No Bc Codys Parents Ignore Him And Hold No Respect For Him Unless They Can Use Him To One Up Each Other
no bc codys parents ignore him and hold no respect for him unless they can use him to one up each other (his mother PAID HIM to beat his father in a game of chess and then he left for a whole year so he could train to beat cody in chess when cody was like. 9) and he so desperately wants to be liked and respected by others but hes a nerd/dork/geek at his core and so to learn how to be 'cooler' he literally goes to the mall to people watch bc nobody wants to be around him partially because of his lack of 'normal' socialisation and his poor social skills even though he is so incredibly talented in so many other ways (sculpting/engineering, art, chess, etc)
meanwhile alejandro has spent his entire life trying to achieve perfection in an attempt to be recognised as his own person by the people around him INCLUDING HIS FAMILY who only ever view him as a lesser version of jose and so he has all these skills but no reason for any of them bc his family will never appreciate him as his own person back home and so he learned how to be manipulative and use his looks to get what he wanted from people bc at his core hes convinced that he is inherently lesser
both of them are horrifically mangled on the show and it is treated as some sort of 'comeuppance', cody with the bear in tdi and alejandro with the volcano in tdwt, both of them are selfish and treat people poorly as a result of their horrendous upbringings, both of them are capable of so much as they are currently and also capable of so much more but theyre held back by their trauma and a lack of support from the people around them, both of them are rotten but there is a glimmer of something truly beautiful at their cores but to get there would be horrible work

Made a YouTube video! Lol
We agreed that, if you fixed the time machine, I’d take you back to see your mom. A deal’s a deal.
What's "dawn Varian"??
so moonvarian originated back in s1 not as an au but as a serious theory speculating about a possible connection between varian and the rocks and whether varian might be connected to a (then hypothetical) “moon flower” analogous to the sundrop, which in all fairness was not a terribly off the wall guess given what was known at the time, esp with the fandom by and large underestimating how central a figure demanitus would become in the story’s lore.
and there was a…contingent of the varian slice of the fandom who got super invested in the moonvarian theory and remained ADAMANT that it was going to become canon in the end, even as s2 built more and more obviously toward cassandra taking the moonstone and indeed well into s3. (this contingent is also the source of all the, “chris changed the plot after s1 to give the arc varian was meant to have to cassandra instead to spite varian fans” conspiracy theories haha.)
anyway; around the time cassandra’s revenge aired, this contingent finally started to realize that moonvarian really… wasn’t going to happen. and because these were people who 1. had by this point sunk enormous amounts of time and energy into convincing themselves and each other that varian really did have a grand cosmic destiny connected to the moonstone, and 2. thought that the statement “varian is a supporting character” counted as character hate (i am not exaggerating)—what happened was an immediate, thoroughly incoherent explosion of frantic theorizing concentrated mostly in the Big General TTS Discord, which produced the Dawn Varian Theory.
which… briefly,
1. there are actually four cosmic powers, the sundrop, the moonstone, the dusk, and the dawn
2. dusk empowers the moonstone, dawn empowers the sundrop
3. zhan tiri is the dusk, varian is the dawn
4. (without varian rapunzel is nothing)
5. varian is going to unlock his dawn powers/destiny in the last few episodes of s3, and he’ll be the one to unite the sundrop and moonstone and defeat zhan tiri in the end
6. [bizarre tangent into zodiac symbolism whose intended point i STILL can’t figure out]
…all accompanied by a lot of circle jerking about how the dawn varian people were just so much better at storytelling and understood the real story of tts so much better than the actual writers, because that’s just how the big general tts server was, and probably still is. almost one hundred percent of the “evidence” supporting this theory was 1. “varian is associated with the color pink!” and 2. a small assortment of screencaps where varian is visually framed between rapunzel and the black rocks and similar visual symbols.
it was a lot.
if you’ve ever seen art of varian with glowing pink eyes — that’s dawn varian haha
Low-key Shezow inspired but also I want a evil clone plot

YES YEAH ABE IS A SIMP. BIG TIME.
BUT SO IS JOAN!! DONT LEAVE HER OUT OF IT. SHES A MASSIVE SIMP. YUGE. COLOSSAL.
THE DIFFERENCE THO, IS THAT JOAN CARES ABOUT ABE ENOUGH TO NOT LET HER PERSONAL DESIRES GET IN THE WAY OF BEING A GOOD PERSON. EVEN THOUGH SHE'S ABRASIVE AND REGRETFUL ABOUT IT, SHE CONSISTENTLY HELPS ABE BE WITH CLEO BECAUSE SHE KNOWS CLEO MAKES HIM HAPPY.
Bam. Ok alright. First ep. Joan gets Abe and Cleo together by telling Cleo over the teen crisis hotline to get with the "nicer guy". Because Joan noticed Abe was upset about competing with JFK.
Ep 5. Abe sleepy ep. Joan puts in the time and effort and metaphors and personal anecdotes in an attempt to keep Abe from being a moron. And he does end up taking her advice,,, but only in the heat of the moment and after he already fucked up on the exam.
Ep 7. Joan is pissed af that Abe still wants Cleo despite her and that one dude(I cant fucking remember his name god dammit) were like.. 👀… Y'know. And despite that she still helps him reach Cleo before she leaves in the plane to go back to the beach thingy.
Idk theres more examples but those are the ones that stick out the most imo.
Now Abe.
Abe. My guy. Love ya bud, but man.
HE VERY OFTEN LET'S HIS [strong feelings] GET IN THE WAY OF BEING A GOOD FRIEND TO JOAN AND GANDHI.
Yeah he'll end up learning his lesson each time around(kinda), but the deed's been done and his priorities are clear. He cares more about how his platonic relationships affect the way Cleo percieves him and more about keeping Cleo away from JFK than boldly standing for what he believes in. Y'know, until it's too late. On multiple occassions. With varying levels of consequences.
He’s not a bad person though. He’s just… really bad at keeping his morals straight.
Joan is spiteful towards her clone mother. She despises the idea of living up to the real Joan of Arc's legacy. And yet, after being the one to outwardly speak her truth, disguising herself as a guy to play basketball, and showing her selfless side, time and time again we see Joan turning out to be more and more like the last person she wants to be.
Joan is a good person. Her decision-making makes me want to yell and punch something because being a good friend without reciprocation SUCKS. But ultimately Joan wants the best for Abe. Shes always lookin out for the guy and what he wants. From the get-go she could've secured the relationship by telling Cleo to get with JFK again, but she cares deeply about Abe and doesn't want to see him sad. Joan always(begrudgingly but benevolently) helps Abe stay with Cleo, no matter how much it hurts.
That's just what martyrs do babeyyy-
