I wish I could take all the hurt of those who were and are medically neglected and mold it into a tiny ball to be put inside a bottle and shipped off to sea. There's so much of it. So much grief and anger and pain. So many nights spent in agony while family and doctors and paramedics fail you over and over and over again. Having to watch everyone around you observe your suffering and seem entirely unphased. Confined to wheelchairs that aren't made for your body because they're the only ones available to people without a prescription. Your rage is warranted but I wish I could calm it for all of us. Just for one peaceful night of sleep.

Today, I got bumped and shoved by quite a few people on their way to classes and, as someone with chronic pain and mobility issues, this is a problem because it heightens my pain and makes me unstable.

Be aware of others and don't fucking shove

it kinda sucks realizing how much the disabled community just does not care about Deafies

like, you guys don't hate us you just don't embrace us

and then you wonder why so many Deaf people don't consider themselves part of the community (which is way more complicated than just the alienation but it's definitely a contributing factor)

we're just so ignored. I don't think most hearing disabled people could name a problem we're facing beyond "no captions" and "no interpreters". you guys know nothing about us and our issues and when we try to inform you of them we're just scrolled past or spoken over.

anyways, it's Deaf awareness month. I think it would do a lot if every hearing person found a variety of Deaf activists and followed them. find Deaf people who sign, who speak, who have CIs, etc. and listen to them. we are allies and we have been for decades but we have always been the third or fourth thought if we're thought of at all. change that.

i think... all cripples who use mobility aids should weaponize them

for one my classes, the final exam is in-person and 3 hours long. i tried to get accommodations for it, but the most the accessibility services said they could give me was 30 minutes total of a break during the entire session.

its impossible to expect an able bodied person to sit and write for 3 hours, so expecting a disabled person to do so (when i genuinely CANNOT) is even more disappointing and isolating.
