Account terminated? Don’t panic!

After a lot of trial and error and looking around, I’m back from my account termination! Here’s a pretty surefire way to get your account back if you’re unlucky enough to be terminated (it at least worked for me and a guy I talked to on twitter):

Create a temporary account

Send a help ticket (not an email to support, their support email doesn’t work, so it’s very important that you send it as a ticket!) while logged into the temporary account, but change your email address in the form to that of the terminated account.

Send your ticket shortly before the people at tumblr get to work (9am EST, according to one website). I’m not sure how their ticket system works, but if a ticket can get buried, this should ensure it doesn’t.

Make sure you get an automated reply! Check your spam folder to be sure. If you haven’t received an automated reply after a few minutes, your ticket hasn’t gone through. Don’t fret, just try again until it happens! Don’t be afraid to spam them a little, just make sure your message is very polite.

Politely explain that you’ve been terminated and have not received any explanation why, but that if you’ve somehow broken a rule, you’ll be very careful not to do it again.

List all the blogs connected to your account

Include your IP address

If possible, include a screenshot of your blogs from the app. If you’ve been terminated, you aren’t automatically logged out of the app, and you can still view the drop-down list of your blogs [screenshots here]. The screenshot I attached to my ticket (you can only attach one) was of the drop-down list of blogs.

Make sure to thank the employee for reading it. It’s not known exactly how this process works, but there’s a 99% chance you’re talking to a human, so be polite!

Check your url once in a while! You likely won’t receive an email that your account has been reactivated, so you need to check for yourself.

I was back about 2½ hours after sending the ticket! Worth noting, though, that I sent my first ticket 3 days before (as did the person from twitter), so the entire process might actually have taken 3 days. I’ve seen time-frames anywhere from a few hours to two weeks, but if nothing’s happened after a few days, I suggest you send another ticket.

Some of these steps (such as creating a temporary account or listing the blogs connected to your terminated account) might not be necessary, but it’s what I did, so I know for a fact that this works.
