“O gift of God! O perfect day: / Whereon shall no man work, but play; / Whereon it is enough for me, / Not to be doing, but to be!”—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Mostly dead, yet slightly alive, I have officially finished my first semester of law school! I’ve learned a lot, had fun with friends, landed a summer job at a law firm downtown, and been paralyzed with anxiety—yet here I am.

“He's almost there now…When they start half-hoping someone will shoot them so they can rest their feet, they're not far away.” —Stephen King
I spent the afternoon in the library doing citations for my factum due tomorrow. I plan to finish tonight, then work on outlining my final project. After that will come some well-deserved rest.
Happy winter solstice! The light begins to return tomorrow!!
Things my law school profs have said out of context: winter semester edition
- We can’t have everything someone says be contractually binding. What would the politicians do?
- Class is cancelled Tuesday. I will be in a four hour Zoom meeting with people I don’t really want to talk to
- One sexual act to rule them all
- Key message: be depressed rather than hopeful
- Oh morally he’s a bastard
- The question is not whether you could get sued. It’s whether you could be sued successfully
- It’s not a crime to want somebody dead
- So we’re sitting around discussing exculpatory clauses, as people do
- I added the underline there just to make it *~fancy~*
- March is the month when everyone in [insert locale here] convinces themselves “It’ll be nice when it gets to March”, and then March comes and beats us down like rats
- Where am I going with that? Sorry, thought evaporated. Cancel that.
- We’ll see it’s actually not quite difficult. I don’t know what my problem was
- And here is where…I despair. I don’t despair often, but every time I look at this, I have no clue what’s going on here
- I might actually be sad when it’s gone because I love complaining about it
- Maybe Parliament is pretty nice anyway. But, it turns out they’re not.

hello my old heart
