Ok I Want To Talk About Zoya Nazyalensky For A Second
ok i want to talk about zoya nazyalensky for a second
when you look at the grishaverse as a whole, to me, zoya is ultimately the main character (not to take away from alina but here me out). she is amongst the group of characters that has made it from book one to book seven and has made appearances in 6/7 of the those books. she has the biggest character arc, one from shadow and bone to ruin and rising, and another from ruin and rising to rule of wolves. she goes from a guarded, angry soldier whose too scared to have her hands in anything but a fist to a merciful, peaceful saint and queen of ravka. not to mention the level of power she possesses by the end of the series. everyone only ever wanted peace for ravka and zoya was the one to give it to them.

Little solangelo High School au
because I physically need to talk more about Jock Will Solace it’s a physical need sorry guys I love you but it’s an obsession I cannot help it
Nico di Angelo thinks Will Solace is the worst specie of Jock ever. He’s rude, stupid, incoherent, ignorant, unnecessary loud and superficial. That’s what he supposes, at least; he hardly ever spoken to him. But the way he acts definitely speaks for itself. He vowed to himself to not speak to him (or else he would’ve yelled to his face) and to just ignore him constantly, and he intends to maintain that vow.
Will Solace can’t help his heart beating faster at the sight of him. He can’t help his tongue twisting when he’s close by, and his cheeks blushing when the words come out badly. He can’t help looking for one particular person in the stands after he shoot a successful basketball, winning points for the team. He can’t help panicking, trying to find a way to impress him, make him look at him, even if it’s a glare, because every kind of attention is wanted if it’s from him. And he can’t help always saying or doing something stupid because of it. He just wish he was able to deal with his feelings like a normal teenager, cause at that point he is sure Nico Di Angelo thinks he’s one of those cliché dumb assholes.
Nico Di Angelo wants to cry of anger when he discovers that, thanks to the school tutoring program, he has to tutor Will Solace is english, and he has to tutor him in math. He already hates math, but this is only going to get worse.
Will Solace cant stop smiling when he finds out he can finally spend time with his crush of two years semi-alone. He’s so happy that he doesn’t even think about the possibility of saying something extremely stupid until he does, some time later. His two best friends need to tell him that he’s going to do great at least 300 hundred times to stop making him worry.
Nico di Angelo thinks Will Solace is the worst specie of Jock ever. He’s rude, stupid, incoherent, ignorant, unnecessary loud and superficial.
Except he’s not.
Because when Nico finally breaks his vow to ignore him as much as possible he finds out how nice, and intelligent, and funny, and deep Will Solace is. And if observing him carefully while the other is looking down to the book, explaining him something about math, also make him find out how beautiful he is, he doesn’t tell anyone.
Will Solace can’t explain his sibilings how happy he is. He can’t explain them how he, for once, did almost nothing weird, and how Nico di Angelo looked at him, smiled at him and laughed slightly at one of his best jokes. He can’t hold back the smile when he tells them they like similar nerdy things, and how they bonded over them.
Nico di Angelo can’t explain to himself how did he fall into such a prejudice. He, who never judged people, and he, who always got judged by others. He can’t explain to himself how dumb, and stupid, and superficial he was. The only thing he can do now i to make it up to Will. To clever, nice, funny and beautiful Will. (That definitely doesn’t wake up butterflies is his stomach)
Will Solace isn’t that surprised when Nico, after being friends for a couple of months, tells him that he had hated him for a period of time. Of course, he had no idea he hated him, but was pretty aware of a dislikeness.
When Nico tells him how sorry he is, and if Will would’ve ever forgave him, the blond smiles a little, and told him that even though he doesn’t like being associated with that image, seeing how he acted in front of Nico, it indeed made sense to be seen in that way. He tells him not to worry, and that it was him acting all weird and feeling nervous around him.
“Feeling nervous?”
Will Solace feeling nervous for him? Nico di Angelo? The random emo guy that everyone dislikes? That didn’t make sense at all.
In the moment Nico di Angelo asks him what he meant by ‘feeling nervous’ Will Solace knows he fucked up. He is just now making progress with him, what is he supposed to tell him now?
He tries finding excuse after excuse, he truly does, but at the end he can only tell the truth
Nico di Angelo has no idea what to tell Will when he tells him he had (has) a crush on him. He tries to breath properly, and hold back a smile, because he needs to tell Will. He needs to tell him that he likes him back. He needs to tell him how his legs feel weak when they are together. He needs to tell him how he was never this happy with anyone.
And so he does.
And when at the next match Will Solace shoots a successful basketball, obtaining points for the team, and looks back at the stands to see if someone in particular watched him, Nico di Angelo smiles big at him, and loudly cheers in his number seven oversized varsity.
Imagine if you will:
Years post Crooked Kingdom, Kaz and Inej are married. One day, Inej brings up the possibility of children. Instead of immediately shutting her down like she expected, Kaz agrees. But instead of having kids biologically, he has another plan.
That night they walk the streets of Ketterdam, and they find the children that have lost parents, that are sleeping in the streets, that spend their days searching for work so they can survive.
They offer the children a hot meal, somewhere safe to sleep. Inej can take them away on her ship if they want, back to their home country, or wherever else they want to go. Or, if they don't have anywhere, they can stay.
Kaz teaches those who stay how to pick locks, and how to find good paying (if less than honest) work. Inej teaches them how to climb and where to walk in the city to stay safe from slavers. Together they teach the children to fight.
They spend weeks on The Wraith all together, freeing the enslaved and travelling the world. There are mass sleepovers at the Van Eck mansion, where Uncle Jesper tells stories of the time their parents broke into the ice court, when they took down the biggest Barrel boss (before the biggest boss was Dad, of course) and Uncle Wylan teaches them how to play music.
They travel to Ravka, where they meet the King, who they can't quite believe once struck a deal with their father. They train with Aunt Nina, who tells them about the fjerdan soldier who gave his life to save her, and shows them her unique power.
Then one day, when their oldest children come to Kaz and ask why they were adopted. He'll tell the story of Uncle Jordie, and how Kaz knew he couldn't watch from the sidelines as the same thing happened to other children, now that he had the power to help.
Can we talk about how perfect this tiny bit was from the teaser because

First of all, almost all 6 ahhhh
But also regardless of what that flash of light is, their character reactions are so spot on
Kaz is looking directly at it and doesn’t flinch, impassive
Of the others, Inej notices first, turns her head faster and doesn’t flinch, maybe slight concern
Nina and Jesper notice next and redirect their attention, also no flinch but a slight eyebrow raise from Jesper
Wylan notices last and distinctly flinches away
It’s mostly that I noticed Wylan’s reaction and how distinctly different it is than the other crows, which makes so much SENSE
Anyway the point is both that I’m obsessed and that this cast is so GOOD
smh it’s always “I’ll love you until my last breath.” and never “Then I will love her from my grave.”

my friend just pointed out that Wylan doesn’t even play the piano (see: the Flute Exchange in Six of Crows), which makes the Kuwei-Piano-Kiss scene 16x funnier to me. It’s not Kuwei’s fault. Jesper’s just stupid. This is why Wylan was so mad.
“he’s not even that good at science!”
“okay listen Wylan he was sitting next to the piano and-“
“FLUTE, JESPER! FLUTE! I DON’T EVEN PLAY PIANO-“
