Taehyung 

Taehyung wasn’t sure what to give to the ladies, so he went with something that he loved… jewellery. 

So he made sure to get the right gifts for the right people. 

As he was one of the people who had spent the most time with you, he knew the type of thing you would like, and he knew that he wanted you to go through to the next stage after the interview. 

He wanted to keep you in his life. 

He knew that when you wore large pieces of jewellery, you paired them with other simple pieces of jewellery. So he knew what to get you immediately after yoongi’s and jimin’s gift. 

He had been one of the first people to hear you talk about your best friend, and as he wanted you to be the chosen person, he knew to get Yeji something sweet as well. 

He couldn’t stand Seol-Hyun and Eun-Bi, but he knew that the eunuchs liked them, so he got them some “nice” gifts to appease them. 

“Welcome ladies,” the tall man said, smiling briefly in your direction. You and Taehyung had spent a lot of time together recently, him meeting you after your luncheons with the Queen Dowager and her ladies. You would both agree that you had become fast friends. “I sincerely hope that you appreciate your gift as much as we all have appreciated your presence in the palace” the man lied through his teeth, knowing that Seol-Hyun and Eun-Bi had been rude and aggressive towards their staff. 

He, like the men before him, made his way down the stairs and to the guard with the trolley. Picking up the first four gifts which held a pair of beoseon’s in their family colours and their family seal, handed it to the first four women with a small but genuine smile. Then came Yeji’s turn, who he handed a small square box, which inside held a small bracelet with a butterfly chain attached to it, a large and genuine smile on his face. With his next few steps, he was in front of the two women who he disliked and handed them a small golden band for them to wear around their wrists. The bracelets had no details, just simple gold bands. He handed them to the women, with a grimace that could be mistaken for a smile if you didn’t know better. 

Taehyung practically bounces toward you, his smile bigger than the ones he had worn for the women before you. He hands you a tiny square box, crouching down to see you open it. 

“Lady Seo” he had said as he passed you your gift “do you have another luncheon today?” he asked. You nod, before opening your gift, inside was a signet ring, with the royal seal engraved into it. You gasped in happiness, immediately slipping it onto your finger, looking back up at Taehyung. He smiles at you before speaking again “I take it that you like your gift Lady Seo” he jokes, your obvious appreciation for the gift being the smile on your face as you twirled the ring around your finger in happiness. “I do indeed Master Kim,” you told him, using the same formalities that he was using with you. “I'm glad, I shall meet you once again after the luncheon, okay?” he told you rather than asking you.  “Today, I'm going to show you the library”. Excitement fills you at the thought of the rest of your day.

This isn't my best work so far as it was quite a quick one, but I enjoyed writing it for you guys nonetheless.

Hobi

Hobi is very proud of his gift

His sunshine smile shows as much, as well as the excitement he radiates 

Of course, in front of anyone but the boys, he remains as calm as possible and as professional as possible 

He has 3 favourite gifts, and only 7 gifts prepared, so again after meeting you, and hearing about you from the boys and your love for your best friend, he knows his gift for her has to be something as unique as the gift he wants to give to you. So he finds out what instrument Yeji can play, as has something prepared for her based on that 

He is the most nervous about your reaction to his gift 

He will definitely pace back and forth whilst waiting to go onto the stage to reintroduce himself and give the gifts 

The boys have to remind him that you will love his gift 

Secretly add’s something to your gift without the boys knowing 

*FLASHBACK TO THE DAY BEFORE*

After the ceremony had finished, you began to rise from your comfortable position on the small mountain of pillows you had been on. Being in the last spot, meant that all the other girls would have to walk past you. Suzy, Si-Jeong, Mi-Yeon and Sun-Hwa all sent you quick smiles, arms intertwined with each other as they walked past, holding their gifts, whispering happily between themselves. Yeji was the next person you saw, and she came to stand near you, wanting to talk to you. But before you could even open your mouth to talk to Yeji, Eun-bi and Seol-Hyun decided to make their presence known to you once more. Smirks adorned both of their petite mouths. 

“I hear the king prefers petite jewellery to large clunky pieces” the taller woman spoke. “Indeed chingu, who would like such a clunky thing, the earrings aren’t much better” the shorter retorted. 

“Like you would know what the King likes Seol-Hyun” Yeji snapped back at the taller woman

“I agree chingu, but I’m almost sure the king prefers the fuller things in life, wouldn’t you agree Eun-Bi?” You told the shorter woman, making to emphasise your words. Yeji giggled at your use of chingu, knowing you were using it to tease the other two girls, to let them know that their words had no effect on you. 

“Please, as if someone like you would know what the king wants” Eun-bi snarled back at you. 

“And I'm sure you’re much more knowledgeable than I” you started “However, as much as I would love to carry on this… conversation, i have somewhere to be. Please excuse me” You told the two, grabbing Yeji’s arm, nodding slightly at them and leaving their presence. 

“I simply must talk to you later, please meet me in my apartment after dinner?” you asked your friend. “Of course” she answered just as you reached the entrance to the courtyard, seeing the guard you had seen earlier standing there. You bow deeply towards your friend before moving off toward the guard 

After your luncheon with the Queen Dowager and a short conversation as to your small holdup, your day continued to be lovely, and you even managed to spend some time in the library, receiving multiple compliments on your earrings, building up your confidence even more. 

BACK TO THE PRESENT DAY 

“Welcome ladies, I am sure that you recognise me from your first day here” the tall man spoke, his uniform neat and his hair slicked back just right. “But if you don’t remember my name, I am Jung Hoseok, The Chief State Councillor for the Kim Empire and its kingdom”. His voice was calming yet authoritative, and you couldn’t help but stare at the handsome man before you. “Let’s begin shall we?” He asked the small group of ladies before him, all in their usual spots, his excitement beginning to show ever so slightly as he practically bounced down the stairs. The same guard as usual with the same trolley waiting full of gifts. Again the process started with Suzy, Si-Jeong, Mi-Yeon and Sun-Hwa receiving their gifts first, each receiving an invitation to a special music performance just for the four of them that night. Then it was Yeji’s turn, she received a larger box, full of sheets of music, for the piano, and a note saying there was a piano that she could use in the music hall if she missed her own. Next was Eun-Bi and Seol-Hyun, who each received a dreamcatcher in their family colours. If you could have painted a picture of their faces of almost disgust, you would have, but you didn’t have time, before Hoseok was in front of you, handing you your gift. It was a rather small box, and inside held a small wooden box with the word Mikrokosmos engraved onto it. You lift the small wooden box out of its larger one and inspect it further. It was a music box, you had only heard about these and had never seen them before. Your excitement is so large you aren’t able to hide it from your face or body language anymore. Small tears of happiness well up in your eyes as you begin turning the handle on the side and hear the melodic tunes of the song playing. Your heart has truly never felt so warm and happy as it has been these last few days.
