Totally agree, it's a dynamic and setting so ripe for the picking. I'd love to see more of it as well, particularly some less angsty ending stuff (Endverse!Dean needs some love from the little brother he's been without for so long. 🥺). Obviously it lends itself very well to dark and angsty, and I love plenty of that, but my soul needs squishy to balance it out occasionally. I mean, it always needs a happy ending, but sometimes it needs a happy start and middle, too. I AM A DELICATE FLOWER. 🥲

Anyway! I thought I'd share @fandom-hoarder's older!Dean/younger!Sam rec list, since it includes a handful of Endverse fics. Maybe there'll be something there that you haven't come across yet. 😊

I'm back to reading Sam/Dean fics again and I gotta say my favourite ship in the fandom is Sam Winchester/apocalyptic Dean even though it's not something a lot of people have written about.

Endverse Dean knows what it's like to live (if you can call it living) in a world without Sammy and has gotten the time to realize and regret all the mistakes he made with Sam.

All the things he said/did and can't take back.

And then he time-travels to season 5 and gets to make everything right again with Sam, even though his past-alternate self keeps fucking everything up.

Clingy Dean who had to live without his soulmate for years/clingy sam who thinks his brother hates him makes for the perfect hurt/comfort fic, honestly.

Meanwhile, you've got Dean from the original timeline being jealous (because hey, that's his Sammy!) and not understanding how his other self is so open about his love for Sam.

Endverse Dean probably regrets turning down all the chick flick moments from before and regrets not having held Sam when he still had the chance... now that he finally has his little brother back? He's going to do everything right this time. Even if this Sammy already has a Dean, even if quitting hunting is what makes Sam happy.

Love the lil back and forth when you find out someone watches supernatural and you have to deduce how normal they are about it. Like are you a "oh my god Dean is so hot" fan or a "season 4 and onwards, will die on the Destiel hill" fan or a "those brothers desire each other carnally" fan or a "yea it's a cool show, watched it with my sibling once" fan or a "I think about this show religiously and every second thought in my brain is how samndean want to rip their chests open and live inside each other's bones and I simultaneously crave that kind of devotion and would be horribly put off if I actually witnessed it" fan or a

There’s currently a poll going around where about 34% of people voted that Dean WOULN’T kill Cas to save Sam’s life (assuming it’s the only way)… I didn’t want to be mean in the notes but y’all voting no are delusional 😭 another 15% of people are voting other and saying stuff like “it depends on the season”

First of all, early seasons Dean would be 100% instantly on board no matter what. And honestly he wouldn’t even be that sad (maybe guilty, but not that sad). I’m talking like season 4, 5, maybe even 6. Late seasons Dean would be incredibly tortured and devastated but ultimately do it because above all else he NEEDS to protect Sam. That’s one of his defining character traits, and has consistently shown he’d do pretty much anything.

“Oh well Dean would only sacrifice himself he wouldn’t sacrifice anyone else” WRONG! Cas has a martyr complex and would love to die for the winchesters (more specifically, he’d love to die for Dean and he’d love to die for anything Dean needs (aka Sam)). “Always ready to bleed for the Winchesters” Cas would honestly kill himself to save Sam before late seasons Dean even gets the chance to feel conflicted about it. But to keep with the poll and making it about Dean’s choice, assuming Cas doesn’t just kill himself, I think late seasons Deans would be pretty easily convinced by Cas being so willing about it.

I just don’t see a single situation where this is ever a no and not an emphatic, yes Dean would kill Cas to save Sam if it was the only way.
