Whump Prompt #1352
Whumptober #1: Search Party
Let me set the scene.
It's dark out, and a frigid cold has set in. An icy rain hammers across the land, soaking your whumpee to the bone. They're frozen to the core; shivering terribly as they lay crumpled in the muddy ditch. They got dumped hours ago. Their body is slowly giving up, and their hopes of a rescue dwindle with every raindrop. At least the canopy of trees offers some respite, but as the night deepens and their blood seeps from their wounds they know they're in trouble.
At the other end of the forest, just as lightning begins to streak across the sky and thunder rolls between the clouds, the search party sprints into the undergrowth. Well, it’s not so much of a party and more of a small gathering - just those who were present when the news of the whumpee’s drop-off location arrived. They know they don’t have long, so with just their flashlights and raincoats, the team fan out, calling desperately for the whumpee as their dim beams of light barely illuminate the ground in front of them.
Perhaps the whumpee tries to claw their way out of the ditch. Maybe the rainwater begins pooling underneath their bloody body. Maybe they hear their rescuers but cannot call out…
How long can they hold out for before they succumb to the bloodloss, or cold? Do they also contract a cold from their ordeal, making recovery even more miserable?
