All I can say is OOOOF. Just ooof. I’m gonna have to break this down into parts because I have *a lot* to say 🤣

1) Liam x Y/N breakup/breakdown - this is proof that someone could be a “good businessman” but not a good PERSON. He wanted CleanOcean to depend on him, he knew their deadlines, so he made a situation where they would be so desperate for help that they would sign anything. He even used Y/N for personal connections to make sure the deal would go through. I’m so glad Y/N and Hoseok were able to see through it, and she confronted him about it. His chip on his shoulder is so deep that he can’t see past it. He is ruthless, which is good in the boardroom. He reads people, which is a nice skill to have in the business world. But he uses people to his own means. Get the job done, no matter what, right? He was right - Y/N still has connections through her family, she still benefits from the privilege she was raised in, but she works hard because of that. She’s seen how the world works and doesn’t want to do the same. Which is why she and Liam ultimately are so different and it’s so brilliant of her to stand up for herself. Liam can go kick rocks in his lonely office, wondering why his personal relationships end up not being as good as his business relationships.

2) Yoogi telling Y/N about Jungkook - y’all, this is a good example of a friendship. Chef Yoongi is so supportive and loyal to his friend, knowing how hard it is for Jungkook to trust anyone. He has his limits, he doesn’t just go spilling things to Y/N. He listens, he gives the benefit of the doubt. He probably only listened to Y/N because despite the fact she hurt Jungkook, he probably thought it was only fair to hear what she said (plus he could always kick her out later), But I’m pretty sure at some point during the conversation he thought “shit, there’s 2 of them” and “dammit Jungkook” - and that’s why he decided to tell her. And speaking of telling her….

3) Abuse and the cycle of trauma - my heart broke for Jungkook with the (albeit vague) description of how he grew up. It really shows the different ways of how abuse affects a person. Jungkook can be kind, remembers the smallest details, and ultimately wants to make the people he cares about happy (no matter the cost to his mental health). But he also thinks he deserves to be treated how his father treated him - because in his mind, with how he grew up, that’s what fathers do. That being abused like that is just how sons are treated in a family. That deep down, he isn’t good enough so it’s fine for him to get punished. He doesn’t want his father to be disappointed or angry again - which leads to getting beat/yelled at/whatever - so he goes along with it. His father needs a scapegoat for a company scandal? “Okay, yes. If that’s what will help, yes. Everyone thinks I’m a screw up anyways, it must be true.” Work for the company without any regard to personal goals? “Yes, I have nowhere else to go anyways.” You see this with how he relates to Y/N, how he carries himself, even through how their relationship rose and fell. Y/N has experienced this too, where the mental abuse from her parents leads to deep distrust of others except for a tiny few who have proven themselves otherwise. Ultimately I just hope they both realize they don’t deserve - and NEVER deserved - to be treated in such a way. It will take a long time, but I think they’re on their way.

I think the thing I love most about fanfiction is that no two authors will ever have exactly the same understanding of a character. If you gave multiple writers the same situation with the same characters, none of them would write the same thing or have the characters react in the exact same way, yet every time it would still be completely believable. Every author understands, relates to, and connects with characters in a different way and that will always show in their writing because they’ll bring out certain aspects of a character’s personality that others won’t even pick up on, and still the character will be written in a way that rings of how they were originally in whatever piece of media they’re from. Nobody will write the same thing with the same characters, even if they’re using identical prompts or tropes, and it provides so much variety and enrichment and it’s honestly just a beautiful thing to see how differently everyone views their favourite characters while simultaneously seeing them the same.

Author’s Note: This story will involve cursing and deal with vivid descriptions of a non-consensual event (not sexual) that occurred while a main character was under the influence of being drunk and drugged. There are also descriptions of the OC/reader, who is the protagonist of the story, having panic attacks directly caused from said event and everything surrounding it. I do not take this subject matter lightly, and I understand if this is too much for someone to handle reading. This is ultimately a story about healing and the comfort someone gains from letting people in, but in order to heal it needs to be understood what the person is healing FROM.
