It is currently 1:21 in the morning rn and I just realized that most of what has happened with Mr. Puzzles from the Puzzlevision shows to now can be summed up with the “Horse Loose in a Hospital” bit by John Mulaney and now I really wanna see it get animated cuz that’d be so funny!!!

So…that new SMG4 episode that dropped today. Yeah, that took a dark turn I was not expecting. Currently going insane rn. Also, as soon as the episode ended, my mom texted me “You ok?” which was hilariously timed! But anyways, guess that means the WOTFI is coming soon. Yaaaaaayyyyyy…….

So, as a normal person who's favorite SMG4 character is Mr. Puzzles, I've been reading a few Mr. Puzzles x reader fics, and this one is just amazing! The writing for every chapter feels like actual episodes from the show and everyone having different nicknames for Insert is really nice. And, after reading the recent chapter, it's actually given me some inspiration to draw my self-insert interpretation of them. When working on this, I saw @bovinewriter's canon design for Insert and a few other posts of theirs saying it's more of a base design for open interpretation, so I kept the main aspects of the canon design (horns, hairstyle, and jacket) then added my self-insert spin onto it. Also, my original interpretation for the two halves was each one was a different color that mixed together to form the main color Insert wears, but then I thought, "What if the two halves and pre-split Insert each wore one of the secondary colors?", so I went with that instead.
Left
Left is the more serious, albeit, more depressed half.
They are patient and cool-headed, with some exceptions.
During the split, they kept the dark and cool-colored aspects of their original outfit since they're the rational, logical, and more pessimistic half of Insert. They also have pants instead of shorts because it's more professional (in their opinion).
Right
Right is the more impulsive and animated half, so to speak.
They are optimistic and loyal, in their own way, and tend to go with the flow in certain situations.
They kept the lighter/warmer aspects of their original outfit since, despite their choice after the split, their intentions really are wholesome and they want nothing more than to bring out their insane, TV-headed man's good nature. How sweet.
I don't have an exact idea of what my interpretation of Insert before the split would look like, but this is a rough idea I drew up, which (at the time of writing this) looks kind of similar to Opossol's character, Eliza. That was not my intention and I apologize. Go check out their stuff, it's great! Also, go check out their Creative Control animatic on YouTube. It's awesome! The 2D and 3D elements blend beautifully with each other.
Anyways, I just wanted to share this for funsies and also promote bovinewriter's fic. If you're looking for a good Mr. Puzzles x reader fic, I highly recommend this one, especially if you want one that makes you feel like you're in an actual SMG4 episode. Btw, I'm cooking up another Mr. Puzzles related thing rn that I'll, hopefully, be able to finish and release before the end of the year because I really wanna finish it and make it good before my hyperfixation runs dry and it becomes other unfinished project, slowly gathering dust. So, I do this thing sometimes where I’ll take a character I like from a fandom I love and try to figure out what kind of dragon from the httyd franchise they would be. And since Mr. Puzzles has taken over my brain, my first thought was that he would definitely be a Deathsong! So have this doodle of a crazy tv man and his new, deadly friend! 😊
Where’s the Snaptrapper?
Oh where, oh where has my Snaptrapper gone? Oh where, oh where can it be? With its heads of four and its danger factor so huge, oh where, oh where can it be?
That’s right, folks. Today’s topic will be about the SNAPTRAPPER — the most exotic dragon in the franchise, in my opinion. More elusive than a Flightmare, more mysterious than a Night Fury, deadlier than a Changewing, and possibly as rare as a Buffalord and Night Fury. Not only this, but the Snaptrapper is quite possibly the only dragon in the Book of Dragons that has never shown its head — or heads, as it were — once in either the films or the TV series. While the others that were in the Book of Dragons not only had appearances, but new dragons also showed up as well.
Why is that?
Well, personally, I think it’s just due to negligence and laziness on DreamWorks’ part. I mean, one would think that if you’re going to show a dragon species in the Book of Dragons, that they’ll appear somewhere, whether it’s the films or the TV show. Now I know that the Snaptrapper is in some graphic novels and video games, but I don’t consider them canon to begin with. They have waaaaaaay too many contradictions and inaccuracies and taken-liberties in them to even acknowledge their existence, in my opinion. (Please don’t take offense. I know they’re probably great for casual use, but for hardcore fans like me, I cringe whenever I see something that contradicts the films and TV show. To be fair, though, the Book of Dragons has its own inaccuracies and contradictions about the dragon species as well.)
That being said, however, what if there’s a reason — a logical reason — behind the absence of the Snaptrapper?
For instance, it could be endangered — like the Buffalord, Night Fury, and other species — due to excess hunting, lack of food, change of climate, or not enough hatchlings make it to adulthood.
Maybe it’s elusive — like the Flightmare, the Deathsong, the Night and Light Furies, the Skrill, etc — wary or shy with humans, and try to live in remote places where humans rarely tread.
Or perhaps, like the Night Fury, it’s not in the Archipelago, but lives in warmer climates, and thus Vikings can’t run into Snaptrappers.
Or — and forgive me for being morbid — maybe they’re in the Archipelago, but any Vikings who know of their lairs and hunting grounds have been killed and eaten, preventing them from passing their knowledge to other Vikings. (If I’ve just given you ammo for your nightmares tonight, I sincerely apologize.)
Regardless of why Snaptrappers don’t appear in the franchise, or where they can be, or how to find them, the main issue of the matter is that the Snaptrappers simply aren’t there. Which is really upsetting and I can’t help but be disappointed. I really love Snaptrappers for various reasons. I, for one, would’ve LOVED to see them appear — even if it was in just one episode in Race to the Edge. I would’ve enjoyed discovering if the little info we had about them was all true and valid, and if they were trainable or not, etc, etc. However, it wasn’t meant to be; I’ll just have to create my own headcanons for the Snaptrapper, then. What’s even sadder is that there’s not even any FANFICTION about them. :’(
