I saw a lot of Legend of Korra influence in Arcane. First because Grayson is basically Lin Beifong in a Runeterra AU:

Then there’s Vi with her back muscles and her tall rich girlfriend. Yes, I do tend to see Korrasami everywhere, but at least in this instance I am canonically not crazy!

You have Tweeted about some of your favorite cartoons and cartoon relationships, like Korra and She-Ra. Did these series, or any others, help inspire or influence your work on Arcane?

Everything I like inspires my work! Characters and stories I love both inspire me to build on the success they had, but also to find a new way into, or out of, the story that gives us something we haven’t seen yet. I love how the women in She-Ra and Korra got to be both strong and vulnerable, driven and flawed.

To me, a character has to have the potential to change for me to care about them, and they need to be their own worst enemy at times so it’s satisfying when they finally make a different choice.

Cassandra: You should be thinking of meeting boys of our social status to date and marry one day.

Caitlyn: *is a lesbian*

Cassandra, not caring: Okay, girls then.

Caitlyn: *sneaks girls into her room times a few times and Cassandra catches them*

Cassandra, a bit pissed off: Hopefully she'll settle down with one.

Caitlyn: *keeps sneaking girls in but it's still nothing serious that promises a marriage*

Cassandra, starting to lose her patience: Well, at least they're high society girls from respectable families? She will find one she really falls in love with eventually.

Caitlyn: *brings a poor punchy lesbian from the undercity who's full of tattoos, scars and piercings, and who is also wearing what it looks like a bloodstained prison uniform*

There’s something about Kiramman’s tenacity that’s both inspiring and downright dumfounding. That she would risk her job, her reputation, and her very life to pursue a case after nearly dying. You recognize the “Conspiracy Board” confiscated from the intrepid enforcer’s house. She was three steps ahead of everybody, working alone. Imagine what she could have done with Piltover’s resources.
