I saw your post on no politics in fandom spaces and I let out a long sigh. Because I agree. We really need spaces that are free from real world politics. Like sure, art has politics, but don't debate it there. Or like, tag it. I donno. I just really want a fandom space that has 0 current politics. Because it's tiring and ruins fandoms when it becomes peppered with political landmines.

There are thousands of people on that post who are int he same boat as you, anon. The world is burning and we're all breathing in the smoke and a lot of us just want a breath of fresh air.

Its why I highly recommend taking the time and effort to really, really curate your online space and find spaces which fit what you need and want. Scour Discord servers. Trawl blogs until you find ones that fit what you want to see. Make friends who share the same needs and wants.

Its a lot of effort in the beginning, but it gets easier as you get better at learning how to find and identify what you want and curate your space so its more accessible to you. And it really, really pays off in the long run.

The way some of you will just blindly scream "that's illegal!!" at anything without actually fact-checking yourself beforehand 🥴

I was in a Black Butler themed proship Discord server. I've been trying to write dark romance novels with very dark taboo themes (proship aligned), and wanted to share my content for it on the server, but I was told not to do it.

This made me think about creating a space for proship novel writers and authors but I haven't done it yet because I don't know if anyone is interested...

Do you think it'd be a good idea? And if so, would you promote it?

Its not uncommon for servers that are based in fandom to disallow original content, so I wouldn't take that too personally. I'm in a few servers where you can talk about the ship or the fandom all you like, but other fandoms and original works are barred.

For my opinion on the proposal; I think it would be a good idea, yes. Unfortunately, you'll need to be quite vigilant about monitoring it and keeping an eye on the people within. "Dark romance" is yet another subject rotten to the core by TikTok. Manipulation and gaslighting and abuse are sexy, apparently, but incest is where a lot of them draw the line. Its likely that even in a "proship aligned" space, you'll get a lot of people who are victim to the mindset of only certain things being acceptable.

My advice would be to not rush into it. Spend a good while setting the server up, deciding on the rules, what scope you want it to have, what size is manageable for you (e.g; do you want a large public server? A smaller, invite-only server? What can you realistically handle moderating?) and so forth.

As for promoting it, give me a tour once its all set up and if I think its at the point where its sustainable and well equipped to survive, I'll definitely help to promote it and give it some reach.

I just saw that reblog from through-thick-and-quinn and I have to wonder, gee, if it's that bad to wake up every day stressed to the pits, wouldn't they NOT want people everywhere else to feel like that? Awareness =/= getting treated like you can't escape stressful things, which to understate, is technically the same unfortunate situation some groups are in right now. No, nowhere near the same magnitude, only the former really involves the chance of imminent death and such, but still stressful. Sentence still applies.

Honestly you could scroll through any of the reblogs and replies and tags on that post and wonder how the fuck some of those people haven't dropped dead from stress and fear yet.

Frankly if I forced myself to live the way some of those people are, I'd have been institutionalized a long time ago. And that's not a commented intended disrespectfully at anyone's genuine attempts to be a good person or make a change; its an honest to god observation.

I cannot imagine a life where I wake up every single day and force myself to spend almost every waking moment entrenched in war and dead bodies and human trafficking and starving animals and pollution and every other world and social issue that is festering at any given moment.

I really, really can't.
