For all those like me who had no one teach them how to take notes when you read the text, let me give you some tips that I’ve figured out.

Keep a notepad handy. Yes, an actual notepad and pen, pencil, marker, crayon, whatever is fun to write with. I use fountain pens solely for writing because it’s fun. This is important. As you read the text, write all of your snarky thoughts, commentary, ‘this is nonsensical,’ write it down.

Meanwhile, in your textbook, have several different color highlighters. Use one for IMPORTANT things, the major ideas. Use another color for subclauses of the IMPORTANT things. Use another for subclauses of those. Use another color for interesting things.

Get another notepad. Go back over the text and write down what you highlighted. Use your own words, but don’t be afraid to use word for word the textbook. This is so you remember. When you take notes, put the IMPORTANT things down first, then on a new line and offset from those, the next set of highlighted information.

Scream into a pillow because nothing makes sense anymore.

Search for videos to explain things and pray it’s not so obscure that no one knows what the thing you’re talking about is.

Search for anything that might be helpful, a coloring book, a 3D model you put together, someone’s studyblr.

When crunch time hits, search YouTube for the study songs you know someone has put out there.

But that would be so good for the Glaive though! They get into debates about it, does the King really value them that much? This would be a really good fit for your original FFVX time travel fic, especially when Regis goes ballistic over someone skimming the Glaive budget and putting in stupid restrictions on the use of healing items. The debate rages on, egged on by troll!Noctis.

Someone drunk pondering if Bahamut’s claim on the LC’s means that they have dragon tendencies. Less drunk but not sober people start brainstorming that the retinues are an LCs hoard. The enabler of a bartender says it *must* be the glaive, why else would you share your magic? A tabloid writer runs with it as a joke. Regis is mysteriously deaf when asked. Noctis, the little shit, very seriously says yes the one time he’s point blank asked. Are the royals trolls or dragons in human skin?
