“What’s up roomie?” “Just a really meh day.” You pouted as you trudged past him, towards your room. “Take a nap maybe. It’s only 8pm.” Yuta shrugged, looking up from his laptop. “Mhm, I think so too. I’ll take an hour’s nap and get to working.” You stifled a yawn, legs in need of a rest from your part-time work. Pushing the door away from you, you entered the room. A gentle breeze caressed your face and you let the door close, wincing a little at the loud slam. 

“Sorry Yuta! Was an accident!” You apologized. You yawned as you stripped yourself of your work clothes, changing into a pair of shorts and an oversized tee. “Oh, right. I should bring them to the laundry room.” Picking them up from the floor with your feet, your hand landed on the metal part of the knob. Pressing hard down on the door knob, you had expected the door to swing towards you. Letting out a confused “huh?”, you attempted, putting in more strength this time, yet the door wouldn’t budge. 

Taking a step back, you placed your right hand on your waist. This couldn’t be happening, could it? “Yuta! Yuta!” You knocked against the door, hoping that perhaps he hadn’t put his headset on. “Yuta!” You rapped a little harder. “What’s up?” You sighed, “I can’t open my door. I think it’s stuck.” Chewing on the inside of your mouth, you heard his footsteps moving towards your door. “What kind of joke is this?” He chuckled and you retorted back, “It wouldn’t move. Not one bit!’ You informed him and you could imagine the grin on his face, “Are you sure? I think you just want my attention.” 

“If I had wanted your attention, I would have slapped you in the face.” You rolled your eyes, shifting your weight from the left to the right.

“Why...wouldn’t...it...move!” He grunted in between each word, his weight jarring the door. “So?” He groaned, “So I can’t open it from the outside, genius. I’m calling a professional.” You heard his footsteps retreating. 

“Ya! Y-Yuta!” “What?” You huffed, puffing out your cheeks, “Can you not leave me?” You leaned against the door, before sinking to the ground, work clothes long forgotten. Your heart rate sped up and you tried not to think of your claustrophobia. Your room wasn’t all that tiny, but you never once closed the door because of your phobia and now...

“...Are you okay inside there?” “No. It’s scary alone.” A moment passed between the two of you. “Is it okay if I just—” “No. No.” Your voice got caught in your throat and you repeated what you said. “Fine fine. I’ll sit right outside, okay?” You heard a soft thud and you smiled, satisfied. “Say, why aren’t you using your phone?” Yuta mused. 

“Dead. The computer too.” You fiddled with the keychain of your keys. “Mhm. Are your airpods in the room?” You nodded your head, only to realise that Yuta couldn’t see and replied, “It’s on me.” Yuta let out an excited whoop, “Okay, okay. Great. I’ll connect your airpods to my computer and you can listen to this japanese drama I’m watching.” You did as he instructed, pairing your bluetooth device with his Macbook. Before you could speak up, he assured you, “I’ve watched it plenty of times don’t worry it's in korean dubbing.” You made yourself comfortable against the door, “Are you comfortable outside?” 

“Yeah, though a sofa would be better. I bet you wanna whack me, but you can’t!” Yuta teased and you face-palm yourself, “Let me watch in peace, thank you very much.” 

“You haven’t even thanked me for doing this! As a roomie, I’m thoroughly disappointed.” 

“Thank you Yuta. What would I do without you, hm?” You lightly joked and he stuttered, “What, uhm. Huh, okay nevermind. Keep watching.”
