In a show full of tropes that scratch my every itch (BL, forbidden love, enemies to lovers, bickering couple, it goes on and on…) an underrated one is the unreliable narration of the Bad Buddy story. We are told and shown things only for future information to recontextualize, clarify, and deepen what we think we know.

Told they have been enemies since they were children

O wait actually Pran saved my sisters life and we had a weird bonding moment over this watch

O actually we played a love song together while making intense eye contact

O actually WE WROTE that song together I kept his guitar and I ran after him

O actually, Pran has been fully aware of his love for Pat for years and was actively sad and jealous of Ink

O ACTUALLY WE HAVE CANS ON A STRING HEAVILY IMPLYING WE HAVE BEEN SECRETLY SPEAKING FOR YEARS AND YEARS

I love that we get these tidbits teased out over episodes. I LOVE that they are small revelations not one big confession or explanation. I love that the unreliable narration, where we are TOLD one thing but shown pieces that build a totally different world, is present from scene one to finale.

You're so used to seeing others perspectives, you realise that most things are not about right or wrong but are about perspective. And its all good untill you can't confidently defend your perspective/beleifs being right, because you don't believe that there is anything that is always objectively right anymore.

You know.....when you're raised to always put yourself in everybody else's shoes, one day you realize you don't fit in your own? Heck....you don't even know where yours are.
