Mermay 2021 #18 - Original

I'm a little late, but please enjoy my contribution of one adventurous lass that I doodled on a napkin a year ago.

As the oldest of four siblings, I sympathize greatly with the plight of the tiger in the pool.

If there was ever the chance that I might not watch The Chosen like I've been planning to, that line just ambushed it in a dark alley and beat it up with a stick.

Today’s installment of “Aslan lines that knocked the wind out of me”:

Holy shoot, I LOVE the other lion!  

This lion, who has no other canonical name beyond “the other lion” is my all-time favorite obscure character EVER and he only appears in two scenes in the entire book series.  Even though I understand that it would have interrupted the flow of the movie, I’m a little disappointed he didn’t make more of an appearance in the movie. 

Look at this precious dork.  Look at this excited bean who is so darn hyped to included with Aslan in the words “Us Lions” he straight up forgets to be even remotely useful.  

Can I just squeal for a minute about one the most utterly delightful and criminally underrated characters in this entire series?

The other lion. Just. THe Other Lion. I love this guy so much.

“…Those who are good with their noses must come in the front with us lions to smell out where the battle is. Look lively and sort yourselves,” [said Aslan].

And with a great deal of bustle and cheering they did. The most pleased of the lot was the other lion who kept running about everywhere pretending to be very busy but really in order to say to everyone he met, ‘Did you hear what he said? Us Lions. That means him and me. Us Lions. That’s what I like about Aslan. No side, no stand-off-ishness. Us Lions. That meant him and me.’ At least he went on saying this till Aslan had loaded him up with three dwarfs, one dryad, two rabbits, and a hedgehog. That steadied him a bit.”

Just. What a mood, honestly. Both in terms of the utter lack of helpfulness and the sheer enthusiasm about Aslan.

On Today’s Episode of “Weirdest Complements . . .”

My younger brother told me (very sincerely and with all the love in his heart) that I have a very “slappable forehead.”

Okay, but also, like … 

Bodhi’s favorite color would probably have been be red, because he had a red circuit on his chest, and he was a little too passionate and outspoken for his own good … he’d have made a good Firebender. 

And Mara likes yellow; she’s optimistic, springy, and lighthearted, but she’s also prone to rushing off to try to join the Renegade to bring freedom to the Grid, so she seems like an Airbender. 

And Beck would be a Waterbender because the entire reason he got started on becoming the Renagade was out of anger at Bodhi’s death.  He cares about the Grid, his city, and the Programs that live there, that’s why he wants to free it so badly.  He’s adaptable and a fast learner.  And his circuits are blue.  

Zed is stubborn and deeply rooted in what he believes.  He sticks to his guns.  Everything he builds has green circuits.  He’s a solid Earthbender. 

This analysis was based upon Uncle Iroh’s description of the Four Nations in the episode “Bitter Work.”

what do you think everyone’s favorite colors would be?

This is gonna be a bit out of order but I’m writing them down as I think of them.

Mara’s favorite is yellow. (I was going to put blue because of her hair, but her circuits are yellow so I thought I’d go with that.)

Zed loves green.

Cyrus has a preference for a deep purple.

Paige loves green as well because it reminds her of her medical days.

Beck likes blue, but white is a close second.

Tron actually likes the color orange, believe it or not, because it reminds him of the old light cycles from the first Grid.

So, I just saw AoS 7x09, and (unless I’m missing a fundamental principle about chronicoms) I’m thinking that if Coulson and Sybil can pull a hard-drive resurrection, why can’t Enoch?  Right?  Please, I’m desperate.

Leap Day

1.  I am a huge book nerd.  Seriously, I check books out of the library by the truckload and every fifth sentence I say starts with the words “That reminds me of this book I read once … ”

2.  I can’t sleep at night without a hat on, even in the summer.  It helps keeps me at a comfortable temperature and blocks out unwanted light. 

3.  I really enjoy black licorice.  I realize that it’s an unpopular candy, but my parents brought me up on it and I can’t imagine not liking it.  Black licorice with dark chocolate is an excellent combination.

Regarding Wolves

I once heard a suggestion that Eugene should go hand-to-hand with Cassandra in a serious battle where he manages to hold his own for a surprising amount of time, and I still really want to see that.  

But on the other hand, what’s the point of having an actual Werewolf on the team if you don’t use her?  So, in the final battle, Catalina needs to transform one last time and duel it out with Zhan Tiri.   

Edit after the last episode:  And they didn’t do it?!  Seriously, we got maybe ten total seconds of werewolf time in this episode.  Catalina has this epic alternate form that can take twenty times the damage of her human self and even comes complete with razor sharp claws and teeth, and she still chooses to run into battle against an INTERDIMENSIONAL DEMON as a vulnerable human child.  I’m probably way overthinking this, but come on, Disney!  You’re wasting opportunities here!  

That thing reminds me of a Xenomorph (from the Alien franchise).  How do we know it didn’t crash land in the Arctic in a meteor?

I love how Thor and Thanos are united in their facepalming.

My question is, how does she breathe in space without her helmet?  Because it doesn’t immediately seem like having the ability to generate Space-Fire would negate the Human body’s (or the Kree body’s) need for oxygen.  

Edit:  This is still a cool movie (and I am a massive Marvel nerd), only this scene would appeal to me more is she was wearing her helmet.

Okay, I’m sure that someone has already posted about this, but I wanted to ask it for myself.  

So, does anyone else do this thing where you see a character you really like and you automatically assume they’re going to die?  

Like, when it was revealed in Captain Marvel that the Skrulls weren’t the villains, and that General Talos had a family he’d been waiting to see again, my brother and I began to nudge each other in the theater like “Oh man, he’s gonna die.”  “Yeah, he’s too likable.  They’re going to kill him off.”  (And later on when he was shot we both lost it and screamed “OH, I KNEW IT!!!”)  Obviously, it was a huge relief when he didn’t die after all, but it was a heart attack for the both of us.  

Can anyone else out there relate? 

So beautiful!  Hey, since mer-people can’t use paper money, what if they used these for currency instead?  Like different colors for different oceans, and different sizes for different denominations?
