Want To Try Something New? Try Maladaptive Daydreaming!!!
Want to try something new? Try Maladaptive Daydreaming!!!
It’s the best way to spend your time when you’re alone with your own thoughts!
It has a lot of amazing benefits, including!:
Wasting between a quarter and a half of your day daydreaming instead of doing useful stuff!
Pacing around your room like a caged animal until you feel dizzy and your legs hurt!
Jumping, running or doing sudden movements in the most intense moments that can lead to you accidentally hurting yourself in the furniture from running straight into it!
Making the same faces as the characters to visualize them better in your head!
Daydreaming in public, including the weird movements and faces, and hoping nobody saw you!
Making yourself happy, sad, angry or panicked just by daydreaming something as vividly as possible!
Dropping whatever you were doing just to daydream! Washing yourself? Doing your homework? Paying attention in class? Drawing? No!! Your daydream is more important!!
Imagining yourself as the-nobody-who-turned-into-a-hero-and-is-admired-by-everyone because no one cares about you irl!
Having multiple storylines with the same characters and alternating between them while you try to find the best one to keep!
Stopping the fictional daydream you’ve worked for almost half of your life just because a furry anime that came out recently has almost the same plot as your daydreams, and feeling like you’re stealing their idea!
Switching your daydreams from a fictional world with fictional characters to using real life people!
Daydreaming about situations that have a close to zero chance of happening, and obsessing over them happening!
And if they can happen irl, daydreaming about them until you actually do them!!
Daydreaming about people you’ll never meet, and I don’t mean only celebrities!
Obsessively daydreaming about said people as a coping mechanism that you’ll never meet them in real life!!
Slightly altering your daydream after you find something new about those people, which conflicts with the current storyline!
Having dramatic daydreams about what someone might say and what you’ll answer and how you’ll feel, only to get an underwhelming answer irl!
Imagining THE worst scenario if something bad happens to someone and you know about it only vaguely, and seeing it so clearly in your head that you panic because you don’t know what’s actually happening to them irl!
Taking the “thinking about what you could’ve said in an argument” to the next level and preparing yourself in case one happens based on vague hints that it might happen!
Daydreaming so much about an idea and for a longer period of time, “waking up” and being sad that the daydream wasn’t real even though you knew it wasn’t real from the get-go!
And this is only my experience! Yours could be completely different! Maybe even better than mine!!
Experts recommend starting it as early as possible, preferably in kindergarten!! So you can daydream for as long as this short life allows you!!
Soon enough you won’t want to live in this boring “real” life anymore!

I hate the fact the autistic community almost never talks about self injury and agressive behaviors related to autism. I always see things from autism moms who want their child to stop hitting themselves, but not from autistic people themselves.
I think it's because it's typically associated with "severe" autism and autistic people with high support needs, so since the most visible autistic activists are not in this category they don't care.
But meanwhile I hit myself on the head every day. Every. Single. Day. I also bite my hands if I don't use my chew necklace. I wish I could stop doing that but apart from saying "not all stims are healthy and you should stop harming yourself" they don't suggest anything. And I'm really scared to injure myself really badly for doing that cause my scalp hurts and I feel dizzy.
I do this to express frustration and anger, idk how to do it differently.
Same for agressive behaviors. When I was a child, I hit people when I was frustrated. I remember hitting my grandma's arm and my family having to leave earlier than intended because it was just too much. I was confused and scared and I felt so ashamed.
As I grew up I learnt to suppress these agressive behaviors...and direct them against myself.
I wish there were resources for that but I can't find anything.
Stimming isn't just flapping your hands and jumping. It's biting yourself, it's hitting yourself. It's hitting others. It's banging your head against the wall. Stimming isn't always cute, sometimes it's dangerous.
I just want to learn to stop hitting myself on the head cause it's dangerous and that hurts but nobody talks about it unless it's in meltdowns :( But for me it's not just during meltdowns it's all the time.
tl;dr: Autistic people need to talk more about stims that make you harm yourself like hitting yourself on the head. I don't know how to stop and I do it everyday. They also should talk more about agressive behaviors towards others and how to stop. And this outside of meltdowns. Cause it's not something we can control and it's hard.
somebody needs to take “romanticize your life” away from the tiktok people. it doesn’t mean “change your life entirely to try and meet some ideal” and it doesn’t mean “try and do as many cool things as possible so you’ll be happy” and it doesn’t mean “present your life to others as though it’s perfect” and it doesn’t mean “try to make your life look as much like someone else’s as possible”
it means YOUR LIFE, WHERE YOU ARE NOW, IS ALREADY GOOD ENOUGH TO BE BEAUTIFUL. it isn’t about waking up early to journal and do a full workout (though if that’s your goal, have at it), it’s about noticing the morning sunshine when you do wake up, and taking a moment to appreciate it. It’s not about completely changing your style to match something you think is the right aesthetic, it’s about remembering to find joy in what you’re already wearing. stop trying to add a sanitized “romance” to your life and revel in the raw, imperfect romance that surrounds you merely because you exist.
to anyone who is carrying a heavy heart in silence, it’s gonna be okay someday.
The only people to blame for children under the age of 10 having “addictions” to smart phones, tablets, and technology in general is the parents. I don’t want to hear people complain about their 4 year old knowing how to play with the settings on their ipad. You put the iPad in your kid’s life. You gave a 4 year old their own ipad. They learned to use it. You did that. It’s your fault. Don’t blame kid’s for poor parenting, incompetence, and laziness when it comes to raising children.
Would be asleep right now, but there are Fictional Characters to imagine in emotional situations. You know how it is.
