness

Pairing: Suga x Reader

Genre: Fluff, Slight Angst, Very Slow Burn, Somewhat Tragedy,ย  Romance

Word Count: 20k

Summary: You move into your new apartment, and the first thing your neighbor asks you is to be her sonโ€™s first friend.

image

You and your parents just moved to a two-bedroom apartment complex just around the outskirts of the city. The three of you previously lived in the suburbs to raise you in a peaceful and safe environment, but unfortunately, right before the end of your junior year in high school, your father lost his job. Unable to pay bills in the area you three lived in, you and your parents had no choice but to move to a cheaper area, meaning you left everything you had back in your old town and start all over again. Of course, you were distraught about the idea of moving, but if it meant to make your parentsโ€™ lives easier, then youโ€™d rather move than cause more troubles for your them.

Your parents had left with the landowner to finish up some paperwork and learn about the rules regarding the apartment, leaving you completely alone in the apartment. Since you have free time to yourself, you decide to finish unpacking the rest of the boxes while you wait for your parents to return. You unpack the various boxes in your bedroom, positioning all of the knick-knacks that youโ€™ve received and bought on your desk and shelves, such as snow globes, figurines, and accessories.

With each item you take out from the box, you reminisce about the town that you formerly lived in. You remember the sunglasses you wore when you went to the beach with your friends, and because you stayed out all day, you got a sunglasses tan. Or that teddy bear your friend bought for you on your fourteenth birthday. You smile painfully as these recollections stock up in your mind. All those times youโ€™ve spent with your friends became nothing more than memories the moment you and your parents left.

๐™๐™๐™š ๐™‚๐™ค๐™ก๐™™๐™š๐™ฃ ๐™๐™ค๐™จ๐™š

Prologue:

Tywin Lannister hated his dwarf son. Despised him. Every time his calculating green eyes landed on his twisted half-man son, it reminded him of what he lost. His precious wife, gone, to give life to the creature before him. He took her life, and here he is, breathing, instead of cold and lifeless. The gods had cursed him from the moment Joanna found out she was with child again. The moment seed had given her a child. After the birth of the twins, Master Creylen advised Tywin and Joanna not to have another child. Which was fine, because he got what he wanted. An heir, and a daughter to marry off to Aerysโ€™s son, Rheagar. A Lannister, his daughter, would sit on the throne as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. He had everything he wanted, his perfect children, his loving wife, his long-time friend, and King, and the Relm was prospering. Until it wasnโ€™t.

He lost everything in a day and was left with a creature he wasnโ€™t sure that came from his loins. A hideous son, whom no one wanted to marry, who was Lord Tywinโ€™s bane. His second son, Tyrion Lannister.

The old lion narrowed his gaze at his son, who was speaking in hushed tones with his younger brother, Gerion Lannister, ignoring his sisterโ€™s continuous babble. Tywin watched as Tyrion laughed and made jests with Gerion, smiling as if heโ€™d done nothing wrong. His half-man son waddled along, enjoying his time with his uncle as they walked through Joannaโ€™s garden. Tywinโ€™s fists clenched together, his forehead crinkled as his brows furrowed together as he watched with displeasure. Sixteen years itโ€™s been. Sixteen years since Tywin Lannister ever cracked a smile.

โ€œTywin? Brother?โ€ A hand rested on his leather-clad shoulder, drawing his attention away from his son and brother. Genna stood next to him, her golden hair piled in an intricate design with pearls dangling in locks. Her face was all made up with various powders and a lip stain. Her dress was Lannister red, and around her neck sat a golden lion head nestled between her breasts. Genna reminded Tywin of their mother, Jeyne. She shared their motherโ€™s shade of green eyes and motherโ€™s shapely figure. She was beautiful and cunning. She was a Lannister. Yet she was married to a pathetic Frey.

โ€œTywin, did you hear me?โ€ she asked, a smile playing at the corner of her lips. Tywin simply stared at her, wondering what heโ€™d missed. โ€œOf course you didnโ€™t,โ€ she chuckled before sighing. โ€œI said, dear brother, I think we should hold a ball.โ€ A smile spread across her face. While the Old Lion simply raised a brow at her statement. โ€œA ball,โ€ he repeated. Genna nodded her head. โ€œWhy would we need to throw a ball?โ€ His voice rumbled in his chest, and if Genna wasnโ€™t his sister, he wouldโ€™ve growled.

โ€œFor Tyrion, of course. Heโ€™s sixteen. Itโ€™s time to find him a suitable wife and future Lady of Casterly Rock.โ€ Tywin narrowed his eyes, irritatedly. โ€œDo you not think Iโ€™ve tried to find him a wife? Lord Tully denied my proposal, as did Lord Royce and Lord Hightower, and I just received Ser Colin Florentโ€™s raven.โ€ Tywin picked up the letter lying on his desk. โ€œโ€˜I regret to inform you my Lord Lannister, my daughter Delena has been promised to marry Ser Hosman Norcross,โ€™ Even the oaf Florent wonโ€™t marry his whore of a daughter to Tyrion.โ€ He threw the letter onto the desk and sat down, leaning forward and lacing his hands together as he raises a brow at Genna. โ€œSo, you still believe someone will marry him?โ€ Genna sighed and shook her head at her older brother. โ€œTyrion is capable of finding a wife. We simply need to introduce him to eligible ladies.โ€

โ€œSo weโ€™ll prance him around as if he was my daughter? Shall I have a tailor make him a gown as well?โ€ Sarcasm dripped in his voice, and Genna glared at her brother. โ€œTyrion is your son โ€”โ€

โ€œNo, he is not!!โ€ Tywin slammed his fist down against the desk. He glared at Genna, fury swimming in his green eyes, his lip curling in a snarl. Genna glared back at him, challenging his stare. This was the same argument theyโ€™ve had over the last thirteen years, and every time Tywinโ€™s fury matched a starving lion. His fangs were out, snarling, and his claws were ready to tear through her body. The first time they argued about Tyrion, Tywin stopped talking to Genna for an entire year. It was a miserable year for Genna. Losing her brother temporary was the worst feeling in the world.

โ€œTywin.โ€ she reached her hand over the desk to place it on his fist, but he jerked away. โ€œDonโ€™t you wish to make an alliance to benefit House Lannister?โ€ He stood up and stomped off to Joannaโ€™s portrait. He stood in front of the painted version of his wife, staring at her beautiful green eyes and rich golden hair that shone in the sun. โ€œJamie is sworn to the damned Kingsguard. Cersei is Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Who else can make a proper marriage alliance for House Lannister?โ€ Tywin shook his head and clenched his fists at his side. โ€œTyrion is the only answer. He is the only one who can help our House.โ€

Gennaโ€™s voice became soft somewhere in the middle of her persuasion, and she knew she had her big brothers when Tywin let out a sound of frustration before turning and running a hand down his face.

โ€œSo be it.โ€ The smile that left Genna could only resemble a lioness who was ready to kill her next meal.

Prompt #2

There is not NEARLY enough Rapunzel AU fanfics. I'm thinking of mighty witcher Geralt coming across a lone, tall, moss, ivy, and lavender covered tower out in the woods, and being surprised to find a young man imprisoned there. I love the idea that instead of paintings like Disney's Rapunzel used to fill up her time and tower, that instead he sings and makes songs, so there's like.. Lyrics and sheet music scribbled onto the walls.

โ™ก!Optional addons!โ™ก โ€ข Geralt is tracking down an evil infamous mage, of whom turns out to be the captor of this gorgeous musician he found

โ€ข Jaskier has blonde hair until it's cut like in Tangled, to call back to his Dandelion roots (hah.. Roots... Like hair... and dandelions..) โ€ข We could go the Disney's Tangled route and have there be a lost Prince Julian that Jaskier just so happens to resemble (and secretly is)

โ€ข Perhaps Jaskier is physically bound there by magic or chains, Or perhaps he's there out of nothing more than guilt, shame, and/or fear toward the person keeping him there โ€ข Perhaps Jaskier is a painter in this universe, and above all, wants to see real buttercups, dandelions, etc, out in the wild, for they don't grow near his tower, and the best he can get is his own paintings of their descriptions in books.

โ€ข Maybe if we feel more adventurous, Jaskier could be part harpy, kept in a mage's tower in a birdcage, kept for his magical hair activated by his magical singing (Ooh, this gives me more bird jaskier ideas.. You might see those soon)

โ€ข Or perhaps, after Blaviken, a witcher is sealed away in a tower, only for some dumbass (affectionate) struggling bard to stroll across and think it a perfect shelter from the oncoming rain.

Prompt 73

Geralt, as a deity, gets many an offering. However, he's known for slaying creatures and monsters and (through what is mostly rumors) Humans, so all his offerings reflect this. Blades, and blood, and dead things, and money and hide in exchange for safety of their families and villages. He's intrigued when he starts getting regular offerings in the form of... Handwritten, meaningful, sincerely admiring songs recounting his 'adventures' and his 'hardest battles', all of which are made up. Geralt sees no harm in perhaps telling the human some real stories to make some accurate songs. No harm at all. Apparently there was some harm. As the rest of his "followers" have grown jealous of Jaskier (the human with the song offerings) - So jealous in fact, they've decided to try offering Jaskier himself to Geralt.

Prompt 86

In a modern world, Geralt houses Roach in a public stable. They treat her well when he's out, she enjoys it. It's all good. Until the stables call him one day to tell him Roach is acting weird. He's already racing back to his beloved horse when they call back to let him know it's because she's missing her boyfriend. Huh? Her what? Apparently she's been really attached to this stallion named "Pegasus" recently. Really? His baby girl is in love with a 'Pegasus'? Geralt is minutes away from tearing his hair out. A week later, Geralt is getting her out of her stall, when he glances over and sees Pegasus. He can tell it's Pegasus by the way Roach is acting, but also because of the ridiculous tack he's wearing. All bright colors and special embroideries and fucking sequins. He doesn't know what he expected from the person who owns Pegasus. He was tied between a preteen girl and a woman too old to still ride. When he bumps into a man dressed in an outrageously yellow outfit, with rainbow nail polish, and stupidly cute hair, he admits he was a little shocked. Not by it being a man in a horrific outfit, nonono, by the man in a horrific outfit being attractive. "Oh! Are you the owner of Roach? I hear they're great friends!" Fuck. He and his daughter have the same type in men.

Coffee Shop

a/n: My first one-shot on here!! I'm excited for this :)) Please do give any feedback, it would be much appreciated! I love to read y'alls thoughts. Also remember yall, the reblog button is right next to the like! Not proof read, all mistakes are mine. Requests are open!! Love you guys ๐Ÿฅฐ

Pairing: Coffee Shop!Harry x Y/N (oh and Niall makes an appearance)

Warnings: fluff- just two idiots in love, drinking, tiny bit of swearing (Italics mark as flashbacks)

Summary: Harry works at the coffee shop, and Y/N's a regular customer.

Word Count: a little over 2.4k

Coffee Shop

โ€œIced Americano for Lydia!โ€

The coffee shop was bustling with energy- there was always a person occupying every single seat, and the noises of the coffee machines and staff always added to the liveliness of this shop. The dings of the door opening and closing indicated a new person entering, and the orders being taken place were just another ingredient to the mix.

Deja Brew, as they had named it, was the busiest and most known coffee shop within the city. People would come in here for the morning runs before work, they would simply sit at a table while typing away at their computer, or they would be here with friends. Everyone loved this tiny area- all the things about it screamed home.

What Harry loved most about it, however, was one specific customer- mocha and blueberry muffin girl. He had developed a little crush only a while agoโ€ฆ but he had been seeing her ever since he had started working here.

โ€œHey, how may I help you?โ€ Another one of his coworkers took her order. Aiden was in the back during his break time. He was looking down at her phone as he had nothing better to do.

โ€œHi! Iโ€™d like a mocha and a blueberry muffin please,โ€ she said. Harry looked up to see the most beautiful person he had ever seen to date. She already had her card out and was ready to pay.

โ€œWill that be all?โ€ She smiled up at his coworker, the small wrinkles by the side of her light brown eyes showing.

โ€œYes, please.โ€

He thought he would never see her again. He thought he would get over that โ€œlove at first sightโ€. What he didn't know was she was a regular. Ever since then, he observed that she always ordered the same thing off the menu. Every. Single. Day.

Only a few days after taking her order, Harry had gotten her mocha and blueberry muffin ready before she came into the shop. He wanted her to pay and leave so she wouldn't have to wait to continue her day. All of this but he didn't even know her name.

People had crushes on others without knowing their names, right? He wasn't crazy, right?

It did bother Harry a little bit, but that was okay. He got to see her everyday, and that was enough. And it wasn't like she was ever going to notice him anyways.

He was broken from his daydream when his coworker, Niall tapped Harry on his shoulder.

โ€œWondering when your lover will walk through the door?โ€ Niall teased him.

โ€œOh for fuck's sake, Niall. She's not my โ€˜loverโ€™,โ€ Harry sighed and checked his watch for the fifth time. โ€˜She should be here any momentโ€™, he thought. He had her order packed fresh and ready.

โ€œHaha, biggest joke of the year. Iโ€™ve seen the way you admire her. If you aren't gonna make a move, I might just make one,โ€ Niall rolled his eyes. Harry could tell Niall was only joking. He wouldn't do that to his friendโ€ฆ hopefully not.

โ€œHey,โ€ Harry dragged out. โ€œDon't you dare.โ€ Just like any other day, she walked into the shop at the same time as before. He quickly shooed Niall away as he laughed, and Harry grabbed the blueberry muffin and mocha and made his way to her. This would be the day he would finally give her the order.

โ€œHi, blueberry muffin and mocha?โ€ Harry asked her even though he already knew the answer. She looked as pretty as ever, and his crush was only growing.

โ€œOh, yes,โ€ her voice was sweet and light. That made Harry wonder even more what she would be like if he got to know her.

โ€œYour name?โ€ he asked. To be honest, he didn't even need her name. Her order was sitting on the side counter. All he had to do was pick it up and hand it to her. But he wanted to know for the sake of not feeling weird of having a middle school crush on her and not knowing her name.

โ€œY/N,โ€ she said while digging something out from her purse. Y/N. A name as soft and beautiful as the person shown outside. He found himself staring at her, and as soon as she looked up, they locked eyes. Now it felt like eternity for Harry, but it was only a few seconds that they held their stare. Y/N broke it by offering him a smile, only for him to swoon all over it mentally.

โ€œAlright, your total will be $6.30.โ€ She quickly paid, said thanks, and left. A short conversation but a worthy one nonetheless. He finally got to know her name after two weeks of crushing on her. Niall came up to Harry and stood behind him, trying to find where Harry was staring off to.

โ€œOh lord. Now what happened?โ€ Niall asked.

โ€œY/N,โ€ Harry breathed out. โ€œThat's her name.โ€

โ€œOh wow, you know her name now. Good for you,โ€ Niall said. Harry just rolled his eyes and continued to work, with Y/N in his mind for the rest of the day.

Coffee Shop

It had been a few weeks since Y/N had told Harry her nameโ€ฆ and their โ€œrelationshipโ€ had gotten better. When she came into the shop everyday, she always waved to him on her way in or out.

And he smiled and waved back.

In those few weeks, that crush had developed into something more, since he got to see her everyday. He wanted to be able to hang out with her, take her on dates, and just talk to her about life. But he didn't want her to think that he was creepy or a stalker- definitely not a stalker.

It was around 7 in the evening, and Y/N was seated in a dimly lit corner booth with someone. โ€˜Why was she here so late?โ€™ he thought. The guy she was with was wearing a white knit sweater and glasses, and his black hair was styled in a quiff. He was talking to Y/N but she was looking around the shop. The guy was quite engrossed in his story- Harry could tell by the way he was moving his handsโ€ฆ he was also the only person talking.

Y/N was sipping her coffee and nodding her head every once in a while, but Harry could tell she wasn't really paying attention. She set her coffee down on the table and fiddled with her rings. Meanwhile, the guy moved closer to her while she moved farther away. She was already at the very edge of the seat.

Suddenly the guy's phone rang. He walked out of the booth, immediately picked up the phone, and started talking.

โ€œYes, mum. Iโ€™ll be there,โ€ he replied to the phone. He quickly said something to her and walked through the door of the shop. Y/N sighed and made her way to the counter to pay for whatever the guy and she ordered.

โ€œYou ok?โ€ Harry asked. She looked tired and ready to go home. โ€œLooks like he just walked out on you.โ€

โ€œOh yeah, he's a treat,โ€ she said sarcastically. โ€œApparently his mother called him. Good thing he left because I couldn't stand a minute more of him. โ€ Both of them shared a laugh, but then Harry asked the question that was on his mind the entire night.

โ€œSo is he yourโ€ฆโ€ He didn't want to finish that so he wouldn't be assuming anything. The last thing he wanted to do was offend Y/N.

โ€œOh no, he was just a guy I met off of an online dating site. Not really sure how I matched up with him though, all he talked about was the movie series that he's obsessed with.โ€

โ€œSounds pretty boring to me. โ€

โ€œTrust me, that's an understatement. Even if I were to get with himโ€ฆ Iโ€™d just rather not.โ€

โ€œSo then? Who would you like?โ€ Harry wondered. Heโ€™d wanted to know for a long time. He was hoping for something along the lines of him, but he knew that was a long shot. He always kept hoping for something that was out of reach for him. He had a tendency to do that.

โ€œI don't know, maybe someone nice and simple? I want our relationship to be a two way street, and not like how this so-called โ€˜dateโ€™ went. Again, Iโ€™m not really sure how I got set up with him,โ€ she rolled her eyes. Harry noticed how she also used her hands while talking to express herself.

โ€œI can imagine. Once I got matched with someone and when we were out, she had this guy on her arm the entire time. They even started making out in front of me while we were having coffee,โ€ Harry shuddered at the memory. Thatโ€™s one reason why he will never go on Tinder dates again.

โ€œOh my god,โ€ she laughed. He could never get tired of that laugh. โ€œThat must've been so awkward. Third-wheeling the entire time.โ€

โ€œOh, yeah. Iโ€™m pretty sure that was her ex and got back with him.โ€

Y/N gasped at the fact, โ€œSeriously?โ€ Harry nodded his head while she raised her eyebrows and shook her head. โ€œOh wow. People are so extraordinary.โ€

Y/N was a living example of that. Harry could listen to her all the time and still kiss the ground she walked on. Only having known her for not a long time, he couldn't wait to get to know more about her.

Changing the topic of dating, she asked, โ€œWanna go somewhere to drink? Itโ€™s a Friday.โ€ She looked at him with hopeful eyes, and he knew that she wanted a distraction from her shitty night. Drinking isnโ€™t all that fun alone. So he had no other option to agree. He had no right to decline an offer from Y/N herself.

It was around midnight, and the two of them had had one too many glasses of alcohol to drink. They were sitting in a booth in the corner of a random bar they found down the street, and the music playing on the T.V. added a livelihood to the place. They had done a couple shots. Then some lighter drinks to continue the night. Neither of them wanted this night to end.

Y/N was sipping on her pink drink that Harry didn't know the name of, and he himself settled for a beer. They were both all giggly, and the cuddly side of Y/N came out halfway through the night. Her head rested on his shoulder, and his head was on her head. She had completely let go and Harry was glad to see her like this, dating and work definitely was a hassle. He knew from experience.

Y/N had told Harry a lot of stuff about her life, from her childhood embarrassments to her graduating.

โ€œI was jumping on the bouncy house, when my mouth got stuck on the side net. My tooth fell out! I couldn't find it, so all the people around the bouncy house started looking for it with me.โ€

Harry, on the contrary, had let her speak. Sure, he pitched in with a few of his stories from time to time, but he wanted her to enjoy it. He also wanted to hear her voice more.

He watched her fingers as they fiddled with her rings and how she gasped in between her stories when she remembered another. Call him smitten, but it was something Harry enjoyed and found comfort in. Had he mentioned that he could do this all day?

Suddenly Y/N sat up with attention and sat her drink down on the table. She turned her body to face him and started, โ€œYou know why I come into your coffee shop everyday?โ€ She didn't even let him answer. โ€œItโ€™s to see someoneโ€ฆ and do you know who that is? It's you! It was my first time coming into the shop when I first saw you. But then I knew that I had to see you more,โ€ she said.

Harry was too stunned to speak. She came everyday to see him? She was spilling secrets that Harry wasn't sure she was aware of. Although, she wasnโ€™t drunk, but also not not tipsy.

She grabbed his face in her hands and squeezed his cheeks together. โ€œYouโ€™re so cute, Harry. Your eyes are to die for.โ€

โ€œOh- thank you. You aren't so bad yourself, Y/N.โ€

โ€œSo tell meโ€ฆ are you dating anyone? Any girlfriend? Boyfriend?โ€ She lets her hands drop from his cheeks and back to her side.

โ€œNot yet. But I mean, the spotโ€™s always open if you ever wanna fill it in.โ€ She let out a loud giggle and responded back almost immediately.

โ€œIโ€™ll sleep on it, get back to you tomorrow morning.โ€ Her smile was brighter than the shining moon, and her cheeks were strawberry red. It was a sight to behold. He took out his phone and open the camera. He took a quick picture.

โ€œWhat was that for?โ€ Y/N asked.

โ€œJust a photo to remember the beautiful person in front of me.โ€

โ€œOh please, Harry. Youโ€™re too much,โ€ she said. She stood up and dragged them both in front of their booth.

โ€œDance with me,โ€ she whispered to him.

She put her hand on his shoulders, and his on her waist. They slowly swayed in their spots to the soft music in the background, and they held eye contact for some time.

The pink neon light from the window sign was lighting up Y/Nโ€™s face, and that made her look even more adorable.

How was it possible for someone to be this gorgeous?

Y/N leaned in to rest her forehead on Harryโ€™s and their noses softly rubbed against each other. Her lopsided smile was still quite big, and Harry had the same on his face.

It felt like eternity to him when they leaned in, and neither of them knew who did it first. Her lips were placed onto his in a matter of seconds. It was a soft and cute kiss, but it was enough for Harry. Her lips felt like heaven.

They pulled away and Y/N giggled. Harry stole another kiss, and then gave a tiny peck to her nose.

โ€œI donโ€™t think Iโ€™ll ever get tired of kissing you, darling.โ€

She ducked her face into his neck, where she placed another light kiss.

โ€œTake me home, Harry. You can kiss me all you want there.โ€

Supportive best friend

Supportive Best Friend
Supportive Best Friend
Supportive Best Friend

A/N: I love the way Steve and Robin interact with each other and how supportive Steve is of her and I need that in my life so thatโ€™s why I made this.

Steve Harrington x reader (platonic)

Headcannon: Reader is LGBTQ+ and best friends with Steve

Warning: some cursing/ mentions of fighting/ mentions of unwanted outing

How you meet:

- you werenโ€™t exactly friends in high school but you knew one another cause you were in the same year

- one day you two had to do a biology project together in which you had to collect some stuff in the woods (lichen or sth idk) and document it

- and you both were skeptical at first only knowing rumors about each other

How you became friends:

- while you were doing the project you got to talk a little and had actually quite some fun making photos of plants and shit

- the next time you meet at his place to write down the required information for the project

- as you did so you ordered pizza (cause who doesnโ€™t like pizza?) and got to talk some more

- afterwards you both realized that you got quite comfortable with each other, being able to talk and laugh about basically everything

- the both of you started meeting up a lot more and he became your save haven, a person who you could share everything with and you too became is favorite person to spend his time with

- you got so comfortable with him that you decided to reveal your secret to him โ€œNot that it is important or anything, but I think you should know and I also trust you so I wanna share this with you, Iโ€™m (insert sexuality)โ€ you were definitely really nervous

- but no need to worry Steve got you, he probably asked some questions to understand better what you mean by it but over all 10/10 reaction

- โ€œIt doesnโ€™t matter to me, your just the same as before. But thanks for trusting me.โ€ He genuinely didnโ€™t care who you liked he kind of has this โ€˜love is loveโ€™ and โ€˜you do youโ€™ mentality

Meeting the others:

- being Steveโ€™s best friend means meeting the party and his other friends

- they loved you and thought you were super cool

- you easily became friends with them (especially Max idk why but the bickering between her and Steve is way to funny to miss)

- being friends with them meant you got involved in the whole โ€˜up side downโ€™ and monster shit which first was overwhelming but if you overlook the dangers itโ€™s quite fun

- Steve always tries to protect you (even if you donโ€™t want or needed it)

- that contains him always staying by your side, keeping an eye on you and trying to make you stay out of conflicts

- like he would jump in front of you and would kill for you (without thinking) if it meant keeping you save

If you had a problem (example getting outet):

- he would also protect you like that if your secret would get published

- Steve would punch everyone who looked at you wrong or was talking shit about you immediately

- he would definitely be threatening people and getting into fist fights

- but apart from that he would also be there for you of course

- heโ€™d listen to all your worryโ€™s and would let you cry on his shoulder or rant the whole night agreeing to everything your saying

- he 100% would buy you food and take you out for movies (or watch them at his place if you wanted to stay in)

- if youโ€™d get kicked out heโ€™d without a doubt let you stay at his place for as long as you needed

- over all I think it got clear that he would be an amazing 100/10 best friend hahha

School was my least favorite place to be at the moment. Ever since me and Billy Hargrove broke up, everything seemed to go by slower than usual.

I now missed how during lessons Billy would always find a way to leave his class and visit me in mine, whether it be just standing in the doorway, or telling the teacher that I was needed somewhere else.

I just wanted to know when our relationship started to turn bitter, when our conversations would always turn into fights, and our dates would end in one of us leaving the other.

I glanced at the door, hoping that he would be there, that there was a chance for us to make things right with each other.

Hope sparked in my chest when I met a pair of brown eyes in the doorway, he came back! A small smile formed on my lips but quickly fell into a frown after seeing who it was.

Steve Harrington

He stood by the door awkwardly, a small smile pulled up on his face as he looked at me. My brows furrowed, why would he be here? I looked around trying to see if he were here for someone else in the class.

Ah, of course. My eyes now looked at the back of Nancy Wheeler's head. He was here for her.

A slight chuckle escaped my lips, I felt bad for the lovesick boy. It was clear as day that he was still in love with her, and that he never fully grasped the fact that they were no longer together.

I looked back at Steve, only to find that his eyes were still on me? My eyebrows pulled together, 'why are you here?' I mouthed to him, hoping he could understand what I was asking.

He looked confused for a second before replying 'I need to talk to you.'

I contemplated what he said for a moment, should I even bother? I looked at Nancy, who sat in front of me, wondering if it had something to do with her.

I was thinking of saying no, but my curiosity got the best of me, 'okay.' his brows lifted a little before he gave me a small thumbs up and left.

 Steve Harrington X F!reader

After what seemed like forever the bell rang, luckily it was my lunch period now, so I wouldn't have to make an excuse for the teacher as to why I would have missed class.

I packed all my notes and papers in my bag before I zipped it up and swung it over one shoulder. I made my way through the maze of students and desks till I was finally out of the door.

I looked around for Steve but he was nowhere to be found, and the only problem was; he didn't give me a place to meet him.

I looked around once more, until I shrugged and started to walk to the lunch room. but before I got the chance I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I looked over my shoulder, the first thing I saw were his light brown curls and usual denim jacket. I wanted to ask him what happened to us, I had so many questions for him. But I decided against it, knowing I probably wouldn't like the answer.

"So, you though Harrington would be the best way to get over me." A smirk played on his lips, but his eyes showed otherwise, they looked filled with... regret? Or even anger?

I swallowed, "what do you mean Billy? I barely even talk to him."

He inhaled a sharp breath before speaking once more, "then why was he outside of your class? Why was he doing exactly what I used to do?"

I pulled my eyebrows together, looking down. I didn't know what to say, I could try to tell him that we weren't doing anything, but I knew that he would think I'm lying.

"Hey-" His hand grabbed my chin and made me look at him, his touch was soft, gentle. "Look at me when I talk to you." His voice was just as comforting as his touch.

I felt like melting, "Billy, it wasn't at all what it looked like. He just said he wanted to talk after class." I looked away once more, my chest hurt, I just wanted things to go back to the way they were. I didn't want Steve- I wanted him. I wanted him back

We both stayed quiet for a while, the only sounds came from the students surrounding us in the hallway, reminding me that we weren't alone. I looked up, but this time I didn't look at Billy I looked at the students around us.

Many people looked at us as they passed, suddenly making me feel like all eyes were on us. I quickly took a step away from Billy, not wanting people to look at us any longer.

For a second it felt like Billy's heart had been shot with an arrow, an arrow that they'd shot. The only reason he saw Steve standing outside of your classroom was because he was there to do the same thing, he was hoping that he could pull you out of class like he used to do, and finally talk to you.

Billy wanted you back. And if Steve was going to be in his way, then he needed to know.

"Sorry, but I've gotta go." You walked away from Billy before he got the chance to reply. He turned around, watching you leave, just as he had the day he decided to break things off with you.

 Steve Harrington X F!reader

When I walked away from Billy I didn't know what to do. I knew that he wanted me to stay away from Steve (even though he hadn't actually said it) but I wanted to know what Steve wanted to talk to me about.

I decided on walking down to the cafeteria to get a drink before my next class, as I walked down the staircase I saw Steve leaning against the wall at the bottom.

Steve looked up once he heard someone coming down the stairs, hoping it was Y/N. And to his surprise it was.

"I was wondering if you would actually show up." He scratched the back of his neck, not knowing how to start the conversation.

"I ran into an old friend in the hall, we talked for a bit." Y/N's answer was short and blunt, only making this more difficult for Steve.

"Cool, cool. So, uh- I have a favor to ask you?" He said, he was obviously nervous about what he was asking for.

"you have a favor to ask? Or you have a favor to ask." I was messing with him. He was silent for a moment, trying to understand what she just said, "look I'm just messing with you. What do you need?"

He let out a breathy laugh before deciding to finally get to the point, "So before I start I just wanna say that you can say no to this, I get it if you think it's weird-" He was rambling, so I decided to try and hurry him up, "just get to the point."

"Will you go out with me?"

I froze. Wasn't he just dating Nancy? Doesn't he know I just recently broke up with Billy?

I must've clearly looked confused and concerned because Steve spoke up once more, "I mean like, fake date? I get that it sounds weird, but it would benefit both of us."

"How exactly would this help either of us" I was incredibly skeptical of this idea, he must have had some sort of ulterior motive, right?

"Well I know you and Billy broke up a while ago, and me and Nance recently did to. So I was thinking we could act like we got together and try to make them jealous." I only blinked in response.

"Wouldn't this only make things worse? I mean Billy hates you, so he would only hate me for getting with you because he knows that I know that he hates you. You know?" Now I was the one rambling, but it was only because I didn't quite know how to respond to him, he wasn't joking when he said this was a weird favor.

"I mean there's only one way to find out." He simply shrugged his shoulders to my question.

I was about to answer, but a student suddenly came charging down the staircase. I moved out of he way, "excuse you!" I shouted after the boy.

"Maybe we should talk about this after school so we have less, interruptions." Steve suggested, I was silent for a moment wondering if this was a good idea.

"Alright, but we're going somewhere where we won't be seen by people from school, okay?"

He smiled as he spoke, "deal."

The chilly wind nipped at my face as I walked towards the empty park, we'd both agreed that this was a good spot to talk considering it was the middle of winter and no one would want to be outside in the cold.

I looked around for a bench that I could sit on while I waited, but I spotted something better, the swing-set. I smiled before I walked over a took a seat on one of the swings, the metal chains holding the swing were cold to the touch as I held on and gently swung back and fourth.

"Having fun?" I looked towards the voice, it was Steve.

"Yeah, didn't you know winter is the best time to come to the playground, because then you don't have to wait." I grinned at the boy. He smiled in response.

"Well, we should get down to business." He spoke as he took a seat on the swing next to mine.

"First off if were going to do this, I need you to agree to one thing."

"Sure, what is it?"

"This ends the second one of us says so, it doesn't matter if it worked or not, if either of us want an out then it over." I spoke, giving him no room to argue.

"Alright, anything else?" He asked.

"That's all for me, do you have anything?"

"Nope, if that's it then I think we're ready to start the mission." He smiled, did he really not have anything to add?

"Okay, but we need to make it believable, we can't just announce we're dating it'll seem too out of the blue."

"Right, well what if we go somewhere where we'll be seen together, then we can let the rumors and such take it from there?" That wasn't a half bad plan, but the only downside was the risk of the wrong idea being spread.

But whats life without a little risk?

"Okay, and how about you give me rides to and from school?" I suggested, knowing this one would mainly benefit me.

"Why? Because you don't have a personal driver anymore?" He was talking about Billy.

"Yup. You cool with that?"

"Works for me."

It became quiet, but it wasn't a weird quiet, it was comfortable. The only sounds surrounding us were the squeaking on the swing chains and the birds in the trees.

Maybe I could get used to this.

 Steve Harrington X F!reader

"So, what's our story gonna be?" Steve asked before he took a sip of his coffee.

After our meet up in the park we decided it was a good idea to start ass soon as possible, so we came to one of the more popular cafe's in Hawkins.

"What do you mean 'story'?"

"I mean, how did we start talking? Who asked who out, you know, the basics." He stated as if he was used to this.

"Uh, I don't know. How about you decide since you seem to be familiar with this kind of stuff." I joked, Steve stiffened.

A small chuckle left my lips at his nervousness.

"Well how about this; after Nance broke up with me, you saw that I wasn't handling it too well and decided to help me through it, considering you were in a similar situation recently with Billy. One thing led to another, I asked you out, and we start dating." He made that entire story up surprisingly fast, especially considering I out him on the spot.

"Wow, have you been thinking out this for a while?" I laughed at the brunette.

He smiled, "Well it's better to be prepared than risk getting caught," I almost didn't catch what he was saying because I was looking at his smile. It was such a genuine smile, it had caught me off guard.

I stared at him for a moment before catching myself, I couldn't be doing this, I wanted Billy, and Steve wanted Nancy. We could never work, especially if we were in a real relationship.

"Well Harrington, we'll stick to your story, and see where everything goes from there." I gave him a small smile, "I have to go, I gotta catch up on some work for Chemistry."

"Oh, why don't I drive you home." He quickly stood up.

"I'd like that, especially considering it'd be a 4 mile walk to my house."

I grabbed my bag and opened it up, digging for my wallet to pay for the bill. But just as I had found it, Steve was walking up to the register with a 10$ bill in hand.

"Steve-," I started but was interrupted when the woman took his money, simply handing him the change and receipt once she was done.

I stood still for a moment before putting my wallet back in the bag, and walked over to stand by Steve, "You know you didn't have to pay right?"

"Well it's the right thing to do considering you are my girlfriend." He grinned at me before holding the glass door open for me, I rolled my eyes before walking out to the car.

He stuck the key in the car door, unlocking his door than mine. I quickly opened the door, wanting to get out of the cold as soon as possible.

"What's your address?" Steve asked me as he buckled his seat belt and re-adjusted his rear view mirror.

"436 Cornwallis Street." Steve stopped what he was doing and looked at me, "what?" I simply asked, as I buckled my seat belt.

"No way, we live on the same street? And I never noticed you?" He asked, clearly shocked by the new information.

"Yeah?" I furrowed my eyes, it's not like this was a big deal.

"What a small world." He mumbled to himself as he started the car.

The drive was quiet, the one sound was the soft roar of the car engine, and the car radio.

 Steve Harrington X F!reader

BEEP BEEP BEEP

I groaned, as I slowly opened my eyes to turn my alarm off and get ready for the long day ahead of me.

I first ventured to the bathroom, brushing my teeth and hair before I returned to my room and picked out a pair of jeans and a warm sweater.

"Y/N, there's a boy here for you!" My mother shouted from the kitchen.

A boy? who would bet here this early in the-. I stopped my thought before I could finish. Steve. Of course, how could I forget the deal that I made with his this fast.

I grabbed the backpack and swung it over one shoulder as I walked down the stairs. I was greeted with my mom sitting at the kitchen table chatting with Steve over a cup of coffee.

I coughed, grabbing their attention.

Steve looked over and smiled as he set his coffee on the table, "Hey babe, you look good today."

My body tensed up as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder, he must've noticed this because he turned it into a quick hug rather than holding onto to me for a while.

"Thanks."

Steve furrowed his eyebrows, confused as to why she was acting like this when just yesterday everything seemed fine.

"Y/N, are you going to introduce me to this young man?" My mother asked, leaving me no room to say no.

"This is Steve, my boyfriend." She gave us a bright smile.

"How come I'm only hearing about him now? Oh I have a few questions." I cut he off before she could ask of of them.

"Well we have to get to school, I'll see you later?"

"Sorry hun, I have a late shift, but I'll see you tomorrow," she hugged me and kissed my forehead, "I love you hun, be safe."

I nudged Steve's arm and started to walk out of the door, not waiting to see if he was behind me.

"Hey are you okay? He asked me as he unlocked his door, then mine.

I opened the car door and got in, "Yeah I'm fine. But we should get going before we're late." I added in, hoping to change the topic

"Y/N, what's up with you? You were fine with this yesterday, now your acting all freaked out." He ignored my comment, continuing to push fro an answer.

I sighed, "Steve, we're not actually together so you don't need to know every detail in my life, okay?"

His face fell as he looked at me, I swear I saw hurt flash in his eyes for a moment, but just as soon as it came, it was gone. I turned my head towards the window, hoping that he would finally give up.

He did.

The rest of the car ride was quiet, this time it was am awkward quiet unlike last time at the park.

When finally got to school Steve parked in his usual spot, but neither of us made any attempt to get out of the car.

"So, are you sure you wanna actually do this?" Steve asked, genuinely wondering if she had decided to back out of their deal.

"Yeah, Let's just make sure it's believable, especially for Billy, he has a sense of knowing when I'm lying." I cracked a small smile hoping to lighten the conversation.

He smiled back, "Of course." but something was off, his eyes told a different story, but I decided it was best to just leave it alone.

2 WEEKS LATER - HAWKINS HIGH SCHOOL

As we walked though the hallways, Steve's arm around my shoulders, I heard whispers of our names. But there was only one person that I cared about at the moment, and I was looking right at him.

Billy.

He was leaning against the lockers, talking to Tommy and Carol. I've never particularly liked either of them because for the way they treated others, including their friends.

Their conversation suddenly stopped when Carol's eyes found mine and a big grin pulled onto her face.

"Well well Y/N, you seem to be the only person people have been talking about recently, well, you and Steve." Her voice was loud as she spoke, attracting the attentions of students in the hallway.

"Carol, stop." My voice was low, I truly didn't want to deal with her at the moment, especially when Billy was less then 5 feet away.

"Why?" She taunted me, but then she saw where I was looking, "Oh, well about that."

"Carol-" Steve attempted to get her to stop, but it was useless considering they only seemed to worship Billy now.

"Still not over Billy Y/N? Oh, who am I kidding, you probably don't care, especially with you being the slut you are."

"Carol, what the hell is wrong with you-" Steve started defending me but his voice was drowned out by the students who now surrounding us and whispering to each other.

My body felt cold, what am I supposed to do in this situation? Run? Fight? Or maybe, just stay quiet and walk away.

I looked at Billy, hoping to find an answer, hoping he would help me find a way out.

He had remained in the same spot that he was in when we first walked in, but his fists were clenched, and his jaw looked tight. I just wanted him to come over and pull me into his arms, to hold me tight and hide me from the world.

I was pulled back to a semblance of reality by Steve, he had one hand on my shoulder as he stood in front of me. His face was so close to mine as he spoke to me in a soft voice.

"Hey, let's go. The longer you stay here the worse it gets, trust me." His eyes held sadness, I wasn't sure if it was for me or himself though.

I let him gently guide me through the hallways, and thousands of thoughts were running through my head as Steve held on to my arm and looked for a place where we could get away from the people around us.

I was snapped back in to reality by someone lightly shaking my shoulder. Looking over, I saw Steve, "Are you okay..?" He seemed nervous when he asked the question.

We were in an empty classroom. The teacher must've had lunch this period.

"I'm fine, though I'm a little aggravated because you 'little plan', isn't working. If anything it's making things worse." I was angry.

I was angry at Steve, Carol, Tommy, hell even Billy.

None of this would be happening if he would have just talked to me, but instead of trying to fix us, he destroyed us.

Steve brows furrowed, "You can't pin all of this on me. You agreed to this too." He pointed at me, making sure he point would get through.

"Right, of course. God forbid that the great king Steve does anything wrong." I scoffed and looked away from the boy.

"We're not talking about me. We're talking about you because I can tell that there's something going one, you just need to talk to me." His voice was filled with what seemed like... desperation?

"Of course there's something wrong Steve! I lost the only person that ever gave a fuck about me, and now I have to pretend I'm in love with you to get him back! But it's only making things worse, and I'm never going to get him back." My voice had turned in to sobs the more I talked.

Tears slowly fell down my face at the thought of Billy. I missed the way his arms felt like home, or the way he brought color to my dull world.

Steve's heart broke a little as he watched the girl in front of him fall apart. All he wanted to do was pull her in to his arms, make all of her pain go away. But he knew there was only one person who could help her, and that wasn't him.

For now he would have to watch and hope that as time went on she would forget Billy, and start to look at him. She would see that he was waiting for her with open arms, and he would go to any lengths for her.

But until the time came he'd wait for her, no matter how long it may take.

"Y/N, he's not the only person that cares about you." His voice was gentle, soothing almost.

"He is. So don't talk about me as if you know anything about me, because before this week we never even spoke to each other." I wiped my eyes as I spoke.

He didn't reply, he merely looked down at his feet. I felt bad for him now that I thought about what I've said to him. Even though this was strictly a deal meant to benefit the both of us, he still looked out for me.

Neither of us spoke.

"I think... maybe... it's time for us to end this." Steve's eyes shot up to meet mine.

"Hold on- Y/N think about what you're saying right now." His voice was rushed, as if he thought that if he didn't talk now, then he wouldn't have another chance to.

"I'm sorry Steve, this just isn't working. It's only making things worse between me and Billy, and I haven't seen you talk to Nancy in weeks."

Yeah, but-" He tried to defend his case, but I interrupted him before he got the chance.

"I said no Steve." I looked at him one last time before walking out the the classroom.
