A/N: I did it, and I swear it’s short. @princess-kagura I hope you like it!

Kagura swallowed a sob as she heard the nightingale sing. She had valiantly fought to keep her feelings to herself up until that moment, but her control was slipping like water through sieve.

Lord Sesshomaru stood beside her in all his glorious, unrelenting and demanding self.

Kagura had nothing more to give, though.

“I wish I never came to the Western Lands”, she said impetuously.

“Is it because you are sorry to leave it?”, Sesshomaru asked quietly.

And yet demanding.

Kagura was consumed by a strange urge to scream, to speak her mind. Ever since she’d come to the Western Lands to tutor Rin, Lord Sesshomaru’s protegée, her life had turned upside down. She wasn’t a nobody anymore - the few people who lived in that palace acknowledged her as a real person. She’d grown to love them, and now she had no choice but to leave.

She’d grown to love him.

“Of course I grieve to leave!”, she said, turning to face him and piercing his golden eyes with her magenta ones. “I love the Western Lands! I love it, because here I lived a full life, at least momentarily. I wasn’t trampled on, and I wasn’t afraid of anything!”

Sesshomaru’s face showed no emotion, but his hands were shaking a little. Kagura could see right through his controlled façade, but she wasn’t deterred.

“I have known you, Lord Sesshomaru, and it strikes me with terror to know I must leave.”

“Where do you see the necessity?”, he asked.

“Where?”, she returned incredulously. “You, Lord Sesshomaru, have placed it before me!”

“In what shape?”

“In the shape of your princess Abi, a noblewoman - your bride!”

“I have no bride”, he corrected coldly.

“But you will have.”

“Yes, I will”, Sesshomaru said through clenched teeth.

“Then I shall go.”

“You must stay.”

Commanding.
