It had been a long day. Practice had gone terrible, you'd been hit more than a couple times, and had more then enough of your face hitting the ice.

You weren't quite sure why, but your head had been so out of it that you could barley focus. and of course, your boyfriend knew better than anyone what you needed. the two of you had gone out for ice cream, and now you were in his room. The dusty attic of Leblanc.

You were all cozied up in his sweater, and he held your arm in his hands, palm up. He dragged his eyes up and down your arm, looking at the bruises. he knew he couldn't do much about bruises, they weren't like cuts. but he couldn't help the frown that formed on his face when he looked at the blue and yellow marks all over your arms.

He dropped your arm, moving to wrap his around you, your face resting against his chest. it was nice. he was warm, and smelt of coffee. you snuggled into him, and he squeezed you, whispering compliments to you, and telling you that you would do better next time, that this was just one dumb practice.

but it had gone on quite a while. you were starting to feel bad. it was hard not to when he was making all those sad dramatic sighs from the corner of his room. you gave in, setting the chibi down on Akira's couch, so it would be comfortable. then you made your way to your boyfriend, a sad look plastered on his face. whether he was being dramatic or not, the sight made your heart melt.

before you even had time to sit down all the way, he was on top of you. he wrapped his arms around your torso, burying his face into your neck. you could smell the ever lasting coffee scent he had adopted since he moved to the cafe, and it brought a smile to your face.

Goro's apartment was dark, the only light source being the little light from the streets coming from the little slits in his window blinds.

You sat on the floor, hand intertwined with his. It had been a rough day for him.

You looked over at him. He was slouching, something he only did at his worst. You couldn't see very well in the dark, even though your eyes had already been adjusted for quite a while, but you could tell by the small glance you had given him that he was tired.

He wasn't just tired because he hadn't been sleeping. There was so much going on with him. He had told you some of it, but only little pieces, not enough to fill in the blanks though. Sometimes you wished he would tell you, just so he could get some of weight lifted of his shoulders, but sometimes the weight seemed so large, so heavy, that telling you would do little to help him.

His hand squeezed yours, and you squeezed back, showing you were with him. He looked over at you, eyes meeting yours. You could see his face a little clearer, moonlight spreading a pale glow across his skin.

His eyes were puffy, and slightly red. Something you rarely saw.

You reached over and pulled him into your chest, rubbing his back. He curled into you, like a scared child, and for a second you felt as if he really was one. Somewhere deep behind the mask he put on was a child. A lonely one. So you held onto him tightly, rubbing his back and messaging his scalp. Even if you couldn't help carry his weight, and help him fight whatever was tearing him apart, you could slowly help build him back together.

It would take a while, but you would do it. Together. Piece By Piece.
