Two Weeks Of Whump Day 5: Broken Glass/ Building Collapse

Two Weeks of Whump Day 5: Broken Glass/ Building Collapse

Fandom: Across the Spider-verse

Warning: Character Death

Summary: what if Miles hadn't saved Inspector Singh? What if everything went according to the canon?

Pavitr watched the building as surrendered to gravity. He watched as the fragments of the building fell around Inspector Singh and a child. It rested on the ground.

From there everything seemed to move in slow motion. Pavitr couldn't think right. What Inspector Singh had died? What if the child has been killed? What would he tell Gayatri?

Gayatri. Looking down at the bus he continued pulling it up. Hobie came over to help. Miles and Gwen got down and Miles started to ask her why she wouldn't let him help.

After the bus was brought to stable ground, Pavitr ran over the remainder of the building. Hobie helped the civilians out of the bus.

Glass crunched beneath Pavitr's feet. The shards stabbed into them, leaving blood behind. He didn't even know. The pain didn't register. As he walked the pieces tore more and more of his skin and went further into his feet.

Pulling pieces of ruble from the pile, Spider-Man searches for the police chief and the child he had been trying to help. He could hear the child crying but other than that the sounds around him were like a faint ringing.

"Inspector Singh?" He whispered to himself. As Pavitr removed one of the pieces a pained scream came from under it. Finally the two were uncovered. Other than being terrified the kid was okay.

Inspector Singh not so much. His bloody body lay on the ground. One of his legs was crushed under a larger piece of debris and it appears a rode had impaled him. However the rode had been attached to the piece of rubel that had been part of the puzzle of the Alcomexe building.

Hobie came over and took the child to safety, understanding that Pavitr had to take care of his Captain Stacy. He would help him through it later.

Pavitr tried. He placed his hands on the wound and put pressure on it. Yelling for a doctor wouldn't save him now. The child" strained the Inspector, "is he okay?"

"Yes, he is." Pavitr's voice faltered. Tears formed in his eyes and fell, being hidden by the mask. "Hanging there sir, please."

"My daughter?" The question took Pavitr off guard.

"She's okay. I got her. Sir, you'll be okay. I promise." Before a doctor could arrive on scene Inspector Singh passed. Pavitr knew somewhere in his mind but didn't stop holding on to hope. After all he promised.

When Gayatri realized what had happened she ran towards her father. Hobie, who had given the child to his father and was trying to get Miles and Gwen to stop arguing about why Miles should have been there to help and why Gwen shouldn't have stopped him, ran towards her. He grabbed her from behind and she screamed. "Dad!"

Suddenly the agreement between Miles and Gwen didn't matter. Hobie tried to help Gayatri but she wouldn't stop fighting him. She kicked her feet as Hobie tried to move her farther from the unstable wreckage. "I'm so sorry."

"Let go of me! Dad!" Her voice broke the hearts of the people she was near. Hobie held her tighter. She sobbed and screamed, never letting up on Hobie. She hit strong, if this was a better time Hobie would compliment her on it.

Doctors finally arrived on screen. Pavitr took a step back. He walked back over the glass. Looking down he saw the blood and looked around to figure out who had been injured. It was then that he realized the pain in his feet.

Ignoring it he walked right up to Gayatri. Hobie was no longer restarting her but instead holding her as she cried. Pavitr tapped on her shoulder gently with the back of his hand as go not get any blood on her. "You're his daughter, right?" Of course Pavitr knew that she was.

Gayatri turned around quickly, accidentally sending Hobie back. "yes."

"I'm so sorry." He no longer could hide that he was crying. The sobs came through the mask that he desperately tried to keep on.

Unsure if what to say Gayatri nodded. Hobie came over and hugged Pavitr. "You did your best."

Pavitr broke the hug quickly and got on his tippy toes to whisper something to Hobie. "I'm going to go change, I need to be there for her." Hobie nodded and Pav turned to leave.

Gayatri stopped him, "thank you for trying."

"I just wish it had worked."

With that he swung away. It wasn't but a few minutes before he returned. He ran up to Gayatri. Hobie finally let her go, her sadly smiling at him as he did. Hobie joined Miles and Gwen in aiding where needed. "I got here as quickly as I could."

Gayatri could tell he had been crying. It looked like he was still trying not to. She grabbed him shaking and slowly the two sat down. As she sobbed into his chest Pavitr did what he could to comfort her.

Moving from her position, Gayatri looked him in the eyes. She didn't say anything. Pavitr pulled her back in, not being able to look her in her beautiful brown eyes, "I'm sorry."

Two Weeks of Whump Day 3: Alcohol

Fandom: Across the Spider-verse

Summary: After a difficult day as Spiderman, Miles gets a hold of alcohol. Not knowing how to cope he drinks some and ends up drunk.

Jefferson Morales thought that this Thursday night would be the same as any other. Boy was he wrong. As he walked back to his police car, ready to get back to the station so he could home to his wife and son, he noticed Spider-Man jumping from one building to another.

Trouble always seemed to follow Spider-Man wherever he went. He sighed and shook his head. As he started to turn back to his car the superhero stumbled and fell into an alley. Jefferson ran towards the alley to check on the hero.

It was dark, light falling in the alley from the moon and street lights. A figure raised from the ground and chuckled. "Spiderman, are you okay?"

"Oh!" Mile's head jerked to face the officer, "hiiii" he laughed.

'Okay?', Jefferson thought. He walked closer to Spider-Man. The smell of... alcohol? on him. "Are you alright? You took quite a fall."

"Ohhh yeah, I'm fineeeee. Don't worry about it." Miles slurred his speech and stumbled as he walked towards the building had jumped off of and tried to climb the wall.

"Are you drunk?" Mr. Morales asked concerned. For the first time he realized just how small and vulnerable he was. He also noticed that his voice sounded eerily similar to his sons.

"Pfft nooo" he sounded both unsure and strangely confident. "What gave you that idea?"

"Are you, over 21?" Now Jefferson started to question the hero in front of him. He always assumed that Spider-Man had to be of drinking age or at least an adult but something about the kid in front of him told him otherwise.

"Haha yeah" Miles stared at his father for a moment. He looked concerned and confused.

    "Are you sure?"

He looked at his father and felt tears gather in his eyes. Maybe he should tell him the truth. No one knew who he was underneath the mask what harm to come from telling someone he trusted his problems. His father was stern but kind and a safe person.

"Sir" Miles voice broke, "I'm underaged. I'm a teenager."

Jefferson's heart broke. Something about the child in front of him told him this wasn't a dumb mistake with friends but an attempt to erase pain.

"It's just that being Spider-Man is hard and quite frankly traumatizing" he chuckled then it turned into a sob, "I've been so alone since my friends left. There's no one I can talk to and I thought for just a minute maybe it would help. Maybe I could forget everything, wash it down my throat and be a teenager for a minute. My parents are going to kill me if they find out."

    "Oh."

"I'm scared, I can't balance school, my family, and saving the city without letting someone down and I'm pretty sure my parents think I'm just flaky or irresponsible. I don't want to disappoint them and I don't want to disappoint the city. I don't know what I'm doing and I got Peter Parker killed."

    "Hey, it's okay. Breathe."

Miles slowly sat on the ground. Jefferson kneeled down beside him. "I know one thing, you're not disappointing the city."

"Good to know. Are you proud of me?"

The question took Jefferson off guard. Why would Spider-Man care if he was proud of him. "Of course."

This made Miles cry harder. Hearing his father say that he was proud was what he needed. He grabbed the man in his arms around him, scrunching the other shirt in his fist, and just cried.

After a while he let go and apologized. "It's okay. Next time don't go out drinking. I'll let this slide just this once. Go home, drink some water, and go to bed. Let us worry about the city for the night."

"Okay." Miles stood and walked towards the wall again.

"Spider-Man, maybe you should just walk."

"Your probably right." Miles walked into the sidewalk and started to walk home.

Jefferson walked back to his car. He radioed in that he was on his way back. On his way he thought about Spider-Man. He never thought he would see him like that. He was just a scared and alone little kid who didn't know how else to deal with the trauma of trying to protect an entire city. Not only that he was a student and a son.

He worried about his own son. Have they been too hard on him? Did he feel loved and appreciated? Did he think that they were disappointed or thought he was irresponsible?

Miles crawled into his bedroom and changed from his spider suit to some comfortable pajamas. He walked to the kitchen and grabbed a cup of water. He got just not too and then walked back to his room.

Jefferson opened the door and placed his keys on the counter. He took off his shoes and walked to the kitchen. The cabinet was open. He sighed and closed it after grabbing a cup for water. He warmed up some leftovers and ate them at the table.

Before Mr. Morales went to bed, he opened the door of his son's room. "Miles?" He wasn't supposed to be there but in his dorm at school. Something seemed off.

Miles didn't move and thought maybe he could just explain in the morning that he was having a rough night and had come home. That way he wouldn't notice the smell of alcohol when he spoke to his father. It worked.

Jefferson just smiled and sighed. He would just have to ask in the morning. "Sleep tight Miles, I love you."

Miles smiled. And as the door closed he started to fall asleep. He knew he'd have a horrible headache in the morning and wouldn't want to get up and part of him just wanted to lie and ask to stay home. Washing his feelings down didn't work. It wasn't worth it in the end. Instead his father had to see him at one of his lowest points.

He fell asleep and wasn't woken up in the morning. Instead he got to sleep in and Jefferson decided to take him out for the day. He wasn't sure what was going on with Spider-Man but he could make sure that his son didn't feel that way and he was bound and determined to do so. Maybe one day he can figure out how to help the hero who helped the city so much.

Codywan Week Day 1: Cody With a Lightsaber

Summary: Cody learns to use Obi-wan's lightsaber.

Warning: slight violence?

Note: Cyare: Mando'a for beloved/loved

A lightsaber is a Jedi's life. The crystal carefully calls to you, knowing you'll use its power for good. Who decided to trust it with was your decision.

Obi-wan carefully placed his in Cody's callused hands, "can you take care of this for me? I can't take it on my mission."

"Wouldn't you rather have Anakin hold on to it?" Cody was unsure. He knew how much lightsabers meant to the jedi. Was he really the one who should be the one to watch over it?

"No, I'm sure. It wasn't a hard decision. I'll be back in a few days." He smiled, hoping Cody understood how much this meant.

"Okay. It'll be here when you arrive." Cody hooked it to his belt in the pace he had hallowed out for it. Obi-wan seemed careless with his saber sometimes. Cody ended up holding on to it so he carved a place for it in his armor, altering his most personal possession.

After Obi-wan got back he taught him how to use the lightsaber. Turning it on and off, hold it correctly, and how to fight and protect. Cody picked it up quickly, the Jedi even joked that Cody was force sensitive. He even found a training saber for the commander when they sparred.

As time passed, Cody got better at using it. He no longer feared getting hit by the blade, knowing he wouldn't because of his skill. As he got better the general got closer to him. He stood behind him, wrapping his hands around Cody's body to guide him.

Obi-wan was so warm and inviting. He was patient and passionate. The two found themselves getting to close for the code to like. Lightsabers weren't the only thing to interlock. Hands and lips touched each other gently.

So much was going on. Fire rose on the battlefield and Cody watched Obi-wan. The Jedi fought with the sith apprentice Asajj Ventress. He was losing.

Not long after the sith struck him down. Cody didn't hesitate. He shot at her and rushed to his general's side. Grabbing Obi-wan's lightsaber and turned it on.

The memories of learning to use the saber filled his head as well as the fondness of the time they spent together. Cody looked down at Obi-wan, knowing he held his life in his hands. He would be damned if he would let his cyare's faith be placed wrong.

Ventress was entertained. "You're going to fight me?"

Cody didn't answer. Instead he attacked. Intrigued Ventress held off killing him. When she got bored she would just cut his head off and be done with it.

Obi-wan awoke to lightsabers classing. He attempted to get off the ground. Failing the first time he looked up to see Cody fighting his enemy. He was in awe of his commander.

However he knew the sith was humoring him. Obi-wan had to get up. It scared him to think what may happen if he didn't.

The Jedi pulled himself to his feet, ready to do what was necessary to pull this battle out of the separatist hands. "Cody" he started.

The clone turned his head for just a moment. "Hey general."

"Can I have my saber please?" He joked.

"Of course sir." Cody smiled under his helmet and quickly, yet gently, handed Obi-wan back his saber. He grabbed his gun and stayed nearby.

The battle was just barely a Republic win. Cody helped the injured where he could and when he was no longer of any use went to find Obi-wan.

"Thank you." Obi-wan smiled upon seeing Cody come to his side.

"I'm just glad you're alright. Thank you for trusting me with your life."

"Thank you for taking time to learn how it works."

Whumpril Day 29: "Final Warning."

Fandom: Star Wars Prequels/Clone Wars

Summary: Instead of how Palpatine goes about turning Anakin he tries something else.

Anakin was terrified. He knew something was wrong. The chancler  called him to his office; which had happened many times before, but this time was different. It felt different.

He hesitated to open the door. Then he did. Inside Padme sat, on her knees, in the middle of the room. Her hands behind her and a gag over her mouth. "Don't move any closer" warned Palpatine.

Anakin took in the sight before him. "What's going on?" he asked frightened.

"You are going to make a choice, Anakin Skywalker. Save your wife and join me or let her die." The sith sent chills down the jedi's spine.

'This has to be a dream right'? Anakin thought to himself. He pinched himself, confirming it was no dream; this was real. The sith had been right there the whole time, they were just to blind to see it.

    "Make your choice."

The general looked between Padme and Sidious. He couldn't let Padme die but he had a chance to end everything here. He wanted to be a Jedi for this, to accept that in the end the right choice was to tell the council and end the sith that was Darth Sidious.

    "Final warning."

Anakin's heart sank. He couldn't let her die. If he had more time he could find a way out of this. He walked over to the sith, "what ever you say, master." He struggled to let the last word leave his mouth. His master was Obi-wan. That was his teacher; his brother, not Sidious.

Padme feared he would choose her between the jedi. But he wasn't just choosing to betray the Jedi. He betrayed the Jedi, the clones, the people, himself, and her.

Anakin rose from his kneeling position shakily. He ran over to Padme and took the gag out of her mouth, untied it, and threw it to the ground. "Are you alright?" His hands gently cuffed her face.

"I'm okay. Anakin you can't do this."

    "I have to."

Two Weeks of Whump Day 7: Blindfold/cyanide

Fandom: Across the Spider-verse

Warnings: Major character death and violence

Summary: Hobie battles a new villain and gets captured.

It was another day for your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man until it wasn't. Hobie swung from one building to another before reaching his destination.

A fairly new villain stood in front of him, destroying everything that he could. "Spider-Man! Finally you arrive!" He said. The Prowler stood at about 5'8 and sounded strangely familiar when he spoke.

"Ello, Prowler." Hobie started his attack. At first Hobie had the upper hand as he always did, and things started to shift.

It didn't take much longer for Hobie to end up being thrown off the building  down into the alley. He attempted to stand but was shoved into the ground. Then a swift kick to the head knocked him unconscious.

When Hobie woke he was in a dark room, or at least he thought so. The fabric over his eyes made it difficult to tell. The air was chilly and damp; the set of mold and chemicals hung in the air.

Cold metal wrapped his wrist tightly. Struggling he tried to move from against the wall.

"You won't be leaving" The Prowler informed him. "Actually you won't be leaving ever again."

    "I don't listen to you."

""News flash, I don't care!" The villain carelessly screamed.

As unsettling as it was villains did stuff like this all the time. The spiders even did things like that sometimes. Hobie kept trying to free his hands from the chains.

"Stop trying, don't want your last acts to be tiring do you?" He teased.

"I'll fight until I'm dead." Hobie continued to pull against the chains. "So, where are we?"

    "Wouldn't you like to know."

    "Actually I would."

"Too bad." Across the room Hobie heard a cabinet open and some glasses clinking against each other. The cabinet door closed and something was knocked off a table. A glass shatter on the ground.

"Shit" the villain whispered to himself.

"I think you dropped something." It was Hobie's turn to tease.

The Prowler picked up the largest piece of the glass that had broken and threw it at him. The glass cut into Hobie's skin but it wasn't enough to really hurt. "You won't be laughing soon."

"Haha" Hobie said sarcastically. He shifted his legs to see if me could tell that the floor was. The coolness and texture said concrete so he was likely in a basement. "Is this a basement? How original."

Prowler sighed, "keep talking. It's entertaining." The room fell silent. Prowler's footsteps echoed in the room as Hobie's spider sense rang.

    "Wear heels, do you now?"

As Prowler went in to kick Hobie he moved his body so that his arm would take the hit not his stomach. He moved back further against the wall and pulled his legs out in front of him. Sweeping his leg, he tripped Prowler making him fall to the floor.

"Ow" he said sarcastically. Again Hobie went to kick but this time claws met his right shin. Hissing, he tried to pull it back to him to attack once more.

Prowler had other plans. Using his other hand he clawed Hobie in his left thigh. After that he pulled himself into Hobie's lap and put one arm against the others chest. Grabbing a wet cloth from the floor Prowler shoved it over Hobie's nose and mouth.

It burned when it touched his skin. The smell of almonds lingered in the cloth. Hobie pulled his head away. Prowler grabbed it quickly and held him in place. The rag went right back over his lower face.

Hobie didn't breath for what felt like an eternity. However he had to at some point. The irritation on his skin was getting worse, becoming painful.

Air flooded his lungs, taking an unknown chemical into his body. "Fucking finally. I was wondering if you were ever going to breathe."

As much as Hobie wished to give Prowler some snarky remark, he would save it for later.

"Do you want to know what's in the rag?"

Hobie, holding his breath again tried to nood.

    "Cyanide."

'Fuck' Hobie thought. Fear shot through his body, his spine feeling strange. He tried to use his legs to get Prowler off of him. No luck. He could feel the headache approaching. Sickness started to kick in.

Again Hobie tried to move his head. Claws dug into the side of his face and neck. He squirmed trying to escape.

    "This ends here, Hobie Brown."

    "Uh uh" Hobie vocalized.

Breathing felt dangerous, it was dangerous. He felt dizzy. Time passed so slowly it was like it didn't move. Hobie's condition got worse as he stopped being able to fight.

As the rag was finally removed from his face The Prowler stood. Without saying a word he walked away, footsteps making the only noise in the room. The heels clicked on the concrete floor menacingly.

Hobie breathing was shallow as he tried to make himself comfortable. He chuckled to himself, what a way to die. Alone, by some guy who sounds just like one of his best friends, never completing his goal of saving his world from the corruption it suffered from.
