Uwe Kroger:

Uwe Kroger: 🧝🏻‍♂️💅🏻💃🏻👑🦚

Mate Kamaras: 😾🔥💍🌪🎇

Mark Seibert: 🧍🏼‍♂️🧍🏼‍♂️🧍🏼‍♂️

Can you talk a bit about different actors for Der Tod in Elisabeth? Especially your thougts on Uwe Kröger and Mark Seibert and maybe some less known favourites of yours. I always enjoy your takes!

Sure, I can talk about some of them. It’s been a while since I really watched Elisabeth, and I tend to focus on her character more, but here are some memorable actors.

Uwe Kroger - Probably my absolute favorite portrayal, especially in the original Vienna production, which really highlighted how dark and raw the show is at its core. He was icy-cold, androgynous,  aloof, very which how I would envision a personified version of a force of nature that’s existed for millions of years - he’s seen it all, is above it all, and then Elisabeth comes into his life and he shows just the barest bits of emotion (a totally new thing for him too). Pretty much has the best Elisabeth opinions.

Mate Kamaras - Pretty much the exact opposite of Uwe Kroger. Energetic, sexual, emotional, but with a deeply manipulative streak that elevates him from becoming too human of a Death. One of my other favorites, just for how he took an interpretation that should have made me hate his Death (see Mark Seibert’s entry below), and made it so fascinating to watch.

Martin Pasching - There are only audios of his Death, as far as I know, but what audios! I knew his Rudolf, who was nervous to the point of being neurotic, who clung to Death like he was his life-raft, was great, but the way he sang as Death, how he just played with notes - it was lovely to listen to. He made me entranced by songs I normally skipped.

Oliver Arno - Props for elevating staging and interpretations that made me want to kick something (oh Stage Entertainment, I hate your staging so much). Very much that “force of nature” interpretation who’s vaguely puzzled by all these weird feelings he’s having. Looks a bit like a shark in some scenes.

Mark Seibert - I saw this man over the course of three years and with half a dozen different actresses, and he never changed a damn thing. Vanilla as hell, played Death as a mere romantic love interest, albeit with the occasional evil cackling. If Uwe Kroger had the best opinions, he had the worst (Sisi loved Death because he provided a masculine, sexual energy for her? GET OUT). There was nothing terrifying or inhuman about him, save for the fact that he and Stage Entertainment almost singlehandedly made me give up on a show that I adored.

Kim Junsu - I have absolutely no opinion on this man, other than my memories of how every bootleg of him focuses exclusively on his character when he was onstage, even if it was another character doing all the singing and acting. As the sister of a kpop stan, I understand, there are thousands if not millions of videos that will do just that, film solely one member. As a fan of musical theatre who just wants to watch a bootleg, I am ANNOYED.

Print this on every newspaper in this world

god can’t stop thinking about that post talking about how lightning is a representation for abuse and how lightning redirection is Zuko letting it pass through him but not destroy him and now I can’t stop thinking about how Iroh refuses to conjure lightning because Iroh, unlike Ozai, loves Zuko as if Zuko were his own son. and how Zuko specifically teaches Aang how to redirect lightning, because Aang is 13 now, and Zuko probably seems himself in Aang. sees his own 13 year old self begging for his father’s forgiveness, his father who burned half of his face off just for speaking out of turn. how he probably is scared sending this kid off to go face his father because Zuko knows that his father has no issue with murdering a child. and how Aang shows Ozai mercy by redirecting the lighting back into the sky and not killing him, shows him the mercy that he couldn’t and wouldn’t show to his own son. and all of it on the 100th anniversary of the Air Nomad’s genocide, no less. just like how when Aang first entered the avatar state, Ozai tried to burn his face in the same spot he burned Zuko’s, but Aang smacks his hand away, like a subtle way of standing up for Zuko in that moment, standing against the abuse Zuko went through, standing up for his friend. and how lightning redirection was invented by Iroh by watching waterbenders, water being an element of change and healing. god damn. god it fucking hits different. shut up this is literally the best show ever, literally nothing will ever top it.

Elisabeth das Musical (but Der Tod also spends the better part of the musical convincing Elisabeth to kill herself, the developments are not mutually exclusive 😂)

Psycho-Pass WAS meant to only have 1 season. They wrapped every character arc up perfectly, leaving the future up for interpretation.

From season 2 onwards, the show lost its purpose, worse yet, they seem to contradict the exact question season 1 wanted to prompt. Instead of questioning the progress we are making as humans with aspiration of a “utopia.” They seem to take that worldbuilding for granted, no longer incredulous of the flip-side of trying to make a perfect world no matter what - that is, a dystopia.

Although season 2 tries its best to at least present an ethical dilemma, it feels - in comparison to what it has to live up to - like a high school “ethics for dummies” class. But if put next to season 3, it is still watchable. Season 3 is a detective story where the dystopia is simply a cool, edgy cyberpunk setting for a crime drama, where the main detective is somehow so much of an Empath that he can experience the victim’s final moments AND criminally asymptomatic - which is heavily implied to be a euphemism for (let’s hear it) PSYCHOPATHY. The characterization isn’t bad because it presents internal conflicts within the character, it’s bad because it CONTRADICTS THE WORLDBUILDING ESTABLISHED.

That’s not to mention all the marketing decisions and commercial goods they’ve made over the years that just go against the show entirely. No wonder Urobuchi Gen no longer wants to be associated with it. They’ve spit on his masterpiece.

My double nightmare: (that I thought that it wouldn't never happened)

Nightmare #1: a new season of psycho-pass.

Nightmare #2: Yuki Kaji is there.

And my nightmares became reality ~

Sorry guys you might hate me but I believe that psycho pass was supposed to be only one season without any sequels or movie..

No but this is so true. The reason that she broke up with Adrien is because she felt like he wasn’t daring enough to disobey his father for her, or prioritize her above all. And here Felix is coming at her like “I don’t care what your mother thinks, I like you and I’m willing to do everything to protect you” ALL THE BIG GESTURES THAT SHE DIGS HE IS LIKE A PEACOCK FANNING HIS FEATHERS OUT FOR HER
