:D!!!!!

* Live action Luffy keeps insisting he’s a different kind of Pirate; Manga Luffy would never

* I’d like to think this is because LA Luffy internalized Garp’s views on Pirates, and he did see Shanks as the acception to the rule

* Being raised to be a marine DID have an effect on him for all that he was always a pirate

* Which leads into the next point

* LA Luffy is also definitely more selfless than manga Luffy; Manga Luffy is a good person, but he’s still a criminal and has never pretended to be anything else—They’re still pirates, self serving and shit

* But Live Action Luffy goes out of his way to help the people around him, and is more conscientious and tactful than Manga Luffy ever was; He reassures the people Buggy captured, and very actively set them free

* When Manga Luffy does stuff like this, it’s normally because he befriended some of the hurt party, or helping/saving people was a byproduct of whatever he was doing or whoever he was fighting

* There’s also how he encouraged and saved Koby without making him stick up for himself first, which is based but, Manga Luffy has a whole thing about not defending the defenseless when they’re being wimps about it

* And he disagreed with stealing a ship, wanting to acquire The Going Mary ā€œproperlyā€ and even gave an amazing sales pitch to Kaya about it

* Which is why I also think LA Luffy is more emotionally aware than Manga Luffy; he even actually listens to Nami’s backstory, and insists he wants to hear Nami’s perspective before forming an opinion

* The Luffy’s are operating on different levels of intelligence. Not to say that one is smarter than the other, but their fundamental opinions and beliefs putting them on different wavelengths

* LA Luffy somewhat lacks Manga Luffy’s confidence because of this

* He’s still confident, he just carries himself with less bravado

* This can be chalked up to the writers not having to conform to the self insert, Goku-esque shonen protag, but I like to think it’s because LA Luffy hasn’t seen real combat before

* When Garp threw a canonball at them, and LA Luffy bounced it back, he acted shocked with himself, and said he didn’t know he could do that, where Manga Luffy might have taken it in stride, presenting himself like he had the situation under control the whole time

* And there was a desperation to the way he screamed that he’d never surrender to Garp, like he had something to prove

* Not to mention how emotionally dependent on his crew LA Luffy is, having been deeply shaken by Zoro’s condition after fighting Mihawk, and his honest hurt from Nami betrayal; his denial of it felt like he was in denial, opposed to the sure insistence shown by Manga Luffy in these situations

FUCK MAN THE ONE PIECE LIVE ACTION IS SO GOOD WTF

I NEVER THOUGHT I’D SAY THAT SHIT ABOUT A LIVE ACTION BUT HOLY SHIT

I keep Going outside and seeing so many beautiful, interesting places and people, and then get home, put a pencil in my hand, and not remember a damn thing

Do y’all ever struggle to tell the difference between performative emotional responses and actual emotions you are feeling, because I have been doing this shit for so long that I stopped trying to tell them apart, as ultimately, the difference doesn’t really matter ever
