I've Been Working On The Designs For Various Aliens I Made Up As A Teenager.

I've been working on the designs for various aliens I made up as a teenager.
These are the mysterious and secretive Shiren. They're about the size of a human 12-year-old and always wear those long robes and hoods. All the other space-faring species know about their lifestyle is that they're primarily aquatic, but able to change shape in order to move on land.
You can see I decided somewhere in between the two pictures that they should only have four digits.

Now that it's gone to at least one event, here's the full version of this year's free mini-mystery, The Mystery of the Nice Granny.
If you want a copy, come and see me and Sammy at some events! We'll be at:
Bristol Comic and Zine Fair - 4th October 2014 (next weekend, eep!)
LICAF Comics Clock Tower - 17th-19th October 2014
Thought Bubble - 15th - 16th November 2014
True Believers Comic Festival - 7th February 2015
If you'd like some free mini-comics, remember the secret password: 'do you have a business card?' At Bristol we should also have the new GHOST issue of What’s The Time Mrs. Woolf? and a new music zine.

Inktober day 1 - ink and water
Continuing my tradition of goofing up the first picture; a lesson in how ink and water can sometimes go horribly wrong.
Specifically, how I forgot that all but one of my cartridge pens misbehave after long periods of disuse and I used the wrong one. Louise was doomed from the start.

More aliens (still humanoids), this time the Alith-Nen. These ones are loosely a sort of semi-aquatic monotreme, a bit like a platypus. What appear to be antennae are more like whiskers, and help them orient themselves underwater. They're the only humanoids who don't typically wear clothes. Their planet is very hospitable and the only serious hazards or large predators are in the deep oceans, so they don't have much in the way of natural wariness or caution. They've had to learn to be less trusting since encountering other space-faring species.
This guy's name is Kunin Ame (family name first).

Inktober day 4 - ink and water
I was tired after Bristol Comic and Zine Fair so I just did another portrait. I used the right pen this time though.
One of these days I'll have to decide what that key is for and why she never puts it down.
Yessss our new music zine is ready! I love making these, I'm always so pleased with them when they're finished.

This Is Not A Serious Music Publication Autumn 2014 is now printed and ready to launch along with the latest issue of whatsthetimemrswoolf at Bristol Comic & Zine Fair this Saturday! I’ll be sharing a half table with sarahfogg and we will be bringing FREE MINI COMICS & ZINES to hand out to anyone interested. :) See you there!
https://www.etsy.com/shop/sammyborras £3 Shipping: £1.50 International Shipping: £7 Articles, illustrations and comics featuring Baby Metal, Damon Albarn, Gorillaz, Pixies, Bat For Lashes, Franz Ferdinand, Courtney Barnett, Honeyblood, Glass Animals, Dizraeli, Animal Collective, Roadidendren, Haim, We Are Scientists, Cecile Corbel, Adventure Time and Regular Show. "It probably seems silly to be printing a music zine at a time when music blogs are becoming a popular alternative. You can listen to the music at the same time as reading the articles and news updates are instant. We realised we don’t have the time to keep up with it all, so last year, instead of trying, we decided to create a music zine together, where we could write about the music that makes us happy! We had so much fun making the first one that we decided to make more whenever we have enough material to fill a new issue. We’ve filled this issue with music themed comics, gig sketches, articles and illustrations. We hope you enjoyed reading it as much as we enjoyed writing it!"
