Jack Harkness was a gay character who lived for centuries. Seriously, other than the Doctor and Master he was one of the only characters who could have potentially lived forever (or at least until the Face of Boe died). Martha and Mikey Smith were two POC characters who were not only smart as hell (one a doctor the other a computer wizz) and were kickass (last appearance anyone?) but they also arguably got the happiest ending of the New Doctor who era as they found each other through the Doctor and were able to continue defending the Earth within their own time period, while also being some of the only companions to leave the TARDIS and the Doctor of their own accord. Yes it is horrible that POC and LGBT+ characters are treated so horribly by the television and film industry but you cannot only call Doctor Who out on this for the case of Bill. If she had been a white heterosexual man I'd believe that Moffat still would have had her/him killed off for the sake of shock and entertainment as was the case for Rory Williams. Just enjoy the show for what it is and for allowing such broad representation as it is. I say this as someone who really loved Bill's character but, while being upset for her apparent permanent state, can appreciate the drama and need for tension as it is the episode before the finale.

Dont worry about LGBT rights now that Leave has won, in actuality its some countries still within the EU (such as Poland) who do not recognise same sex relationships and also do not allow LGBT people to adopt. In 7 of the states same-sex relationships are not even recognised, only about a third of the EU countries allow same sex marriage. However, the EU did allow LGBT+ to serve in the military (but I highly doubt this would change)

BREXIT, LGBT+ AND POC.

I am currently reading all about Brexit and the consequences of leaving the EU.

Apparently the EU also functions as a way to make sure that the human-rights of each country in it is uphold. That makes me wonder have the British POC and LGBT+ community now lost any security that they had? Are they now even more vulnerable to violence and bigotry? They already are the marginalized group in the UK. Especially if you are a QPOC. Are they able to find any defense against the oncoming storm?

This worries me a lot.
