I really like fantasy! I’m a sucker for dragons, the Eragon series and Wings of Fire series will both always have a place in my heart. :3

It’s also kinda hard to pin down a way to describe my book tastes cause I just pick up anything that looks interesting to me.

Something I read more recently that I really liked was “the free people’s village” by Sim Kern, and one from my childhood I still really like is “the Cavendish home for boys and girls” by Claire Legrand.

ok so maybe this is silly goofy nonsense talk, but hear me out.

one of the cooler things about boomers i have learned from working in a library mainly kept running by badass elderly ladies, is that sometimes they have actually amazing galaxy brain takes on technology and social media. informed by a healthy appreciation of technological advancement, scientific discovery, and the added perspective of experiencing society without certain technologies.

however, their regular use of 21st century tech is generally limited to listening to music whenever they want, calling their friends, and posting images of their grandkids on facebook. which. valid.

i just thought ya’ll should know cause boomers are like, the poster generation for just hating tech for being different from their childhood. (which very very very very much happens. i know. i know all too well.) but also. like. there are some very valid points to be made by people who know what humanity is like without the weird internet panopticon that has developed, they just don’t post those points online. they tell them to strange little autistic guys on shift at the library with them. apparently.

so go to the library and try talking to your elders. if you want. or like, your peers maybe? i don’t know how old you are. if you’re an older person with galaxy brain takes on technology feel free to impart wisdom on weird people at libraries i guess?

having a job is so funny, you do enough masking to warrant a 3-year nap, and leave saying “see you tomorrow”

I’m having a meltdown. When I was 9 years old I read an article in a magazine called Backyard Adventures about how this antelope, the saiga, was on the verge of extinction. I enlisted the help of my best friend and launched a fundraising campaign called Save the Saigas. We sold lemonade, had bake sales, sold belongings, yelled at strangers as they passed in their cars. Our parents were able to match the money we made. Our school helped. It wasn’t much, it didn’t save them, but it helped the organization at least a little bit.

Y’all. The saigas have been saved. A little piece of my passionate child heart that has seemed hopelessly lost and endlessly disappointed for a long time feels so soothed. Maybe it’s not all hopeless. Maybe our efforts aren’t a complete waste. Maybe we keep trying and actually hope for the best.

Good job everyone!! Bring hope into the new year!!

Also Helicoprion is an honorable mention even though they are technically a ratfish.

Hey, here's an interesting question.

As I'm evil, there is no "Other" option because I know people will answer with "all sharks/all of the above" — and, well, I wanted to fit as many sharks as I could. Shark candidates gathered very scientifically (what I see most often on tumblr dot com webbed site).
