"You would never make me cry." Harper didn't see bad in people like that. Everyone was good in their own way and Hyunwoo was someone she liked spending time with because it always made her happy. Whether she be ignorant to the rest of the world or not.
"I'll bring you ice cream after I go to work." She'd already spent too much time on her lunch break with him and would have to go back soon. "Can you walk me to the agency building?" she asked, her hands already out again to ask for more of the snack he shared with her.
it was amusing how harper always acted like she was the younger, even when in reality it was hyunwoo but he found it cute so all he could do was just smile and watch her act away, even chuckling a little. ❛ i have to be nice, i don't want to make you cry. ❜ teasing her, he raises his thick dark brows at her once, only to be pinched by the cheek ; which caused him to whine out and make a face. ❛ you better, especially after pinching me ! ❜ this time, it was him acting like a child.
starter call for pre established relationships (romantic/friends/enemies) bc that would be cool
and yes if you have a preference please drop it below or IM me I'm happy to accommodate!
Amara sighed out happily when she saw him call. Words almost burst out, making sure he was ok, checking in on his day, assuring him that he never needed permission to call because she'd always want to hear his voice. All questions stuck on the tip of her tongue, letting him vent out the frustrations of his own day and feeling her heart tugging knowing he'd have to work through the night.
"I feel better already," she said in to the line, smiling like a fool against the phone like he could see her. Amara wished they were in his home, tangled up together and talking about their day, enjoying each others company because even something so mundane brought her happiness. "No...I'm not hungry. Thank you."
Despite his own busy schedule, knowing that he was still checking in to make sure she was cared for made Amara choke up. She covered it with a cough. Sky knew about how difficult it was for her growing up neglected and caring for her sister; she didn't know how to felt for someone to take care of her. The only love she had was from her sister she kept blissfully unaware of their parents neglect and abuse -- but Sky still made sure she was loved.
"Sky," she whispered, emotion filling her voice when she thought back on her day. "I --" There was so much she wished she could tell him. Working for the gang didn't bother her, but she worried how it would affect him. "I can't work at my job anymore. I just can't -- I'm sorry. I don't mean to dump this on you now, you're already working so hard. Can you just...promise me that everything will work out?"
Fingers lingered, hovering above the phone screen, waiting, ready to type out a reply. But he looked off to the side, eyeing the veritable mountain of papers he'd have to sort through to get this whole thing sorted out. And instead of texting a reply, after heaving a soft sigh, Sky pressed the little phone-shaped icon on screen instead.
"Hey..." He breathed out with a soft smile, leaning forward against his desk, the weight of the incoming night's work forcing his head to hang just a little.. And in spite of it all? He still felt himself smile.
"Sorry I... I should've asked if it was a good time to call I just.." Rosy lips pressed into a line, brows knitting a little as his head shook. "It's been a long day, gonna be an even longer night. Dad said some parts of this mess were taken care of, whatever that means but we still have stacks of papers to work though and.. Corny as it sounds, I think I needed to hear your voice to actually feel a little better."
Back straightening a little, Sky stood, smoothing out his suit with his free hand before using it to start sorting through papers. "Did you have an alright day? Are you hungry? I know you said you were about to head to bed but I can send something over still if you want?"
"If you're looking for freedom and you think a motorcycle will give it to you, then someone's making you feel stuck, Hyunwoo." Ari guessed it was his family. In a way, she pitied him; she was in a similar situation, expected to take over the family business, only she wanted to. She'd never outright asked him before, but had a feeling he didn't and would avoid taking the responsibility for as long as he could.
Ari reached over and patted him on his arm. Just a solid touch. Something to assure him that she'd be there regardless of what he chose. "I'll be there," she promised.
hyunwoo feels like he was punched in the gut hearing those words. did he not fit a motorcycle ? why so ? he wanted to ask but only furrows his brows as looking at the river. ❛ but i have heard so many things about feeling the freedom and air when you ride a motorcycle. ❜ he argues back but leaves it at that, not knowing the real reason behind ari's words. listening to her, all he could do is chuckle out, she was right ; rich people tend to be interesting. ❛ those are absolutely boring but i get what you mean, they are … always bragging about what they have, like it's a competition which or who has the most money and things they own, there is one event coming though. might as well join me and keep me company. ❜
Kimi rolled her eyes, though her face was directed down at the papers so she didn't know if Junji saw her reaction to his words or not. "What are you talking about? We're getting fucked right now," she said, gesturing to the endless work surrounding them that was taking over her night. But he had a point -- she deserved a day off and spend it with someone, so she needed to get it done and quickly.
She helped direct him on what to do and how to do it, working efficiently despite how tired she looked. The food he brought seemed to help.
"Whether or not you see it, we both have lives. Problem is that work is our life, so we don't have anything else to add to it. I don't do much in the way of sleeping anymore. Dinners are whatever you bring me," she admitted with a shrug, attention going back to her work.
Dedicated to their work, they both are, even if, sadly, neither has received the recognition they deserved. That’s how it goes in big corporations, after all. Along with the 7/11 konbini he bought for her, there are a few drinks. “Come on, you say that, but if I swing by tomorrow, I know you’re going to pull the same stunt. I’ve caught on by now,” he says, his tone light. He gets it. Balancing work and a personal life in their world feels almost impossible. He gives her a soft smile. “Also, I’ve seen dead people in my dreams who looked more alive than you do right now. If we finish all this, you can take tomorrow off, yeah?” Though he’s a journalist and not in data, he helps where he can, taking on the small, easier tasks, much like an assistant would, while she handles the biggest part of the work. Cracking open a can, he surveys the mess of papers. “So, what can I do? Proofread and archiving like the other time? This pile?” he asks, already reaching for the folder on top. He stays, sipping his drink, helping her out as she eats and works—nothing new to them. Flipping through a file, he chats with her between sips. “Ever thought about what our lives would be like if we actually had one?” His tone is cynical, but there's a faint smile as he stays focused on the papers. “What do people even do when they don't work? Go back to their significant other? Have dinner together with them? Watch TV? Fuck? Fall asleep in their bed?”
